I brought a photo in of the cut i wanted and unfortunately my hair looks nothing like the photo. I asked for more layers multiple times and the stylist felt it was "too disconnected" to add layers. I asked for a couple other specifics and the stylist was very nice but had her own vision. Im usually okay with the stylist making some creative choices if im not sure, but it just did not reflect the photo i wanted my hair to look like at all. I waited a day then requested to come back and get it fixed and with the holidays, they were unable work with my schedule, and ulitmatly ended up not responding to my voicemail to come back to fix the cut. Disappointing, as im usually a "it will grow back, nbd" kind of person but i just have to live with a bad cut for a couple months!

I have been going to Prodigy Salon for about 2 years. My stylist is Erin Z......Erin is the sweetest, most kind and gentle person you want working with your hair. She listens to what you want and understands before starting the process. She takes her time to ensure you get the best results - she really cares that you are happy with your hair after she is finished! As well, She is a delight to chat with during your visit. Once again, Erin you did a great job with my color - it is bright as I wanted and I love the new cut. Thank you!!

Kyann is the best!! She is super fun and easy to work with. Each time I’ve been to Prodigy she has always taken the time to understand exactly what I wanted and made me feel comfortable throughout the whole process. She’s incredibly skilled and I’ve always been so happy with my results! I highly recommend her for anyone who is looking for a skilled and friendly stylist!

I wanted to give a huge shoutout to Felicity. She is absolutely amazing. She took my long hair and turned it in to a modern mullet. She asked initial questions and then took full control. If I opened up a Salon I would hire 100 of her.

Love this salon! Everyone is so nice and the space is super cute. Special shout out to Maci who always goes above and beyond. She is also the only hairdresser out of a dozen who has been able to provide a solution to a hair problem I’ve faced my entire life! 11/10 would recommend.

I had a highlight touch up and cut with Hannah — she was amazing!! She talked with me for a long time about how to achieve what I wanted for the most affordable price and made me feel totally comfortable asking questions. To add to that, the results were quite literally exactly what I pictured!!! I will sooooo be back <3

My appointment at Prodigy was a while ago, but I have been considering whether to give them another chance prior to writing a review. After thinking about it, I have decided not to go back. I wanted my hair to be an all-over, single color, warm-toned blonde. I came in for a consultation and showed them pictures of what I had in mind, explained what I wanted, and they booked an appointment for me for dimensional highlights. I told them at that time that I did *not* want highlights or dimensional color, I wanted one color all over—they told me then that they book all of their appointments for dimensional, so that the stylist has more time, and that I would get what I wanted on the day. When I went in for my appointment, the stylist showed me some high-lift colors, and tried to convince me to do one of those instead of bleaching, but the colors she showed me were not even close to the pictures that I had supplied. I declined the high-lift color idea, saying that they were all too dark, and again explained what I wanted. The stylist and I discussed it, and she ‘confirmed’ that I wanted highlights—I said, no, NO highlights! Fast forward to my hair being bleached. Two artists working on my hair for hours, and then they began taking the foils out—I was confused, because half of my hair was still brown. I asked whether taking the foils out was going to make it hard to bleach the rest of my hair…? That’s when the stylist told me that they weren’t bleaching my hair all over, they were giving me highlights. At this point, I got upset. I had stated before we started that I specifically did *NOT* want highlights. The stylist sat down with me and explained why her idea was better. She explained that it would look more natural, that insisted that it would ‘look blonde.’ She showed me pictures of what she was going for—brown with neutral toned highlights!! Nothing like the pictures that I had supplied. I was in disbelief and didn’t even know how to respond at that point. She also blamed me for making an appointment for a dimensional, and informed me that a ‘platinum card’ would have required a very different appointment and would have been much more expensive. All these months later, I still find myself wondering why I was not told that at my consultation, or before the bleach went on my hair at the appointment. I felt misled, lied to, and then blamed. She never acknowledged that what she was doing was not what was discussed or agreed upon, and didn’t apologize until I was on my way out the door, at which time she just said “I’m sorry it’s darker than you wanted!” When the bleach was washed out, I was a little more optimistic, because it did look fairly good—but then the toner went on, and I went home with brown hair with copper tips and highlights. Not blonde. I want to mention also that I was charged for a dimensional, meaning that my price was higher than what I was quoted. I paid without complaining because they did spend a lot of time on me as a client, and with two stylists doing the work, it is a lot of labor. The stylist did offer to do a free revision, but I didn’t bother because it seemed impossible to me to go from where my hair was to what I wanted, short of picking out each individual brown hair and bleaching it, which is not something I’m willing to sit for, or force stylists to do. I would have really preferred to be told ‘no,’ rather than to have been told ‘yes’ and then given something completely different than what I asked for. Now I’m just waiting for my hair to grow out, so that I can cut it off and try again. The salon facilities were really nice, everyone was really friendly, and I was (physically) pretty comfortable while I was there. Despite my negative experience, I was still considering going back, which goes to show that it is a good salon. I wouldn’t say to avoid it by any means, but I leave this review in the hopes that the salon staff will think about how to improve their communication and honesty to avoid situations like mine in the future.

