First, I want to preface that this negative review has little to do with the other stylists, both coincidentally named Van. I used to come here every few months for Van Nguyen to cut my hair. She does a great job of giving me a blunt trim and face-framing. Real simple. This negative review however has everything to do with Monica, the salon owner. She's unbelievably rude, and her behavior is wildly unprofessional. I tried calling the number listed on Google. No pick-up. I called and texted the number on her Instagram (@monica_m_beauty_salon). She leaves me on read. She calls me saying she'll look at her books after several missed calls. But she never gives me a call back after I tell her I'm just looking to get a haircut from Van Nguyen. I try going in-person, and she is so mean to me that I left crying in the parking lot. I love my hair, and I know that I'm particular about who does it and what gets done to it. She reiterates that she was "too busy" to get back to me when a simple, sincere apology would have made do. She insists that she's too busy, and she tells me she can get another lady to do my hair. I really just wanted Van Nguyen. Sure enough, she brings out the elder Van. While she was nice, I really just wanted my usual hair stylist. I felt pressured to accept a service that I wasn't fully comfortable with. And when I left, I asked for Van Nguyen's number, and Monica says that it's against salon rules to directly book stylists. Monica, if you're "too busy" to answer the phone, get an online booking system, a receptionist, or allow direct booking. Don't parade your clientele sitting in chairs in front of me (I have eyes) to prove that you're busy. Also, when I walked in, Monica has scrolling on her phone waiting for her client's hair dye to process. "Too busy." Monica, do better as a salon owner.

I have been looking for a hair stylist for quite sometime and came across Monica on Instagram. Scheduling with Monica was easy and when I went in, she was so patient and gentle with my hair. She was very friendly, easy-going, professional and knowledgeable. She took her time to color my hair and did such a beautiful job. I was very pleased with her service. Highly recommend Monica to anyone looking to get their hair colored. Attached below is a photo of what my hair looked before and after😊

Backstory: I dyed my hair Jet Black many times throughout 2023 and suddenly wanted to be spontaneous by using a hair color remover from Sally's then slapping on some dark brown dye. I messed it up real bad by doing it by myself and needed to be rescued because the new semester of school begins next week. I called on Saturday and was able to get an appointment with Monica on Wednesday. First, she had to bleach the hair to get the dark & old colors out, then she color matched the shade of the hair extensions that I brought in and chose the best brown to fit. Between the washes, the head massages were really nice, finally after coloring- she clipped the extensions in and began layering it to fit my real shorter hair. Inside the salon is modern & cute, and they have a TV & music playing. The service was very professional and it was my first time here so I was shy & nervous but there was no need to be because they are accommodating and kind. On yelp says by appointment only, but I saw that they do accept walk-ins for men's haircuts. It was all affordable, thorough, and quick - This place did a marvelous job saving my hair, I highly recommend Monica!

Do not come here if you want to keep your long hair I went in with butt length hair. Asked to keep my length, don't cut too much. She cut of 6 inches. Went from butt length to over a bra strap. Kept asking if I was ok like I could say no put the hair back! It will take a year to get back what she cut off!!!

My hair was cut by Stephanie! I've been to many hairstyles, all over the Bay Area. No one thus far has been better than Stephanie! She is very detailed and knows how to cut your hair with perfection
