I like this salon a lot, support staff or whatever is great. The real draw though is Anna Rose. I’m 50 years old and no hairdresser has ever been able to work with my waves and cowlicks (or even acknowledge there were waves and cowlicks). I have never had an even remotely bad haircut from her and if you’re unsure what you want you can trust her to just do what she thinks will look good (I swear). She is also a beautiful light of a human being and fun to be around. Very welcoming to LGBT clients ❤️

Update- visit 2: We went back a few months later to have my daughters curly hair cut (not just styled as in previous review) and Celia worked her curl goddess powers to reveal an absolute beautiful end result. The curls lay so much better, my daughter loves the added volume and soft bang and this mom is just so happy to see my daughter feeling beautiful. Thank you again Celia for your talent, making us feel comfortable and the sweet staff for another all around wonderful experience! (Pictures of haircut are the outdoor shots.) My 11 year old daughter, with curls, caught eye of their “curly hair expert” letters on the window so we made an appointment. Celia transformed my daughters curly hair into a delectable work of defined art, with bouncy spring and luscious softness. Celia was so helpful with curly hair feedback, we left with more than just gorgeous hair, but with real knowledge, (a joyful mom tear), and a happy kiddo who was given confidence in maintaining it. We adore Celia and all the sweet staff there to make our visit relaxed, enjoyable and comfortable. Such a breath of fresh air, we felt truly cared for. Thank you everyone!

We made two haircut appointments with the salon. The first one we waited an hour and a half for a haircut after they called us to tell us to come a little later and the second time they did the same thing and tried to cancel us one hour before. Totally unacceptable in my book. I specified that my son needed his haircut before the holiday, but they didn’t seem to care. They don’t run on time and for what they charge they should give better customer service. They are not the only ones trying to stick to a schedule. Working mom/business owner here, which makes even more frustrating. I have many other commitments as well, but treat my clients much better. Don’t overbook if you can’t manage your schedule. The appointment was booked about three weeks ago, so it wasn’t like it was done last minute either.

After having just moved to Saint Pete it has taken me a while to find my new hair salon. And I have found it! Edie has cut and colored my hair twice now, and my curls and color have never looked better! I'm also very happy that this Salon is part of the Green Circle salons, so they recycle everything, which also makes me very happy. Thank you!!

Anna rose is an absolute goddess with hair. She has helped me so much in my hair goals and I could not be happier every time I leave. This place is clean, friendly, and the staff is amazing. 100/10 would recommend. love my transition into essentially a jewel mermaid 💜💙

The best salon for curly hair!! I’ve been coming to Practically Frivolous for years now and I am never disappointed! My stylist, Anna Rose is absolutely Wonderful!! I highly recommend her, she is truly knowledgeable about curly hair and always makes me feel at ease in her chair. She takes her time and makes sure that you are happy with the final result, and even teaches/gives you hair tips along the way. 100% recommend :)

****edit- since I can't respond to your response, I'll edit my response here. If your take-away from my review was that it wasn't in my budget, then you obviously don't have any concern with how your client's are treated. #1- if it wasn't in my "budget", I wouldn't have come to you to begin with, HOWEVER, it may not be within budget for someone else expecting a great curly hair experience and hopefully my review could save someone the expense. No matter someone's budget, if you pay over $150 for a service, you shouldn't have to walk out of a salon lowering your head in hopes no one sees the atrocity that is on your head. I definitely didn't feel "very confident and happy with [my] curls". #2- you say you pride yourself on "giving exceptional service" with a good reputation on "clear communication". EVERYTHING that was expected was CLEARLY communicated during the initial consult with your stylist. I educated her on the specific types of products that work for my hair type, as unlike her, I know the type of curls I have and how to care for them. I know exactly what types of products work and which ones don't. She blatantly ignored what was said in our consult and used some type of spray that weighed my curls down, made my hair sticky, and caused extreme irritation, rash, and redness to my scalp because she used too much of the spray. As far as the "exceptional service", the particular stylist was preoccupied the ENTIRE session with everyone else's conversations and at one point walked any in the middle of cutting my hair to hug and talk to someone that walked in the door. Very unprofessional. #3- Maybe you should counsel your stylist on your expectations of "clear communication" and how to style curly hair instead of assuming my complaint was about budget... having only "discovered" her hair was curly last year when she is assumingly over 60 years old, clearly only shows her lack of knowledge. Maybe take the time to educate her that listening to your clients needs and how they manage their curls is vital to ensure happy clients. A few tips on how to actually style curls could help as well. **** Don't waste $138.00 to get this "special" type of hair cut technique. It's the same technique that Fantastic Sams uses. They wash your hair first and then cut it. I went in to get my hair blended from losing hair due to covid and walked out with my hair looking worse than when I went in. Very disappointed. Definitely never going back again. I should have ran when I sat in the chair and the hair stylist said she just discovered that she had curly hair within the last year. How do you not know you have curly hair?!?! Absolute waste of money.

