My nails do look nice, but not any more impressive than any other nail salon that I have been too. The biggest disappointment was that the price wasn’t discussed with me prior to my nails getting done, and the website lists the price for basic dip as $55+. I totally understand why they post the price as an estimate, BUT I have never been to a nail salon where the total cost of my nails wasn’t disclosed prior as apart of the consultation, especially if the nail tech thought it would be more expensive than the listed price. I did not love being shocked with an $80 nail bill when I just got basic dip nails, and no design. They are talented, but overpriced because they are located in Rockford.

I'll start by saying that this past Friday was my second and last visit to Xscape Salon. A couple of years ago, my regular hairstylist from another salon was on maternity leave, and I booked a time at Xscape salon, and was disappointed, cuz the hairstylist toned down the color of my hair. Later on, I needed to go to another place to get the color I wanted. Some time passed, and I decided to give this salon another chance last week; however, I had another disappointing experience. Emma, the hairstylist, got wrong the color I wanted for my highlights, in one point, she needed to put more toner, and even though, the hair color is decent, it's quite far from what I had originally asked. I also had asked for a specific hair cut, and I just got half of the job. I would not recommend this place.

Mixed review incoming.. My grandmother and I came in before a trip to get mani/pedis. I called to book the appointment and when we got there for the scheduled appointment we were informed there wasn’t time for both but we could each do one or the other. Not a huge deal but pretty disappointing. They were able to get me in for the other at a later time so I did come back but they weren’t able to get my grandma in so she just got the manicure. We both had pleasant experiences besides the miscommunication. I have since been back for 2 manicures with Brittany and have been extremely pleased, and I will continue to return as long as she is there. My grandma on the other hand, this is why I cannot give a 5 start rating.. She scheduled a pedicure last week Tuesday with Avery, she had shellac from a different studio on her toes and it took Avery the entire hour appointment to get that gel polish off, leaving my grandma disappointed once again and not really receiving the pedicure experience as she never got her nails painted then.. Now, I understand the process it takes to get shellac off as I’ve been removing it myself for many years, but not only did my grandma not receive the polish part of the pedicure, she still paid $55 for the hour and she left the studio with jagged, crooked and BROKEN toe nails. She has thick nails, they’re hard and they break, even she knows she can’t cut them without soaking them.. both of her big toe nails are split, and for $55.. I talked her into giving them the benefit of the doubt before I saw the state of her toe nails and she is returning today to let Avery finish the job, for another $30… I hope that the studio can make things right, I know they can’t fix her split toe nails but maybe they can do something to compensate for the horrible pedicure she received..

Bummed with my experience. I booked online for a gel manicure and I had acrylics on from a previous salon. I assumed they were a typical beauty salon and that was my mistake. I was informed that we wouldn’t be able to do a gel manicure but that she could get the acrylics off in the time of the appointment. Which was fine. I was okay with just getting them removed. What I’m upset about is they charged me the full $45 for the gel manicure. When I didn’t even get the manicure portion or anything. I feel a bit scammed as you can get acrylics removed from any other salon for like $15. Probably won’t be returning.

I work in customer service, so I generally have a lot of sympathy for other service workers. However, I did not enjoy my experience at Studio Monroe this Thursday at all. I booked a simple brow and lip wax, which was blocked for 15 min period on their calendar invite. I showed up to the studio about 10 minutes early and was told Katie was with another client. No big deal. I was early, right? Wrong. I waited 20 minutes past the time my appointment should have STARTED and was told nothing from the person working the front desk. After 20 minutes, I told the front desk person that I wanted to cancel my appointment, which she agreed to. I mentioned someone who had gotten there later than me being helped first by Katie, only to receive the response that that person had an appointment booked before me. So, why did someone who had an appointment before me show up later than me? I wasn't massively early, only 10 minutes. Was that individual only blocked for 5 minute appointment? Is that even possible? Was she notified that Katie was running late? Why wasn't I told there was another appointment before mine that she hadn't gotten to yet, when I first checked in? After all that, I left. Katie did reach out to me to apologize and offer a complimentary wax, which was a very nice thing to do. I wasn't overly thrilled with the outcome even though I wanted to simply keep the same shape, but was too afraid to say something since I had already made a point about the lateness. All in all, I will not be returning to Studio Monroe. I canceled my future waxing appointments I had set up with them. I had high hopes since I really enjoyed my visit to Xscape Salon under same management. I wouldn't say the wax job was bad by any means, but just not what I was looking for (i.e. my brows ended up more rounded and wider set than I like). My biggest gripe is with the front desk and customer service. If I was rating just the wax, 3 stars. If I was rating just the front desk/customer service, 1 star. Overall, met in the middle with 2 stars.

Literally the best, my favorite nail salon. Only gripe is that it is hard to get in! I've never had a bad service here.

I love Sophie! I get a dip manicure and it is perfect every time. Sometimes i just sit down and tell her to do what she wants and always comes up with something beautiful and fun. I have also seen Kim for my pedicures, who i really like as well. Attention to detail, clean, and quiet atmosphere. Always look forward to my appointments!

I really enjoyed working with Justine for my wedding hair! She has the best energy, is highly experienced, and so easygoing. She made me feel confident in her at my hair trial, and she completely went with the flow when I changed my mind on what I wanted the day of the wedding. She can take the inspiration photos that you give her and put her own professional spin on it. She's really easy to talk to, had such positive energy (which is so important while getting ready for your wedding), and she arrived early the day of. She also did my mom's and MIL's hair and they both loved it. Everyone commented on how bubbly and nice she was. I have naturally curly hair that does not do well in humidity, and our wedding day ended up being 90 degrees with a thunderstorm at the end. My hair still looked great in our pictures we took during cocktail hour and throughout the rest of the night! I would highly recommend her to any future brides and bridal parties!

Studio Monroe is SO adorable! The studio is beautiful, clean and the staff is super friendly, and up-to-date on trends. I've had manicures, dip nails, pedicures, bikini wax, and spray tans all done here - all amazing, I wouldn't go anywhere else! The attention to detail all employees provide is top notch!

The best manicures and pedicures! I have been to many nail salons in the GR and Rockford area, and Studio Monroe is consistently the best. Very friendly staff as well.

Linda B gave me an amazing facial, she's professional, very knowledgeable and set the tone for a relaxing experience. Im impressed with the high-quality organic and food-grade products she uses. The studio is so quaint and charming too, love it there. Overall great experience. Can't wait to go back.
