the color turned out good but even after the consultation and knowing exactly what would be done at my appointment, when i got there for the actual appointment i was made aware that my salonist didn’t know how to perform it. i was then told to go to a beauty store to get a product because she didn’t have it and spend more money than i already would’ve spent for the appointment. overall disappointed. only good thing was that the color did turn out nice, and customer service was okay. do not go here if you have extensions. hair stylist was also 30 minutes late to my consultation appointment AND hair appointment. i showed up on time to both, and sat in the lobby for 30 minutes both times waiting for her to show up, even when i had other things to do that day.

My experience here at the salon was great, everyone was very welcoming and accommodating to my son who had to join me. Erika was very sweet and personable but im sad with how my hair turned out. I asked for a chocolate brown and my hair was dyed black and I was told it will calm down after a few washes. It’s almost a month later and my hair is still jet black :( I also requested that she thin my hair and sadly she did not and now im left with a thick and bushy cut I have to deal with.

The stylist did not know how to work with my hair texture and slathered oil on it after my hair cut and told me my hair was dry after she chopped more than half the length I told her to cut. Instead of experimenting with hair you are unfamiliar with just say you can’t do it. My hair is greasy and you didn’t even ask me to do that. The hairstylist I had was very negative and rude to people in the salon during the appointment. Forget about going back I’ll tell people never to come here it’s a big waste of money and time.

This review is specifically for Stephanie Green, the manager, and Brandy E. Although I left the salon today, completely unhappy with my haircut with a different stylist I can’t express the gratitude I have for Stephanie and Brandy being so understanding and going way above and beyond to do everything they could to try and make it better for me, even though you can’t glue hair back on, you both were so understanding of my reaction and I appreciate you doing everything you could to try and fix it the best you could. I was in tears from the amount of hair that was cut off and no way to really “Fix” it so to say but the way you handled the situation and offered anything and everything to help the best you could was sincerely appreciated. Thank you guys, your professional and caring attitudes made a very depressing situation tolerable and a little easier to try and process. Just an update to the response from Penney’s. NO I absolutely did NOT get what I came for. My butt crack length hair got literally ALL CHOPPED OFF UP PAST MY BRA STRAP it’s chopped uneven and is half an inch to a full inch longer on my right side which is extremely noticeable!!! I’m completely devastated and no way to fix it without it being cut up past my shoulders now! The color isn’t what I wanted and now I have a complete new makeover that I did not ask for. The haircut is hideous and looks AWFUL. It’s the shortest I’ve ever had my hair since high school. My self image is worse than it was when I went in. My long gorgeous butt crack length Indian hair is now chopped off and gone! There is no getting over this and will take over a year to get any kind of length back. Ericka should be no longer allowed to cut anyone’s hair. She’s awful. The 4 star review was for the manager who couldn’t do anything to help make it better but understood how devastated I was. I can’t even look in the mirror without crying. Thanks so much Ericka for making my already day, month, and the next year more depressing than it already was. Much appreciated! And Scott the general manager does absolutely nothing about it

Customer service is horrible. I called for 5:30 appointment and was scheduled. Got a call back an hour before the appointment told me I could not get a haircut that day would I like to reschedule for another day. No apology no explanation. I won't be going back.

Every time I need a haircut I always request to see Veena. I am always very satisfied with my hair and leave the salon happy. Veena cuts and styles your hair exactly how you want it. She is a perfectionist and very sweet.

Having had a very good experience previously, it pains me to leave this review about my 9/3 experience but I need to be honest with you all to help you get better for the next person. If a stylist isn't as skilled with something, they need to understand the importance of being honest regarding that and allowing the customer to make an informed decision. As result, I spent the most time I've ever spent, paid the most $ I've ever paid and my granddaughter's hair looks the worst that it's ever looked after leaving a salon chair. This combination is deeply concerning to me, as I'm sure it would be to anyone. And it should be concerning to JcPenny as well. Stylists who aren't honest about their skill-set level will sour customers from returning and using the other very talented stylists you have. If it were not for a positive experience the first time, I'd have left yesterday vowing to NEVER come back. While the stylist was very personable and kind, which is much appreciated, she now has to also be honest. "I can do that but it's not my strongest skill set." This allows a customer to decide whether or not to take that risk. And I wouldn't have. Because now I have to spend more money getting her hair redone much sooner than I would have. Extremely disappointed.