Anna-Rose Brown is the BEST hair stylist I have ever had the pleasure of working with. She is professional, kind, friendly, and takes SUPERB care of all of her clients. I was so worried about entrusting my hair to someone after avoiding salons for years but she makes me look forward to every appointment. I feel beautiful and empowered because of her. I have CRAZY thick and curly hair. And the curls are not consistent curls. I’ve been searching for years to find someone who can help me. A friend of mine suggested this salon, and Kenna is a magician! The entire staff is so welcoming and friendly. I felt comfortable the moment I walked through the door, and I couldn’t be happier with my hair! Kenna showed me exactly what to do at home and it is a surprisingly, easy routine. The products are also magical! I’ve had so many compliments on my hair, and I tell them exactly who does it and where I get it done. Do yourself a favor and book an appointment. It took me so long to find a stylist after mine moved to CA! I get my nails and lashes done here by Cheata (I love her)and she recommended Celia who I’ve been going to for a year now. Everyone is so friendly, and professional. I trust them to do whatever they suggest, even when I think I want something else. 😀I typically get blonde highlights throughout my hair (balayage)and have never been disappointed. She always talks to you about what you want and will walk you through how to get there in order to keep your hair healthy. She truly cares and listens. Her cuts and blowouts are amazing as well!

Thanksgiving is such a great time to show and express our appreciation to those we hold dear to our heart. I just want to say what a great place this is! I've been coming here well over 25 years and NEVER have I had a bad experience. Celia, the owner and my stylist, is one of the sweetest people that walks the planet, and her color/cut/styling skills are nothing less than exemplary! I also need to give a very special shout out to Cheata, her mom and Gail E. for their superior quality and creativity in the handling of my nails and facials. The entire staff and stylists are all top-notch professionals, and no one leaves this place without looking drop-dead gorgeous and feeling very pampered! This salon is so awesome. Celia has been doing my hair for years now and I won’t let anyone else touch my hair. I have thick, wavy hair and I like bright colors and Celia is a color wizard. I have flown to Florida to get my hair done by her. I always LOVE my hair after she does it. I highly recommend!!! Can’t say enough good things!

What a great salon! I've been seeing stylist Edie for more than a year at Practically Frivolous and have never been disappointed. My curly hair is always managed expertly and with my comfort in mind. The staff is accommodating, knowledgeable and friendly. I recommend the Practically Frivolous especially for to those looking for curly hair experts.

I enjoy walking into a salon and everyone is friendly and treat you like family. I can't wait for my salon/pamper myself day. I start my day with Gail she is the magician of facials. She is the reason I have healthyskin. Then I go to my hair stylist, Celia, she has a mean set of shears and make me look like a supermodel. After, that I slide over to my nail artist Cheata and the word "artist" doesn't describe the talent. Then to round of I see Mom.... when I say OMG...I mean OMG .... I never want to leave the pedi chair... I telling you once enter the salon you walk out feeling refreshed and relaxed.... love my Practically Frivolous Family

I got the best cut/color in my entire life from Anna! I came in and asked to look nice for my sister's graduation and she not only delivered but went above and beyond! Her attention to detail and dedication to her job really show, I've gotten so many compliments on my hair since I went in last Friday:) I cannot recommend her enough!!

I had such a wonderful experience getting my curly hair cut here. I was nervous for this cut going in, but Anna Rose really took the time to listen to me beforehand, and ensured she understood what I was looking for before the cut! She was also very helpful and knowledgable in helping me learn best techniques for keeping my hair healthy! Even a few weeks after the cut, my hair is still looking way healthier than before going in. Would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a hair cut, especially curly hair!

Edie does a wonderful job turning my unruly curly hair into a beautiful and manageable hairdo.
