Rachel is the BEST! She is amazing at hair color, especially highlights! Today I had the pleasure of meeting Hot Mess's owner, who is an absolute doll. Hot Mess Studio is amazing! The salon is gorgeous and they offer so many awesome services- hair, lashes, facials, etc! I got my hair styled by Janelle for a wedding and got SO many compliments all night! Tara and her staff are the best! And make sure to check out the bathroom and take a selfie 😉🤳🐆💕

I really enjoyed my experience at Hot Mess! I was greeted with so many smiles, along with a fluffy friend, named Mango, who was super sweet and fun to pet! I was offered water, tea, coffee, and a variety of snacks to choose from. I had Tara as my hair stylist, who was styling my hair for a wedding I was going to. After only seeing my inspiration picture twice, she absolutely crushed it! She was really nice and very easy to talk to.

This was my first visit, and I was impressed! The place is clean and has a welcoming atmosphere. The reception staff was very accommodating and friendly, offering me a beverage upon arrival. My hairstylist, Alexis, was exceptional—professional, efficient, and attentive to my requests. Despite having very long hair, she managed to give me a perfect haircut and blowout in under an hour. I highly recommend this salon and will definitely be returning!

I had such an amazing experience with Hot Mess for my wedding! Vicki was my point of contact who helped keep everything organized, like the timeline of the beauty appointments for my girls, the payments, and answered all of my questions in such a timely manner. Jess did my hair and makeup and I absolutely loved it, it was exactly what I was hoping for!! Jenna and Chelsea did the hair and makeup for my bridesmaids, mom and MIL, and they did an amazing job. Everyone loved how their look turned out, and they kept us on schedule the morning of the wedding. They came to us on location in Stone Harbor and it was a seamless experience. Highly recommend to any couple searching for hair/makeup for their wedding!

Book them for your wedding! I worked with Jackie for makeup and Janelle for hair. First of all, i have very thin hair and I was worried because I never did a hair trial. Janelle knew what to do with my hair and made me feel secure my extensions would not show and that sweating would not expose my scalp with the products she used. SHE WAS RIGHT. I was drenched on the dance floor and pretty much everything was still in place the next day. I loved how the hair came out. I showed her an inspo pic and it came out different but better than I had envisioned. Jackie’s artistry with make-up made me feel like an absolute princess on my wedding day. She is really talented and skilled when it comes to application, coloration, and style. I asked for monochromatic for the wedding day and she really came through for me. She enhances your features and even though you know you’re wearing a lot of make up you still look like YOU! If you are a bride who is looking for a MUA who has worked with different skin tones and different styles of make up - book Jackie. Thank you also to Max and Vicki for being at the top of their game - bookings, concerns, smoothness of interaction. YES YES YES BOOK HOT MESS. 🤣🤣🤣

Just outstanding. Cannot recommend Hot Mess enough I was obsessed with how I looked on my wedding day and was so appreciative of Julie and Christina for helping me get there. I was extremely indecisive about EVERYTHING when it came to my wedding, especially how I wanted my hair and makeup. Both Julie and Christina were SO patient during both the trial, leading up to the big day, and on the day. I can’t imagine how frustrating it is to work with someone who doesn’t know what they want at all, but they were so chill, kind, and helpful. I was even able to reach out to Julie (who did my makeup) all between the trial and the wedding day with requests, changeups, questions, etc. She got back to me so qui8ckly each time and assured me I’d get exactly what I wanted – and then I did! Hot Mess sent a team of 4 to do hair and makeup for all my 8 bridesmaids, my mother, and my mother-in-law. They were all so accommodating and were able to work so well in the space we gave them in our hotel. Getting my hair and makeup done and spending time while my ladies got theirs done was truly a highlight of the entire day and I thank the Hot Mess team so much for that. HUGE plus that my hair and makeup held throughout windy pictures on a sunny boardwalk and dancing all night long. I would be remiss to not mention Max and Vicki who were in constant communication with me before booking and all the way up to the big day. They were both so responsive and sent helpful reminders, making it easy for me to forward important day of information to my bridesmaids. They made scheduling and logistics so painless and I never worried about a thing.

HIGHLY recommend Hot Mess, especially Alicia. My hair and makeup was everything I wanted and more. She was fabulous through two trials (one just hair, and one for both hair and makeup for my bridal shower) and was an expert at picking the extensions that would work best for my big day. I adore her so much that I switched over to her for my regular cut and colors. There is no one I’d trust more with my hair than Alicia, including myself!

