I recently visited Phillip Pelusi Training Salon with high hopes, but my experience turned out to be quite disappointing, to say the least. While I understand that training salons have their unique dynamics, the treatment I received was unacceptable. Upon arrival, I was welcomed and scheduled for a service that seemed promising. However, as I sat in the chair waiting for the stylist to begin, I felt a wave of fatigue and closed my eyes for a brief moment after receiving heartbreaking news about my husband's diagnosis. To my astonishment, I was abruptly asked to leave the salon because, as the staff explained, closing my eyes 'gave off the wrong impression.' This was not only surprising but frankly bewildering. I couldn't help but feel that the reaction was excessively harsh. As a customer, I believed I had the right to wait comfortably. In an environment designed to encourage relaxation and pampering, being told to leave for simply closing my eyes felt more like a punishment than any form of constructive feedback. The stylist I was meant to work with may have been in training, but the front desk staff should have demonstrated more professionalism and understanding. Instead of fostering a welcoming environment, the salon's approach created an uncomfortable atmosphere that left me feeling dismissed and unvalued as a client. It’s one thing to maintain a specific ambience in a training salon, but it’s another entirely to alienate potential customers over a minor incident like closing my eyes. I suggest re-evaluating customer service practices to ensure that everyone who walks through the door feels respected and valued, regardless of the circumstances. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously, as I believe it could greatly improve the experience for future clients. As for myself, I will not be returning to Phillip Pelusi Training Salon.

Absolutely AWFUL customer service! Hence the reason this salon is dead all the time. My first visit to Shannon was the beginning of November and she highlighted my hair with foils. It took her an unusually long time (4 hours) but I figured she was taking her time as I was a new client and she wanted to do a good job. I was satisfied with the color and about two weeks later on Nov. 25th I called the salon to book another appointment with her for December. Shannon actually answered the phone when I called so I booked directly with her for Dec.16th at 11:00 a.m. The day of my appointment I get to the salon 10 minutes early and checked in with the receptionist. She tells me that I'm not in the computer. I politely inform her that my appointment is at 11:00 a.m. with Shannon and I booked it with her over two weeks ago. At that point Shannon comes up to the front and greets me. I told her what was going on and she agrees with me and says she remembers booking my appointment and speaking with me. She acts confused and asked me if I canceled my appointment. Of course I said, no. Then she proceeds to tell me she doesn't know what happened but that she cannot fit me in until Dec. 23rd. I politely informed her that I have to go out of town for the holidays, and that I have had this appointment with her for over two weeks and I need my hair colored today. She said she "doesn't have time today or until Dec. 23rd." Again, I told her that would not work for me. Then she said "I can throw some color on the roots but I don't have time to do foils." While all this was going on she did not have a client in her chair so I asked if she could start my foils and work me in between her other clients. She said "no, I don't have time." Any other colorist at any other salon would have done that but she flat out refused. At that point I was furious and said, I have had an appointment with you for two weeks, YOU messed up the schedule, not me, I need my hair done! But she made ZERO effort to accommodate me or rectify HER mistake. I have never seen such blatant disregard of a customer service in my life. Shannon has no business being in the hair industry or any other customer service job for that matter.

Do not go here. Had my bangs trimmed & they were botched. Clearly showed up with curtains bangs, asked to trim my bangs about up to my brow bone. She didn’t ask any questions abt the bangs, just turned me around & cut them. Then was told I should’ve said they were curtains bangs. As a hair stylist, if you couldn’t tell, you ask questions. It was clear what they were. My hair was ruined for an event that cost $2,500 a ticket.

Very professional staff after not cutting the perfect cut for my boyfriend! Very accommodating and understanding. We will definitely be back when his hair grows out! 😂❤️

I have been going to this place for years to get my hair cut and colored but the quality has honestly gone down hill with the prices going up. Haircut prices have gone up to $60 and colors have gone up to 200+ but my color only lasts 2-3 months. My last straw with this salon was when my normal haircut with layers and bangs wasn’t done right; I found that my layers were cut uneven and my bangs didn’t frame my face at all. It was like no effort was even made to give me a good cut. But the worst part of all is that the staff is unprofessional and racist. I had tried a new hair trend by dying my hair with non-chemical dye(henna) and my stylist freaked out on me and got mad. She straight up said to me “wow, I hate when people do this to their hair and use henna. Why would you put something like that on your hair” and it just gave me really bad vibes and made me feel like a bad person for making a mistake. Needless to say, I found a new salon and have been reluctant to review this salon until now because of backlash. Overall, it’s just sad how the salon went downhill after peak pandemic and people have shown their true colors; I don’t recommend going here!

Scheduled an appointment a week and a half ago for all over highlights, arrived at my appt 10 minutes early, through all the crazy construction in south side right now, they told me I was scheduled for a haircut, which I never mentioned I wanted, and that they didn’t have time to do highlights today. Okay, mistakes happen tried to reschedule and the next available appt was 2.5 weeks away… didn’t attempt to accommodate their mistake in the least.

You saved the day by giving my daughter a beautiful haircut & style. The curtain bangs are exactly as she wanted! She feels very confident walking into her very first job interview. The stylist who cut my hair clearly did not ever have any experience with type 3 hair, because I wound up with a very unflattering haircut. Each side of my hair was an uneven length. I also got schmucked into a keratin treatment which didn't do anything for my hair at all.

Have always had a great experience here. The stylist I was seeing, no longer works there, so I was switched to Cameron and she did an amazing job with my color and cut! She also went out of her way to be gentle because I am tender headed and have a ton of hair.

Horrible customer service. My hair was turned green when it was supposed to be blonde. I was leaving for vacation the next day so they asked me to send pictures. I did so, when I got back they said they would not refund my money because they didn’t see it in person!! Absolutely terrible!

I used to go here a few years ago, mostly for eyebrow waxing and hair services. Once, I was in the waiting area and I heard a few of the employees snickering, and looking at me while giggling. They were most likely making fun of me for something and if not, it sure felt like they were. I’ve never returned and would caution others too.

Lacey who cut my hair did a great job! the place was clean and the staff very welcoming. very knowledgeable of Philip Pelusi. also she love the picture of my dog I showed her. Her dog was also pretty cool, see ya nextime !
