I have been going here since they had open, only salon I truly trust if not a private stylist. While I have had many style my hair here, the owner has done mines 4-5 times in the span of several years. & she still remembers how my hair is, & how to do it just right for me, she has even given pointers to other stylists working on my hair in the past. The quality of what she does is immaculate & she speedy as hell. Never disappointed when she does my head :)

I went to this salon for Fulani braids. I clearly told the stylist I have thin hair at the top of my head, can you braid in a way to accommodate. She braided the hair so tight with a part down the middle, accentuating the thinnest part of my scalp. The owner watched this happen and said nothing because and I quote “you were already done” I leave in tears and call her to explain that I was unhappy and the owner told me she know the style wasn’t good and that she would redo the hair. I came back a few days later and she braided it in a more flattering way. A week later my hair broke from the roots, because of tension, the hair used, and an extreme lack of expertise. It is rare I write reviews like this, but this is just unacceptable. I went to a salon, in search of professional advice, hair is not my domain. And now I am bald at the top of my head. Just the most traumatic experience.

I went there twice and they pulled out my edges, and now I have to use an edge oil to grow my edges back. They’re growing back extremely well, but the point is, I didn’t come here for my edges to be snatched out of my head. I don’t like when you walk in there you don’t get the same person doing your braids, unless you specifically ask, if you specifically ask you to be assured, that whomever you want is working that day and not already booked! I will never return

I really loved my experience here. The hairstylist took her time and made sure to catch every piece of hair. My hair was really short which made me scared that my hair wouldn’t be able to braid but nopeeeee everything was able to braid. Grip game was amazing.

They braided my hair and my teen daughter's. My daughter has been using the french curl hair for about a year and is never satisfied with the end result. This time, she was quite pleased. They were very fast and the price was reasonable. My first time doing my hair in Poughkeepsie and I think I'm sticking with them.

don’t go, they made my hair uneven, the girl flipped it so i wouldn’t be able to see it. then when i went back for them to fix it and realized they cut my braids and left it like that. if i could give negative stars i would

Mama’Fa is nice, but one of her workers were not so pleasant. I asked for a certain style that, apparently, she could not do. After I told her this is not what I want, please fix it, she had a terrible attitude taking out the braids and cutting the extensions, angrily! Another worker had to step in so she could calm down. I remained calm in the chair and told Mama’Fa that the style she did looks nothing like the picture. The owner was kind and helped the other lady to fix it the proper way. Respectfully, I said thank you and walked out, but horrible customer service on her part. It makes me not want to come back. So uncomfortable not being able to express how i feel about my own hair without the hair stylist getting upset. Very unprofessional.

Visit the shop for the first time and had a great experience. My hair turned out beautiful. They did a great job mixing the hair for my braids. One of the best I seen. It was very clean, which is something I look for.

by far the worst experience. I booked my appointment for braids for today march 10th at 3:30.. didn’t get into the chair until 5. then as I’m in the chair hours go by of the braider stopping to eat. Dance etc. Mind you I’m a highschool student that needs to be to school by 7 8 am and ended up leaving at 11-11:30.. this is not professional in anyway and on top of it all the POWER goes out. I will be finding another salon.

7/10/2021:First time there and had a great experience. Mamyfa knew exactly what I wanted. She will be my go to person for now on. Very professional and friendly. 😊 I went back to Mamyfa on 11/1/2021 and baffled on why The owner Mamyfa wasn't as pleasant as she appeared to be when I first went to her back in July. Another young lady braided my hair, she was very sweet and did an excellent job. Unfortunately the vibe received from the owner was not good. At the end the owner asked me how much I paid last time and I told her I believe $170 then she said with a Stern look $180. So unnecessary. And when I was leaving she made sure she got on her phone. Very unprofessional and will not be returning. Customer service is essential for a business to stay relevant. Consistency is key!!!!! I will be taking my money elsewhere.
