I debated leaving this review for so long, however after hearing from another friend who had a similar experience (nd seeing another review on here mentioning their cleanlinrss) I felt it was right to share. I was excited to find Mae bc there are hardly any organic salon options in town. I had gone to see a stylist there (and stayed w her until she left). At my last visit, i picked up my bag and saw a pretty big cockroach crawled from under the chair I was in to behind one of the stations 😖😣 I liked my hair and didn’t want to make a scene so I didn’t say anything., however, then when I went to the bathroom (I was ready to RUN out of there but I had almost a hour drive nd really needed to go 😬) I saw yet another roach in their bathroom….this one was dead at least 😣🥴 but still. !! Disgusting.!!!! I was so bummed bc again, there are hardly any organic/non-toxic places in town. But this one’s a no from me. Thankfully I was able to find another option with the stylist I’d seen from there before who had left. It’s a cute place, and ppl are nice, but I would personally never go there again just for that reason. I think the cleanliness standard isn’t up to par with what I’m looking for in a salon unfortunately.

Not recommended based on my experience last fall. Women looking for gray blending and an even haircut may want to look elsewhere. Everyone is very nice.The extra star was because they are truly nice people, not for the results, unfortunately. Perhaps it's my fault for not seeking someone with more experience. I did find someone who is amazing and less expensive.

Amanda takes the time to talk with you about your goals for your hair and executes a color and style that work for these goals. So professional! Mae Organic is a peaceful and comfortable space. Fully recommend.

Best salon in Nashville! Amanda, the owner, is extremely talented, and her staff is always so welcoming and kind. If you are looking for a clean, bright, fun environment with safe, organic, and non-toxic products, amazing stylists, and impeccable hair cut and color, this is the place. This salon is one of a kind and truly special.

I came to Mae Organic Beauty for the first time in March and had a wonderful experience! Lily-Cate did a phenomenal job on my hair and made the experience so relaxing. Everyone I spoke to was friendly and professional. I’ll absolutely be making the drive when I need my hair done again! (photos are before and after!)

I love MAE. Lily-Cate is so sweet and always nails my color! I play with color a lot so I've done reds and caramels and most recently a dark chocolate color. I've seen a couple of negative reviews about "cleanliness" but my experience doesn't match that. It's a super cute vibe and totally comfortable. I've never seen anything that makes me think it is not up to par. Plus - no heavy ammonia smell - helps my asthma to go with organic. Lily-Cate and MAE are worth the drive for me!

Amanda is exceptional in her craft and has so much passion for organic hair color. She treats everyone with kindness and makes you feel special when you sit down in her chair. When it comes to color—this gal knows exactly what she is doing! Even the way she knows how a color will fade to look perfect is mind-blowing. Don’t hesitate to book and re-book at MAE. I absolutely love Mae Organic beauty! I have been going to Amanda for going on 7 years now and I always love everything she does with my hair. We have done everything from balayage to fashion colors to major hair cuts and they are always fabulous. She also personally trains everyone at the studio so the service is consistent and wonderful no matter who you go to. The products they use are top notch and they have so many great ones you can buy to add to your experience, however, I have never felt pressured to buy extra products. Wonderful ladies in a beautiful studio! I have also added some photos of the hair I’ve gotten done over the years by Amanda.

I have been going to Amanda at MAE for 4 years now & cannot see myself ever going anywhere else! She always makes me feel special and does the most fantastic job on my hair! MAE is a welcoming, safe environment where you can relax and be yourself. Low toxic and organic products are very important to me because of past health issues so it means the world to me that Amanda understands how important that is and she uses only the best products with the best ingredients. Do yourself a favor and book and appointment at MAE! You won’t be disappointed!!

I saw Maggie today and was totally thrilled with the whole experience. Starting at the beginning—booking was easy. Policies are clearly stated on their website so I had no confusion there when I had to reschedule for later in the day at sort of the last minute. Reminder texts were sent as well which is always helpful! Building is easy to find, clearly marked—and also has some pretty unique features that made it easy to identify where to go (cute pink steps and door!!) I was greeted immediately by Maggie, which was great because this was my first time and she is who I was seeing. The place is so super cute inside which is of course a bonus! Maggie was so sweet and friendly. I sat down and we chatted about what I wanted and I felt I clearly communicated my preferences, lifestyle, etc, and that everything was understood and supported. Maggie was very easy to talk to, as were the other women in the salon. This was the most care and attention I’ve had put into a haircut in a long time. I had a long-standing relationship with a former stylist who unfortunately moved, and ever since then I have had sub-par or downright bad experiences at other salons. I feel like some people write you off when they know you “only getting a haircut” and not doing color. Maggie took so much time to really give me a good wash/scalp massage and fantastic blowout and style. She gave me exactly what I asked for in terms of the cut and I’m very happy with it! She really could have easily rushed the job to get out of there (I was her last app of the day) but instead, she gave me a full hour of her time and attention. These days I’m just really grateful for a quality, thoughtful service or experience, so as silly as it may sound, that really did mean a lot to me and I felt like I got my money’s worth.

Maggie Phelps is absolutely amazing!! She touches up and lightens my dirty blonde hair every few months and I always leave feeling beautiful and cared for! The color is exactly what I want and she is a wonderful and kind person as well.

Maggie is wonderful. But, BEWARE, if you are placed in a position to have to make a last minute cancellation, you will be charged full price. My credit card was charged $180 when I had to made a short notice cancelation.

In the 12 years she has been cutting / coloring my hair, she absolutely nails it every time! I can't express enough how much I love this salon. As someone with a perfume allergy, I can attest that it isn't full of the overwhelming fumes that I've experienced at every other salon I've been to. Riley has been cutting my hair for a year now. She's so sweet and attentive to my particular-ness.

Kara is literally the sweetest and best stylist in town! I hate that there was a review on here upset with her for enforcing THE SALON’S late policy :( please know that when booking at Mae (or ANY salon) you are reserving their time & this is their livelihood! You are asked whether or not you agree to the policies beforehand too. Please don’t listen to this poor girl who wasn’t (& isn’t) being respectful of this amazing salon! Kara is a wonderful, well-rounded stylist of MANY years who really knows what she’s doing & always makes me feel so good while I’m there :) I’ve been seeing her for many years now and truly love the way she works magic on my hair and listens to me! Go to her if you want to LOVE your hair (but please be respectful of the SALON’S policies when booking!) 💗💗💗 love you Kara!!

MAE is a fantastic salon. The owner goes out of her way to make everyone, clients and employees safe and comfortable during this pandemic. The prices are very reasonable and the space is very nice. Also there is a weiner dog named JoJo that trots around.

Visiting MAE Organic Beauty is something I sincerely look forward to with each appointment I schedule. The stylists are unbelievably kind, caring and thoughtful and they use products I can trust to keep my hair healthy and looking beautiful. I’d give them 10 stars if I could!
