I’ve been coming here for a couple of months now. The stylists are all very knowledgeable, professional, and work extremely well together. This year was the first time I ever dyed my hair and they were extraordinarily understanding of my nerves, and helpful in deciding what was best for me. Sierra specifically has been the one working with me and I could not ask for a better stylist. Huge plus that they are all so LGBT+ positive. I love this place and can’t imagine trusting my hair with anyone else!

Nicholas is the best! He is the only person I let cut my hair. He does a great job with curly hair which is hard to find. I have never been disappointed.

Sierra did an excellent job on my highlights and I was able to meet Nick, another Stylist during my appointment. We all had nice conversation. Very friendly and professional Stylists.

Had a great cut by Justiss. My hair needed some attention and she was able to give life back to my curls. I appreciate the education about my hair and suggestions on how to maintain it. I made sure to definitely book my next haircut.

I had an appointment a few weeks ago. I'm new to the area so was looking for a new stylist. I went here because of the experience. The price was a bit higher than I was used to but it was fine since they are all very experienced. When I got there, it wasn't very busy at all. Once I sat down, I started to get nervous. It was my first time there ever so I expected to be asked thorough questions about what I wanted. However, this was not the case. My stylist asked me how much I wanted cut off and just started cutting. She didn't ask me if my hair was parted correctly or anything (we later had to fix this). I got really nervous as my hair is so important to me. A few minutes in I did end up asking if she was going to dry cut it the entire time and I asked what her plan was overall since she had not said anything about it. She then asked me if I wanted to just do a dry cut. I asked her how much that was and agreed to it since it was cheaper and it would get me out faster (this was an evening appt). So as we go along she asks some questions, and asked if I wanted any weight off. I said yeah, a bit would be good. This was where it went downhill. She started taking weight off and I trusted her as she has several years of experience. She then said she would need to wash and dry my hair after all to make sure it was all even. This I did not like because it seemed like she just wanted the $75 we had planned for at the beginning, even though we agreed to the dry cut + that lower price. Anyways, at the end, she shows me how much weight she took off and my heart dropped. I am Hispanic so my hair is naturally thick which I love and now it is all gone (I will add pictures later). I did want to go shorter which she got the amount perfectly. But I came in with longer layers and wanted to leave with as long layers as was possible with how much length was being taken off. Last thing was my framing pieces. They are not great... The very front bits are the length I asked for but it was a lot of hair that was cut and it goes kind of far back to the point where I now have to bobby pin my hair back every single day. I also wear my hair tied back in some way every day because I hate the look of thicker on top and thinner towards the bottom. It looks kind of like a wolf cut? Needless to say, I was not very happy and I cried as soon as I got home. My partner reassured me so I got over it and his graduation was coming up anyways so I moved past it. Fast forward to now and I've told people about it and they have all encouraged me to leave a review and even ask for a refund. This was the most expensive haircut I have ever gotten and my worst one (in terms of getting what I wanted). It will probably take a good 6 months for it to grow out and be semi-normal. I'm hoping they're able and willing to make things right and treat their newer customers differently moving forward. I don't intend to give them a bad reputation because they all seemed very very nice and I debated leaving this review for weeks in the first place.

Nicholas was lovely and welcoming! I have anxiety about people cutting my wavy/curly hair but he took the time to speak with me about expectations and goals for my hair and made me feel validated in what I wanted! And he cut my curly hair in about an hour, swift and easy. Thank you for your time Nicholas!

I had an appointment at this salon this weekend. I should have known something was up when I walked in and saw no other clients. I had signed up for a regular cut by any stylist. The person that did my cut was clearly learning on the job and I was given a curly cut, which I had not requested - I rarely wear my hair curly. If I had wanted a student cut I would have gone to Aveda beauty school or some other place that offers student services. Because my stylist was learning while on the job my entire appointment took almost 4 hours when it should have been one and a half hours max. Half of my day off was spent at this salon instead of doing other things. I also got my brows waxed and the person doing the waxing did about 25 "spot" waxes on me instead of the usual three to four long strips, they also waxed me a few times in the same spots so I had red spots on my brows for a few days after the appointment. I would have gotten a better wax for $10 at my nail salon, and the result I got from this salon was not worth $30. I also got brow lamination done, this was just a brow lamination kit that I could have bought on Amazon and done myself and not was not worth $30. Before my appointment was over, the person teaching my stylist left so I was left with a student with no teacher to complete the appointment. Then another stylist came in proceeded to take shower in the sinks in the salon and gave me a full view of their plumber crack while doing so. I won't be back.

My appointment was with Taylor and I couldn't be happier. It's hard finding someone LGBT and curl friendly so this was a nice surprise. I'm very happy with how my hair looks now.

Taylor cut my hair for the first time a few weeks ago. She is fantastic! My hair was a weird hybrid of straight/permed/damaged locks and she basically brought it back to life. My hair has volume now after the cut and she provided some invaluable advice on how to take care of it. This salon is LGBTQIA-friendly and also provides gender-neutral pricing. This can be hard to find outside of major metropolitan areas and it's great to find a salon like this in a lovely city like Mebane.

Taylor did a fantastic job with my daughter’s curly hair consultation and cut and style. Very informative and a warm and inviting atmosphere. My daughter’s hair looks amazing and best of all she has the info she needs to maintain and keep her hair healthy and vibrant. No pressure to buy products after the haircut only info on where you can buy products affordably if interested. A+

Went for a consult Tuesday and texted the stylist my availability that evening to plan for childcare, never got a response. Not very professional. It took leaving this review to get a response from the stylist. If I hadn’t left this review, I never would have got a response. Just lost my business.

Audrey did a fantastic job cutting my 9 year olds hair exactly like the pic of a Disney character named Nimarri from Raya and the last dragon. It was at least 10 inches off and shaved on one side and I was really nervous but she nailed it! She gained a lifetime client!

I saw Taylor at Canvas salon recently and had a great experience! She was so professional and sweet, and worked with me to give me exactly the cut/style I wanted. The salon itself was clean and had a very warm, casual atmosphere to it that made me feel right at home. I'll definitely be coming back!

Edited: I got a great cut at Canvas shortly after businesses reopened during the pandemic. I was a bit disappointed when later I had difficulty scheduling, but the owner responded to my original review regarding that, and offered to make the scheduling easier. She was most considerate and professional, explaining that they had to work within the dynamics of the pandemic. I understand and appreciate her concern about my experience.

I saw Taylor for my first curly specific cut and she absolutely changed my life. Not only was she able to understand what I was hoping for right away but she helped me make it so I knew what was going on so I could style it myself. She was absolutely lovely and I can’t wait to go back.
