I saw Tristany for a curly cut and it turned out AMAZING! I was in shock that my hair could even look like that!! I’m very low maintenance with my hair and Tristany made sure that I left with a hair routine that was easy, but still with incredible results. She showed me step by step how to style it, gave me recommendations for products to use, and overall just made me feel incredibly comfortable and heard. I’m typically a bit anxious at the salon (to the point where I cut my own hair for years) and Tristany just made it so wonderful for me. I couldn’t recommend a better salon or a better stylist to get a curly cut in Gainesville!!! Thank you Tristany!

DO NOT go here for IBE hair extensions. I spent almost $800 at the salon for my hair to consistently fall out within a few days of the application. I have had extensions for over 7 years and have never had an experience like this one. I gave the stylist 3 chances to fix my hair, and each time they fell out. After my third visit that I again had to sit there and take time out of my work day so it could be “fixed” they fell out less than 48 hours later. At that point I politely requested a refund, as it was clear they did not know what they were doing. Mel the owner refused due to “policy” which I was never made aware of. Never in my life have I been spoken to as a client, like Mel spoke to me. She was incredibly rude and antagonistic. At no point did the stylist or owner apologize for the issues with my hair. Mel didn’t even reach out to discuss the issues I was having or apologize for the incredibly poor experience. I had to contact the salon directly to get her to call me. Instead, Mel told me that “they don’t offer IBE as a service” even though I texted the salon number directly to confirm they did and was scheduled with the stylist. Instead, Mel told me I was taking money out of the stylists paycheck if she refunded me. Sounds like she should rethink her business practices if you can’t refund a client for shoddy work. I would be absolutely ashamed as an owner if a client was walking around town with her extensions completely falling out. I sent photos to the stylist who previously did my extensions and she told me they were very clearly installed incorrectly. My other stylist also looked up HFOS in the IBE certification data base and no one at the salon is certified in this service. They shouldn’t be offering it. I told this to Mel and she said “no one in the area is certified”, which is also not true. I now have to pay to go to my old stylist to have this completely redone with absolutely no compensation from the salon. The only thing I was offered was to come in again for a FOURTH time to have someone else take a look. I refuse to let a stylist who is not certified in this method touch my hair again. I expect that there is damage to my extensions due to the inappropriate application. My holiday photos are ruined, because my certified stylist cannot get me in before them. I would think incredibly hard before going to this salon and giving the owner who clearly cares nothing about her customers appearance or business.

I cannot begin to express how much I love this salon. The women truly care about you and your beauty needs, going above and beyond to ensure you leave feeling confident and pretty. Sophia, Mel, Natasha, Mojgan, and Alex are all absolute gems. Each one is incredibly skilled in their craft and takes the time to listen to exactly what you want, while offering expert advice and suggestions. Their attention to detail is unmatched.

I 100% recommend HFOS!! Bridget Enstrom is absolutely the best. She’s not only so intelligent and knows what she’s doing, but she’s also so personable and fun to hang out with! Bridget saved my hair. If there’s anyone I would trust with my hair it would be her. Seriously never been so happy with it, can’t stress that enough. GO TO BRIDGET!!!!

I had an amazing time at this salon today! The atmosphere and design of the salon was fabulous! Lainey was able to squeeze me in and give me a hair transformation that totally gave me a confidence boost! She was professional and friendly and gave me the best experience! I religiously get my nails done here by Sakinah. The salon offers so many services and the nail techs are incredibly talented! Sakinah always understands my vision and my nails have been so much healthier after consistently being seen by her. If you have curls Tristany is your girl. She’s helped me start on my natural hair journey. Shes very knowledgeable, caring, honest and detailed in her work. My first cut with her I was not feeling my curly hair because I was so used to wearing it and having it cut straight, but she encouraged me on my journey. Six months later (now), I went in for my second curly cut along with color and this was the first time in my life that I walked out of a salon absolutely LOVING my hair - my natural hair! The cut is flawless and color is amazing. Taylor also helped out when I was there and she was very kind and knowledgeable as well! Thank you ladies, much love!!!

Tristany is a triumphant wizard who is intuitively talented at textured haircraft and bright with empathetic communication. I take her several, often unrelated photos of hair and gesture at them. Tristany is able to translate that uncertain inspiration into the best haircut experiences I’ve had. Every time I’ve gone to her I’ve left feeling more “me” and I knew I could. She has a feel for modern, fun styles that grow out reliably into hair I feel good in for months and months. I trust her to understand how my thick curly/wavy textured hair will act when cut, washed, slept on, styled, and sweat in. Very grateful for her passion and shear ;) dedication to her work.

Went through their website, created an account answered all the questions and made the appointment. Tried calling the business with no answer, only instructions to go to website. Arrived and waited for someone to show up at the front desk for 25 mins and found that my information did not update their system. Not sure what has happened with personal customer service but don't waste your time with this place!

I had an amazing experience at the HFOS salon, and I felt incredibly well taken care of. Bridget did an exceptional job with my hair, and the head massage was a delightful treat. I couldn't have asked for a better pampering session! Highly recommend!