After years of trying and failing to find a stylist who could give me the shag haircut I’ve been asking for, I finally found Aaron and he delivered!! I actually went to him after another stylist botched my cut so badly. I didn’t think anything could be done to salvage it, but Aaron spent nearly 2 hours going over my hair from every angle, trimming and shaping like a sculpture. It’s clear he truly cares about his clients and his work, and he is a skilled master at this specialized cut. Not only did he fix my hair, but it looks absolutely incredible. If you want the wolf cut, butterfly cut, or shag cut of your dreams, Aaron is your guy!!

As a client at Prodigy for over 2 years, I had the privilege of finding an incredible hair dresser and getting to know and love many others there. With that being said, things have seen to have taken a turn for the worse lately and the negative impacts have been visible. It is sad to see the impacts of management send so many amazing stylists to other locations. While there are still great stylists here, I recommend you find a salon with better moral integrity and loyalty to their stylists and clients. Sad to leave this review. Happy to recommend you go see Kato at Yardstick just down the street.

I suffer from psoriasis on the scalp and dealing with itchy dry flakey skin . I went in and had a scalp treatment done for my condition. It was such a wonderful relief!! Felicity took care of me and made sure I was comfortable. I enjoyed my scalp treatment very much!!! Highly recommend Felicity!!!! She is such a wonderful bright spirit !!

I came into the salon and saw Maci, and my experience was amazing. I have never been happier with my hair. The atmosphere in the salon is so luxurious, the hair washing spa area was my favorite. The owner Jeremy is also so kind and welcoming. I recommend coming to this salon 10000000% and will definitely be a client here from now on. ❤️

I had Hannah for the first time and she was all around amazing! Usually I don’t talk too much during hair appointments, but Hannah was easy to talk to and I quickly opened up. She consistently asked me what I wanted throughout the appointment and never pressured me into anything I didn’t want. When I told her that I was scared that hair stylists may think the haircuts I get are boring, she told me that what makes me happy is the thing that matters most and hair stylists care about what the client wants, whether it’s simple or complex. I plan on going to her in the future too!

I’ve had difficultly finding a stylist that listens to my hair goals but I needed a cut, so I found this salon through a simple google search. Hannah was my stylist and let me say: she is awesome! She’s so sweet and gentle. I’ve never had a hair experience that was so welcoming! Her attentiveness and inquiry regarding my hair goals was a game changer. She really spent time with me, and for once, I felt like my hair was just as important to the stylist as it is for me. Total gem! Definitely going back and looking forward to it! - Sammi

I’m new to Salt Lake and chose Prodigy’s Salon after reading their reviews. After asking me a few questions about my hair and what I was hoping for, the young man suggested Hannah for my haircut. I’ve appreciated Hannah’s sincere interest in me and my hairstyle. She is thoughtful and deliberate as she washes, shapes, and texturizes my hair. The cut has been easy to care for and kept its shape throughout the month. She’s an artist and a genuinely caring stylist. I’m glad I found her!

