I found Jolene a little over a year ago for a curly hair cut and have been back a few times as I only have my hair cut about every 6 months. I have thoroughly enjoyed every hair cut and have felt it is completely worth the drive up from Kalamazoo. Jolene does an amazing job of customizing my hair care regimen and is very helpful with finding the best products within the Innersence line that work best with my hair. She has also proven to be very accommodating and flexible when I had some last minute changes in my schedule. I have been so happy with my haircuts and Jolene’s service - her prices are also very reasonable, especially considering the amount of time she spends with each client. It’s been such a good experience, both of my sisters have also starting seeing her as well! Can’t recommend Jolene enough!

I highly recommend Jolene to anyone who is looking for an amazing and knowledgeable curly hair stylist! I first became one of Jolene's clients about a year ago when I was looking online for a curly hair stylist. For years I hated getting my hair cut because I felt like most stylists I had seen did not understand how to cut curly hair or how to help me work towards my personal goals for my own hair. I knew from the beginning that Jolene would be a great fit because she has a very thorough application process for new clients including a survey so she knows as much information about your hair as possible, and so she fully understands your personal curly hair goals. My first appointment with her was very in depth about what my current hair routine was like and how much work or maintenance I wanted to put into my hair as well as how I wanted the styling to look. Jolene was so patient with me and understood my hesitation to make big changes and how I wasn't satisfied with my haircuts in the past. She made sure I was comfortable with every cut she made and she helped me understand what I could do differently to improve my hair's health and reach my goals one step at a time. She also educated me on the impact of clean and organic products for long term hair health and how to use them properly for styling as well. I know that almost every stylist encourages the use of certain brands and products; however, I have been using the Innersense products recommended by Jolene for almost a year now and I swear I will never purchase another brand again. The products have completely changed my hair health and I no longer have any issues with dry, brittle hair or product build up. The products also last forever as a little amount goes a long way with each use.  I included a before picture of my hair before my very first appointment and a current picture for reference (both are pictures of freshly washed hair). While I enjoyed having long hair, it was very much dead at the ends and I was experiencing a lot of breakage and hair loss from the poor condition it was in. My current hair is so much healthier and the curls are much more defined and hydrated thanks to Jolene's help and guidance. Everyone's hair journey and goals are different, and Jolene is so knowledgeable in her field and can help anyone get their curls where they'd like them to be. Jolene always helps to answer any questions I have as I learn more about my hair over time. I am confident that she would be a perfect stylist for every curly hair client, and I certainly will not be seeing any other stylist in my future :)

I am not one to write a review unless service has been absolutely excellent or if it has been really bad. In this situation, unfortunately it has been really bad. I was approved by Jolene to become a client of hers and paid $100 in advance for the first appointment on July 25, 2023. When all was said and done the first visit with cost of service tip, and numerous Innersense products, including products I purchased shortly after the visit was an initial investment of over $500. I took the time to contact Innersense, to make sure that Jolene could get credit for the purchases I made directly through them. I set up a second appointment a few months later, and unfortunately had to cancel due to the fact that I had COVID. My cancellation was well within the cancellation policy. Fast-forward, and I have been trying to get in to get a haircut from Jolene since October 24, 2023. I have been put off and in my last two emails – one on December 1 and one on December 17, 2023 have been completely ignored. I have not even had the courtesy of any response at all. If she did was not want me to continue as a client, I wish that Jolene could have been honest with me, instead of leading me on for several months to believe that I would be able to get into her at a later time. I can say with confidence that this is the most demeaning, demoralizing and unprofessional experience I have ever encountered. It is now February 4, 2024 and I have not had the courtesy of a response to my last two emails. What is most disappointing is that right on Jolene’s webpage, she indicates that she is not taking appointments at this time, however, she has “wiggle room” in her schedule. I have also seen other reviewers indicate that it is very easy to get in for an appointment with Jolene. This has been an awful experience and my hope is through this communication, there will be an understanding of how this behavior can make someone feel and to avoid having anyone else have to experience this type of situation in the future.

I LOVE that it is easy to schedule with Jolene! Some stylists only open their books 3 months at a time, which can make scheduling a nightmare. I tend to procrastinate. When I decide I want a haircut, I want it in the next few weeks. I have had two cuts with her and not had any difficulty getting in. She is easy to talk to and makes the time fly by! Jolene has a wealth of knowledge and thoroughly explains what the purpose is of the products she uses. Best of all she does not pressure you to buy it, but will help you get it if you need it! I have been happy with both my haircuts and look forward to my next one with Jolene!

I have been to a handful of different curly hair stylists in the different places I have lived, but Jolene is the best by far. I noticed a huge difference in my curls after the first time she cut my hair, and I can't recommend her enough to anyone with curly hair. For the first time in my life, I feel confident about my curls! Jolene is so knowledgeable and up-to-date on the latest developments in the curly hair world, and she shares that information with her clients. When I was struggling with styling my curls, she took time to teach me how to best apply the product I was using. She is detail-oriented, thorough, and conscientious. It is truly a treat to have Jolene cut my hair, and I will never go anywhere else!

Jolene has been cutting/coloring my hair for years, and there is a reason I have stayed with her for so long. Jolene is an incredibly talented colorist and stylist, and works with you to ensure you get exactly what you want while making sure whatever she does is best for the health of your hair. She is genuine, kind, and truly pays attention to detail. Jolene also keeps up to date with the newest techniques in her field through continued education, and helps to educate those in her chair on what is best for them. I most certainly recommend Jolene if you are looking for a high quality hair stylist!

