The star is for the other employees at this location who were helpful to me, but I came in looking specifically for something from Clinique and i only really use their products but the employee at this section of the store was absolutely vile. First, i come in and she immediately goes to take her break as i was asking her for help. Second, I ask another employee for help and she informs me i can take 3 samples from this section and that it is 100% okay. I take one. So as the clinique employee comes back after maybe 15-25 minutes i ask her for help which again shes super unhelpful and rude, almost dismissive… and then she leaves so I decided with my sister oh I’m gonna grab my second sample. The employee comes up behind us and starts raising her voice and kind of yelling, saying “you cant touch this, and you need to learn how to ask for a sample. You aren’t allowed to touch anything here” so we look at her go oh okay and walk away… I will never shop at Ulta in person again this was the absolute worst way to end my day. I don’t mind asking for help at all but there is no reason another person should ever raise their voice in a customer service setting, or rather at all. Thank you and goodnight

Ulta has an amazing selection - Including the Ulta brand products, which are really terrific. But the reason I am posting a review, is the staff. I recently got my haircut and it was too short for my liking, which made me very upset. However, the team at ulta remedied the situation as best they could and took very good care of me. I was impressed!

Very pushy and rude sales people. I was checking out, and as I really never shop here, I didn't want to give my phone number. She asked me for it and I said I didn't have a phone number in their system and I didn't want to give it. She asked did I know anyone with a phone number in the system, I said no. Then another checker comes over and asks if I want to give them my phone number!! So for the 3rd time I say no thanks I don't want to give my phone number. The original girl checking me out just looked pissed. It was weird. I wasn't rude at all, just firm. She didn't say another word to me and just handed me my bag. The rudeness, pushiness and high prices reminded me why I never go here.

Shopping at this store made me realize why I’d rather shop online. The stars are for the cashier who was great. However, the rest of the employees stood around talking and lacked basic customer service skills once I was finally acknowledged after 15 minutes. And this is coming from someone who never writes reviews and has been in customer service, so, I’m really patient.

I was in the market to buy a host of new products (mascara, liners, lipstick, foundation, blush, etc.) and was lucky to have Lin to help me find just the right things. She spent over an hour working WITH me, helping me to choose things I was comfortable with. She offered up her expertise but was never pushy and even though she is a rep for Lancome, she suggested some products outside that line just to save me money. She helped me order a couple of things that were on backorder. We ended up giving each other a hug at the end of our time together. How often does THAT happen? Obviously, I am a very satisfied customer. P.S. Everyone in the story was very friendly.

Traveling for work, and needed to pickup a few things. Upon entering the store, I was graciously greeted by an employee, Ximena, sweet and personable young lady. She let me know of the sales/ promotions in the store, and was quick to help me. When it was time to check out, the employee helped me enroll in the store’s membership program, which helped me save on some items and she also explained how the membership program worked, which sounds exciting, and I can’t wait to start shopping at this store more often. Overall great experience shopping at this location and a big thank you to the young lady Ximena! Thanks for the extra samples!

This store continues to be a disappointment. Sales girls chatting up a storm with one another and clearly they see customers on the floor. Are they trained to not ask customers if they would like assistance finding products ? I had been standing in the same place extremely confused about product . I had to call out for assistance which did not come until they were finished with their conversation. Which by the way was not work related . When the girl did attempt at helping me I was asking questions related to tarte products . She could not answer any of my questions . Rather than find someone else who was knowledgeable she just walked away and continued with her chat session . Not a care in the world about the customer . Is great attitude /customer service /politeness not a requirement for this position? We can do a much better job Ulta.

Called this store to hold 2 items for me. As soon as I arrived on site, they had my item at the register ready for me to pay! Quick transition, got my product! Just in awe because the other item I purchased was kinda like overpriced.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Shelves were stocked well and I was able to get what I needed. They had hand sanitizer all around the store to use, and had social distancing stickers on the floor near the checkout line.

Disgusting and frankly just not right - because the store is a mess and lipsticks colors not kept under the right color, I purchased a color I did not want. Walked back in just 5 minutes later to exchange or refund and was told "no, as I don't have an account (I refuse to hand out my personal details), they can't do anything!! Unbelievable! Called Corporate to complain and to say the store is in disarray and was told by Corporate to try a different store, that they may give me a refund!! Apparently, it all depends on the individual store as to whether they will refund! So wrong and so unfriendly. The store needs a complete overhaul of staff and a restock. San Clemente store is a mess and is not being managed correctly.

Helena does the best facials here. The facial room is clean and private. I love the facials Helena creates for me, she cocktails the products together and customizes each session for my needs right then and there. Awesome experience.

Kristy was understaffed by 3 and did an incredible job attending the front checkout associate as well as personally helping myself and 3 other customers. I was most excited to have been personally assisted by a visiting Urban Decay Regional Director, Nicole, who matched me perfectly with their newest product and had a wonderful sense of humor!

Made a facial appointment at 11am, was told my appointment was at 3:15. Three employees walked past me at the counter when I was attempting to check in. When I was finally acknowledged, a group of 4 was taken “early” for their appointment ahead of mine. Was not even apologized to or looked at in the eye. They asked THE GROUP of LADIES if THEY were ok letting me have my appointment “in between” theirs. Not awkward at all. I decided I would just browse the store, and opted out of “my appointment”. Brought some products to the counter that were tagged “Buy 1, get 1 40% off”. But the tags apparently were expired yesterday. The nice counter employee brought a manager out to assist in honoring the pricing since they made the mistake of not taking the sale down. But you can imagine- they wouldn’t honor it. So I asked for a comment card, maybe I could offer some feedback. She asked what happened. Her response had suspicious undertones in saying they only make appointments in 20min increments, not 15. And no, they don’t have comment cards. But I didn’t waste my time- I ENJOYED this! It was a wonderful, wonderful experience!