I am going to just start off with the most basic low rated review and just say, if i could give this “salon” less than 1 star i would do so. me and my mom had needed last minute hair shampoos and blow outs for an event that night, we understand a last minute booking isn’t ideal and weren’t expecting, “hollywood red carpet” do’s. just a simple, slick back PONY TAIL for me, and a pony tail with some volume for my mom. at first everything was well, shampoo was amazing, however it just went down hill FAST from there. Both of us expressed concerns throughout the process however, we were met with “don’t worry trust the process” and “we know what we are doing”. which i figured they did. At the end of the “process”, we had both been un happy with our do’s, Both of us were given a hair style that was EXACTLY like what we came in with, messy pony tail, not slicked AT ALL, and my moms which wasn’t voluminous, just plain flat. As we started to express our concerns, my hair stylist Mariah, i believe, became very obviously agitated, and stormed off. Any professional would want to make this right, but we’re told we would have to pay for a whole other “do” if we wanted it to be right. We agreed that we should only pay for our shampoo and blow dry, not for the attitude and sloppy mess. manager Ana was very kind and agreed, despite my hair dresser talking over us, blaming us for her disgraceful work. will NOT be returning, and i do not recommend this hair salon.

I have been having my hair done at JCPenney Salon, by Sandra, for about 5 years. Sandra is sweet, kind and does a wonderful job with my curly hair. Everyone at the salon is friendly. Great place with reasonable prices on haircuts, color, products and highlights.

So… my wife went in to get her hair dyed brunette with some blonde highlights and get an undercut. I think the exact word for the color was either “honey” or “caramel” blonde. My wife left with orange hair and her undercut was visibly uneven. Like I’ve cut hair zero days in my life and I could cut a straighter line than that. They let her leave like that. She asked about the color and they said it’s get better with time. You want my business again? Refund her money. I don’t trust you to touch my wife’s hair again

They won't kill you, while they give you a bob instead of what you asked for. After thinking about it for a day or so, the service here was polite, but unacceptable. I went in with shoulder length, beautiful hair. Asked for a trim to about chin height, and left with the worst helmet bob I've ever seen. It's a crime. 1 star - avoid. Edited to change rating to a 1*

Vena is amazing! She pays such attention to detail and gets the layered cut right every time. Vena factors in the texture of my hair and shape of my face when advising me on what styles may or may not work for me. I started with Vena over 10 years ago at another salon and loved the way that she cut my hair! If she ever left JCP, I would follow her to the new salon. Thank you, Vena, for consistently providing the highest quality hair cuts and color!

I use to drive from Ocala to the Oaks Mall in Gainesville just to have my haircut cut at this salon, so instead I moved to Gainesville to be closer to this salon. Lol. Not really. It is an awesome salon though. I always have Ms. Powell cut my hair, she does an amazing job!

I went to have a cut with Veena. She is so professional, perfectionist and she care about my hair. She is very sweet lady and she takes her time to make sure that my hair cut is correctly. I never found a good hairstylist in Gainesville that can cut my straight hair in layers correctly, until now. She is the best!

I've had Martha trim my hair twice now and am happily impressed by how well she's helping me grow out a terrible cut of four months ago. She looked at a photo taken when my hair looked good and has been able to coax it back to that style. She really listens to what you want and is skillful at her craft.

Worst experience of my life. Workers are so irresponsible, booked an appointment with no people available. They had me wait and the hairdresser for my appointment did not even address me about the fact. DO NOT GO HERE. Super rude too, just waisted my time.

I went in with a reference picture, request that they would match the color in the picture and blend my roots accordingly. The hairstylist said that she could do it with confidence. When the hairstylist started I explained what I wanted again. She reassured me she knew what she was doing. Having experiences with having my hair colored in the pass I noticed she wasn’t using the right color or placement of the color. Numerous times I stopped her and asked if she was using my reference picture. I told another hairstylist this isn’t what I asked for and she assured me that it will come out how I requested it. Upon completion it resembled nothing that I asked for, It wasn’t layered, the correct color, or the right length. I payed $100 for nothing to change. The first picture was my reference the second picture is what I received.

Jill was amazing! I haven't liked my haircut ting experience in the past couple of years. I took my chances going here today and I can't be happier. It was a great experience. Jill was nice and funny. She wasn't too scared to do a women's undercut and did it just how I love it. I'm so happy to have finally found somewhere for my cut! Very happy!