Horrible unprofessional experience!!!😝😡 About 5 wks ago I called and spoke with Laura. I told her I needed my hair/makeup done as a Mother of the Groom for this my sons wedding, Sunday, 9/24. We talked, I told her my needs and she said that she would have Vickey do my hair and makeup. I emailed her 2x pictures of the style I wanted and she reviewed the email, looked at the picture and that’s when she suggested Vickey. The appointment was made and all I had to do was call back to let her know if I was coming at 10:30 AM or 11:00 AM. Welll…. I called back the very next day. Laura was off. Left a detailed message with the receptionist telling her I would be there at 11:00 AM and asked to have Laura call me back to confirm she got the message. No call back from anyone. (I have all of my phone call records of the amount of times I called this salon and either spoke with someone or left voicemails.) I called back the next week. Left another detailed message with a receptionist because Laura was “unavailable”. No response back from Laura. I called 2 more times left voicemails- no response from anyone. This was 2 1/2 weeks out at this point. Checked my emails, junk/spam email folders- no emails. So basically for 4 weeks I tried to contact and get a response back about my appointment from ANYONE at this point!!! I got injured and sick, was in bed or busy with doctors and hospitals to continue to follow up when it was 2 wks out. I called last Sunday! Left a frantic voicemail asking for anyone to call me back! I explained that “the date is only a week away and why was no one responding to my several calls and voicemails??” No response. Monday 9/18 I called and spoke to the receptionist. She was very nice and she even commented on “how calm I was given the lack of response from the salon”. I was calm because I thought I had the appointment all set!!-as told by Laura in mr FIRST and ONLY conversation with her!!! I explained my situation and told the receptionist I was upset as I made the appointment 5 wks prior with Laura and I wanted to speak with Laura or Vickey. Laura was off-again. Does she ever work?? Got a call back from the same receptionist who contacted Laura and I was told that they can’t help me. I said WHAT!!!!! I have an appointment! She said “Laura emailed me 1 1/2 wks ago telling me that they can’t help me!!” “I never received an email!” I said! She said “well yes, Laura said she was having trouble getting the email to go thru to you.” I said- “well then why didn’t she call me back?!!! I left about 10 messages/voicemails!” She said “I don’t know, but I’m sorry we can’t help you.” This was 6 DAYS BEFORE THE WEDDING DATE OF 9/24!!!! NO ONE COULD CALL ME? AND WHY DID THEY CANCEL ANYWAY?? VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!! DO NOT TRUST THESE PPL!! DO NOT GO HERE!!!

I had a fantastic experience working with Tara and the team at Hot Mess. Max and Vicki were super communicative throughout my planning process of setting up appointments and payment. Tara did my hair and makeup for both my trial and my wedding day. She was so thoughtful throughout the experience, listening to what I wanted and making my vision come true. I was nervous about changing my hairstyle between my trial and my wedding, but was so happy with the french twist look Tara was able to do without flinching. We used the hair piece that my grandmother wore at her own wedding and I felt gorgeous all day long. Not a hair out of place -- she is truly a pro! On top of that, her energy was incredibly calming and confidence boosting on an important day for us. I feel so grateful to have worked with her.

I wanted something a little non-traditional, makeup that felt like me but just elevated and she completely knocked it out of the park. They were so friendly and it felt like having close friends with me in the room all morning. The trial was a great experience and allowed for an even better final product on wedding day. Jess did hair and Jaclyn did makeup and everything turned out incredible. Even my bridesmaids were commenting on how wonderful the experience was and how amazing everyone looked. Significant other had her hair consultation and after that her cut, color, and styling done here. The artist was very helpful and informative about what she recommended. The pricing is right on par with what she considers a boutique style salon to cost for everything at $320. The consultation was free. She would recommend this salon to anyone looking in the Asbury park area.

WOW! I am so happy I chose Hot Mess for hair and makeup for my wedding! They were pros! So easy to work and plan with. Alicia did an INCREDIBLE job making me look and feel gorgeous. My whole bridal party looked absolutely stunning and my mom who was so afraid of having her hair and makeup done felt and looked beautiful. Makeup and hair survived all day in the hot beach sun and weather and I look flawless in my photos! Thank you thank you thank you for your incredible work. Was super excited about this place because it is so close to my apt, and they did a decent job the first time I went. However, I’m very disappointed that they charged me $50 for having to cancel on a hair appointment when I had a family emergency and literally had to hop on a plane that day to go home to my terminally ill dad. Tacky.
