I was getting a perm for the first time from Moses hoping that it would be fantastic based on the reviews about him; however my hair doesn’t really look like what I showed him. I wasn’t sure if my side hair was long enough to achieve the look I wanted and they kept assuring me that it was fine. However, now that it’s finished, I think I should’ve waited another month to let parts of my hair grow longer before perming. Right now it looks very flat and bunched up unlike the pics I showed. Not only that but the final price was significantly more than what I booked the appointment for on Fresha. On Fresha, it states $100 dollars but that really depends after the consultation so ask in person first.

Nova Salon is the best! The staff is very welcoming and make you feel comfortable offering water, coffee, tea etc. They are also very accommodating with appointments. My personal stylist is Moses. He is very personable and also meticulous with cut and color. Moses takes his time and the results are amazing! I had a single process. Moses was able to blend and even my root and base color. This was done without using bleach! Every other place I’ve been to find it hard to believe that he can accomplish this, but he can! Moses also does a great precision haircut. He gave me a chic bob cut with stacked back. I have also attached before and after photos for your viewing pleasure! Moses assistant was also very good. She helped apply color and did a great 15 minute shampoo/massage. The salon also offers free parking valet which is a plus! (We all know how frustrating it could be looking for parking in Flushing!) This review deserves my five stars! Thank you so much Moses and Nova Salon!

I visited Nova Salon to see Moses with high hopes after a year-long journey to lighten my hair. Unfortunately, my experience didn’t turn out as I had hoped. I specifically requested lighter hair but left the salon with darker hair and roots that didn’t even match my natural color, which was very upsetting. the front pieces are also more gray and still are after washing it out twice. Considering the damage bleaching can cause, knowing I now have to get this fixed somewhere else makes the situation even more frustrating especially with how far I’ve come to lighten my hair. That said, I want to acknowledge the salon’s kindness and professionalism. After I reached out, they immediately responded and offered to fix the issue, which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, I’m in the middle of moving and cannot take them up on their offer. I was hoping the first time, it would be as I wanted and requested. While their customer service is excellent, I want to caution anyone visiting to ensure you’re clear with what you want about your desired result before starting. I’m leaving 2 stars because of the outcome, but I do want to highlight how kind and understanding the staff was in trying to address my concerns.

My hair was blonde and my roots were growing out so I wasn’t sure what to do, but Moses helped me and dyed my hair really nicely and also gave me advice on when I can bleach my hair again if I want to etc. Highly recommend, very nice and fast thank you!

Elson has been doing my hair for two years now and I wouldn’t want to change again. He’s the only hair stylist I can finally trust after looking for twenty years since I came to the States. Whether it’s cut, color or perm, I know I can just give him some rough ideas and let him execute and rest assured that it’ll turn out fantastic.

First, Elson tailors every haircut to each individual’s unique features instead of just following trends. He takes his time, never rushes, and only finishes when he’s completely satisfied with his work. You can truly feel his dedication and passion for what he does. Plus, I get so many compliments on my hair that I can’t stop going to him, lol. I’ve been going to Elson for years now and trust him 100% with my hair. Just today, he dyed my hair, and it looks absolutely amazing. I’m confident I’ll be a loyal client until the day he retires. I had an amazing expierence at Nova salon. I had a haircut, curly perm, and also after perm treatment. My hair feels soft and healthy even after a perm. Moses and his team know what they are doing and I won't be going anywhere else from now on! Their treatment of their guests is wonderful. I was comfortable and cared for the whole time! I am in LOVE with my hair! I went to Moses to do a single color correction and he took everything into consideration: my old balayage that grew out, my skin tone, and the length! The result looks like an ombre effect which is BEAUTIFUL 😍

This hair salon is the best salon you’ll get in NYC. Always quiet and staff are always happy. Elson, the person that cut my hair gave me exactly what I requested. If you’re looking for a good cut on the go I totally recommend this place, NOVA salon.

After some extensive research on places for balayage for Asians with white hairs, I decided to book with Nova (Moses) and I did not regret it. Moses knows how to work with covering strands of white hair effectively (highlight technique) and ensure they’ll blend well as more grows out in the future. His team are also funny and friendly so the 4 hours there was not boring at all lol. I definitely recommend the place and would be returning to touch up my roots or more colorings in the future.

Update: added a picture from my most recent appointment with Moses I’m proud to say that I’ve been going to Moses since 2019 and he’s always done an amazing job with my hair. He’s always so kind and would give me such informative advice when it comes to my hair and he has always talked me out of hairstyles that wouldn’t suit me at all 😂 He also has such an incredible team that works with him. I’m so glad that he’s finally opened his own salon and I can’t wait what else the future has in store for him!