Hannah was so kind and really payed attention to what my hair needs were. She went the extra mile to talk me through the styling techniques she was using and even wrote down the products she used, so I could purchase them when I could afford it. Highly suggest booking appointment with her.

I did not have a great experience here. First, they called to tell me my stylist called in sick (which is fine). I told them that my engagement photos were that night so what can they do for me. They said they'd call back if they had any openings (no, you need to be able to accommodate me if someone calls in sick. I had an appointment booked!). Luckily, they could get me in. When I showed up, I showed the stylists what I wanted to do-- tight playful curls. The stylists basically said that this was her first day back and didn't have her curling iron. So she told me that she could finger curl my hair. I did not pay $60 for someone to put two products in my hair and finger curl my hair. I could have done this myself. My hair didn't turn out much different than my normal hair.

I had an amazing experience with Hannah! She did a fantastic job color correcting and trimming my hair. The color turned out exactly how I wanted it, and I loved the fresh trim she gave me. Hannah is not only skilled but also very warm and welcoming. She made sure I was comfortable throughout the long appointment, which I appreciated. The highlight was definitely the head massage I received after she shampooed and conditioned my hair. The washing area was like a zen spa, with relaxing music and a calming atmosphere that could put anyone to sleep. I highly recommend Hannah. She clearly knows what she's doing, and I'm looking forward to my next appointment with her!

the person who did my hair was Felicity, and I had a great time! I got the hair treatment for an extra forty-ish dollars, and it was 100% worth it! I felt very welcome and at home there. My hair came out looking shiny and smooth! There is nothing better than a salon that’s welcoming and proficient, and I’ll be going their again!

Awful experience today with Aaron. I went in for a root touch up & a few lowlights. My color is blond, my root touch up was supposed to be blond. I am now all over light brown with reddish highlights. It took him 2.5 hrs to do my color, and in the end I had a huge rats nest in the back of my head due to his “massage”. I don’t have a lot of hair, and now I have a clump of missing hair. He is a nice guy, but so inexperienced and should not be coloring hair for Goodwell!! Shame on you Prodigy for allowing this to happen.

Finding a really barber or stylist in salt lake is difficult for guys. I’ve had my hair cut by Aaron 4 times now and he’s out together an incredible creative new cut I’ve asked for each time that with my mid length hair has been really difficult for other barbers but he came up with some sick Styles and solutions for my 20 Cowlicks and crazy thick hair. Very Talented barber-stylist 10/10. Jeremy the owner comes out often and runs an incredible team there… best shop in salt lake for men’s women’s cuts 🤙

I called super last minute and they didn’t have any times available but they squeezed me in anyways. Felicity was my stylist and she was absolutely amazing! I have short hair and it’s VERY thick. I was unhappy with how my previous stylist cut it and how blunt the cut was. Felicity took the time to listen to exactly what I was wanting and it turned out beautiful! And not to mention the scalp massage when she was washing my hair, omg! Almost out me to sleep. The salon itself was so clean and had a great atmosphere to it as well! I first went in just for a fast hair cut because they were open and could fit me in, after my appointment I pre booked my next appointment and will keep going there as long as they are open. Love love love this place!

This is the 2nd time I’ve had my hair done by Aaron and my 4th time overall at Prodigy Salon. Aaron absolutely knocked my request out of the park for my new haircut and all over highlights. Aaron is so precise and detail oriented and constantly striving to improve as a hair stylist. He is great at communicating about wants and expectations. Aaron loves what he does and it shows through the services that he provides his clients. I highly recommend Aaron for your hair needs! Prodigy Salon is a great environment. I love the atmosphere and their washroom is very relaxing. I love the hot towels and essential oils they use during hair treatments.