Jolene has completely transformed the way I feel about having curly hair! If it was such a good thing, (I used to get the comment "I've always wanted curly hair!" all the time) why was it SO hard to figure out how to wash it, dry it, and style it in a way that made me feel confident? And why could I never find a stylist who knew what to do with it? It was either 'crispy and flat' or giant and frizzy, never any sort of happy medium, and In the course of day to day life, I was pretty sure I was cursed 😂 and did everything I could to try to straighten it for years and years. That mindset has been completely flipped upside down. Now I LOVE my curly hair! I have the products, application instructions, and most importantly, a cut so tailored to me, my hair density and curl pattern that my hair is now one of my favorite parts of me, instead of something I feel like I'm fighting all the time. Jolene is incredibly knowledgeable (and always adding to her knowledge base - a rare trait, and one I really appreciate!) and is a great teacher when it comes to instructing you on all things curly hair. I've tried many, many stylists over the years, and haven't found anyone who even comes close to her level of expertise and experience. As an added bonus she's hilarious, straightforward, and a curly girl herself - huge perks! I always enjoy our time together so much and cannot say enough good things about my hair transformation in the last year or so I've been going to her. If you feel like you have the curly 'curse,' get yourself to Jolene! She has the patience and knowledge to help you completely shift the way you feel about your curls, as she's done for me!

Before I found Jolene, there was always a problem with consistency, not knowing what to do with my hair and never knowing how it was going to turn out. And, I was afraid to change it. Often that resulted in feeling like I had to fix it or get it fixed, lots of bad haircuts and fried hair. I was discouraged and my self esteem suffered. I feel comfortable with Jolene’s recommendations, she understands my style goals and is flexible with my work schedule. I really feel confident that it will look nice when Jolene is finished. I have been with Jolene for about 12 years. She is so patient with me since it seems like I change my mind on color or style every month! I love her suggestions on what could enhance my features as well as suggesting the best products to use on my type of hair. No harsh chemicals used on any of her clients! Jolene is also very personable and I enjoy my conversations with her on other ways of looking my best and staying healthy.

I was visiting Michigan for then summer and was in desperate need of a haircut. Having curly hair there is always a struggle to find somewhere that will cut your hair and on top of that cut it correctly. After a little research I stumbled upon Jolene. I am always hesitant at first when it comes to new hairstylists, but she was amazing. Her knowledge on curly hair is amazing and she takes the time to teach you some of what she knows. She goes in depth in the consultation so she knows exactly what is wanted. When you get to the shampoo bowl she lets you know every product she is using the benefits it will give you hair. I really enjoyed my experience and will for sure be back if I need my hair cut in Michigan again!!

Jolene was referred to me from a different hair stylist who was moving. It was such a great recommendation that I continue to see Jolene 6 years later. She is very knowledgeable about current trends and styles (something I lack in). She has taken the extra time (several times) to show me how to curl and style my hair. I always feel so great and confident after seeing Jolene. Botegga Salon is a little different in that there is no person out front (at least when I’ve gone). This is usually a little unsettling but I just take a seat and wait. Jolene always comes out after a minute or two to tell me it’ll be just another minute. I always schedule my appointments via text and I get text reminders about upcoming appointments. I love that I don’t have to make a phone call. I highly recommend Jolene to anybody looking for a new hair stylist in GR.

I found Jolene when my Fiancé started going to get his hair done by her. I had recently moved from the east side to Grand Rapids and was in dire need of a new stylist. I could not be happier with Jolene. Not only does she do an absolutely amazing job with my hair, but she is so easy and wonderful to talk to. I trust her with my hair to the point where I just tell her to do what she thinks will look good and I love it every time. 5 people (friends and coworkers) have started going to see Jolene because they loved my hair so much. Jolene is fantastic at what she does. I have gone through several big changes with her and always felt satisfied with my cut and color. I went blonde with some pink recently and it is my favorite so far! Jolene always listens to what I want and uses her knowledge to make recommendations if I am unsure. Highly recommend!

Jolene is such a great stylist and does such a wonderful job with my hair. I do not give this praise lightly. I have curly hair and am VERY picky about who I let do my hair. I have had some very bad experiences were some stylist did not understand my hair and how to take care of it. Jolene, however does an AMAZING job ever time. She knows exactly how to treat my hair and what it needs and just how to care for it. Not only that, but she is an absolute sweetheart as well! So much fun to talk to and really listens to what it is I want and need. I just love her!!! I always walk out of her chair feeling great and loving what she had done for my hair.

Jolene is the absolute BEST! I know I can go to Jolene with an idea of a cut or color and she will take that idea and make it into something that will work with my hair type. And I trust that when I say “surprise me” I will end up with an amazing hair cut and color. My daughters also get their hair cuts done by Jolene. They’re not always the best at being able to articulate what they want, but Jolene works her magic and when she’s done my daughters are grinning ear-to-ear happy with their new hair styles.

Finding a new stylist is so hard... and scary, for me anyway. I am so happy to have finally found Jolene. She has been so welcoming and professional. She listens to what I want to do with my hair and what I am struggling with. I have never had someone spend so much time teaching me and I appreciate that so much. I found Jolene about 9 months ago and haven’t looked back! During my first visit with Jolene, she made me feel comfortable and welcomed immediately. She took the time to listen to what I was looking for in terms of color and helped me make a decision that would work best for me. I have loved the results every single time! We recently did a major chop and switched up the color and not only did it turn out awesome, but Jolene took the time to show me how to style it the way I wanted (hello, beach wave), which I truly appreciated!!