Overall, I really tried to be positive about the experience I had, but a week after my adjustment appointment, to fix how it looked after the first appointment, I am just not happy with what I got for how much I paid. I was referred to HFOS by a coworker who has gone for a while and never had any issues. I had gone back and forth about booking for about 5 months because their prices were out of my budget and I had my hair fried by a stylist 2 years prior. Since then I had been doing my hair myself focusing on gaining back healthy long hair and dying it at home, but I was up front with how bad the banding and color correction was from the very start. When I finally saved up the money to pamper myself and get it done for my birthday I was so excited. My main insecurity was the banding of different colors in my roots and there was nothing said about not being able to cover them up. Tristany was my stylist and she is very passionate and knowledgeable about curly hair which is great, but I felt like that was the main thing she focused on especially at the end. Almost like trying to distract from the roots by getting my natural curls to show. I was there for 3 hours and the studio was dark so I didn't notice the roots were so bad until I got home and immediately freaked out because she had died my hair darker than it was before so the light orange roots were more noticeable and it was a distinct line. I will attach pictures of before I went in and what it looked like after. Luckily she took my call the following day and fit me in the next week for an adjustment on my actual birthday which was great, but she insisted on using Demi color so when my roots grew out it wouldn't be a big difference, but I wasn't worried about that since I planned on getting the roots touched up to match the color on my ends. Within about 5-7 days the demi color was practically gone and you could see the line again so I went to Sally Beauty and bought permanent color to fix it myself which was under 10 dollars versus $300. (my colleague said she rarely pays more than 150-200 with her stylist and everyone at my work recommended I not go back after seeing it) The salon is cute and chic, but to be honest it was filthy. The workstations did not appear to be cleaned and when I went the first time I was given an open glass of water that was placed on the stylists workstation with hair all over it and touching the water. Hair fell in the cup at one point and it made my stomach turn. The brushes had hair all in them and looked sticky. I was a little hesitant to even write a review because after my first appointment I read all of the previous ones (which I should have done before going) and did not like how the owner, Mel, responds very snotty and rude back to customers that had bad experiences or didn't feel that the salon was the best fit for them. Ultimately I just don't want anyone to spend $300 to be disappointed like I was. I am not broke, but that is just an amount I am a little uncomfortable throwing away when I spent a total of 5hrs getting it done between the two appointments (had to call out of work) and had to fix it myself anyways.

This is the best salon in Gainesville. I was stressed when I came to school because I had to find a new hair stylist to do my blonde but then it ended up being my favorite salon I’ve ever been to in my life! I used to go to Liv and unfortunately she doesn’t work there anymore, but all of the ladies here are amazing. UF blonde girls - go here!!!

As a busy new momma words can’t express how beautiful not just the shop is but the staff here. I called and was able to get my haircut that same day due to a cancellation. They washed deep conditioned, cut and even did a blow out for me. My stylist said I just want to take extra care of you and make you feel extra special. It was so nice to just sit in the chair and relax. No pressure to talk or sales pitch about products. At the end I was given tips on how to take care of my blow out and shown the products they used which fyi smell amazing and make your hair feel like silk and I am a hard core olaplex fan so definitely try their brand at least once. They even have a barbershop in the back for men that you can book with, a nail salon and so much more. I felt welcome from start to finish and I can’t wait to see the Jones vile location when it opens up. Please go see any staff there but huge hug and shout out to Sophia. You made me feel alive again and showed me how busy mommas can still rock it 2. See y’all again soon.

I am a long time client of Melissa’s and HFOS. My two most recent experiences at HFOS I have had the pleasure of working with Gracie. On 12/26 I did a blowout with Gracie for my birthday dinner. She made me feel so pampered and beautiful. Last week, I needed a last minute highlight and I was excited to see Gracie available. She was able to brighten me up while adding dimension. Everything I asked for and more. My hair is so much more lively and much healthier. Not to mention, I LOVE the way she curls my hair. Thank you HFOS and Gracie for a great experience once again :)

I have been going to the owner, Mel, for years since before HFOS salon opened & I can’t be any more happier with her services! She helped transform my fried bleach blonde hair many moons ago into the healthy, happy locks they are now! She gives me tips and tricks that I would have never known to do which I need! She even has had educational events for the public to learn a thing or two on styling techniques . Mel stays on top of the latest trends with color, cuts and extensions. She attends hair classes in places like NYC to continue her education & makes sure her staff is up to date with everything as well. The HFOS vibe is everything when you walk in. It’s esthetically pleasing & all the staff get along really well. They’re like one big happy family! I even take my partner here now to have his hair cut & he loves it. Thanks for providing great cuts, colors & a fun atmosphere each time I come in!

I’ve gotten manicures and Gel X extensions with both Sakinah and Alex. They are both amazing!! My manicures last a long time, and I get so many compliments on my nails. I’ve been getting my nails done here for several months, and they do a great job keeping my nails healthy!

Let me tell you something about HFoS, Mel has been doing my hair for seven years. I've been with her since she was working for a salon, moved into her own booth rental, and then transitioned into her own office with employees under her. Melissa has been the type of person to be very detail oriented to the point where i- a total control freak- show up to her booth and hand her the creative license to my looks. I'm talking, " I don't know mel, do whatever to my hair before my engagement pics " and I trust her everytime. She's done my hair for my engagement, custom dyed clip in extensions for me as well. Melissa is one of the greats, anyone working under her has to he too, she's a good judge of character and her tenacity and hunger to learn more about what's on trend and how to give what a client wants and needs with their looks shows.

You cannot go wrong with anyone on the team for your hair needs. I personally now see Mel for my extensions. I am a curly haired girl and it has been super hard finding extensions to match the pattern, along with the color. Mel listened to my needs/wants and made me feel beautiful in my new extensions. I told her that I wanted to do more of a creative color on my extensions and she made sure to match it beautifully to my hair. Aside from the quality of work in the salon, HFOS has an attentive staff and an overall warm environment which keeps me coming back. I know that anytime I’m there I’m in good hands 🤠
