The front staff is so incredibly nice every time I visit. I recently had a massage with Rashida, and it was one of the most amazing massages. 10 out of 10 would recommend. She was very mindful of my body. She even talk to me through some mindful breathing.

I really wanted this to be a relaxing experience, but from mismanagement in communications from the manager and her team to subpar service - cold hands, no pressure even when asked, swapping therapists mid session even when we were promised that would not happen, my experience was anything but - when I asked for some kind of concession, I was dismissed - I see another reviewer experienced the same - I would think twice before going to a chain spa and would stick to a local boutique spa where service and customer experience is deemed paramount.

I hate writing bad reviews. But the manager suggested I leave a review. So here I go. Let me say at the beginning that I typically have great experiences at this location. Also, I must say, the front desk staff are extremely nice and friendly and set the tone for great experience. However, for the second time in as many visits, I had the same type of unpleasant experience during my massage. In my line of work as a pilot, I experience several spas all over the globe. I cannot remember ever experiencing pain or cringing; as I did on this most recent treatment. The pain was caused by the therapist placing extremely cold hands on my back causing a startle reaction that then caused painful back muscle cramping. You can imagine the reaction. Nobody wants that. Also, every time during this recent massage when lotion was applied it was uncomfortably cold. It was so uncomfortable, I began to cringe in anticipation every time lotion was applied. Since I'd had the same unpleasant experience for the second treatment in a row, with a different therapist, it gave me pause to think that maybe this was somehow a systemic issue. I realize, it also could be just a fluke that it happened to me twice in row. The manager I spoke to regarding the first time it happened seemed a little defensive when I spoke to her. This time seemed to be better. I'm only hopeful that it is resolved as I love massages. I was told that there are lotion warmers in each room and it was the therapists choice to use them. I would have hoped that after I alerted the therapist during the session that it was extremely cold, that she would have used it. She did not. I guess when there is a schedule to keep and it's during a massage, it may have been too late to do that. I get that. When speaking to the manager this time, I suggested that they may want to make it policy that the therapists use the lotion warmers.....and that they may want to warm their hands before touching a client for a message. The first therapist a few months ago knew her hands were cold and warned me. My first thought was that if you know your hands are cold, why would you even touch a person's back.....and not rectify/warm them before beginning the service?

I used to enjoy the facials at Hand and Stone in Poughkeepsie, but my experience with their monthly membership has been extremely frustrating. After being heavily pushed to sign up, I expressed concern about my ability to use the monthly credits. The front desk assured me I could "carry over" credits and cancel anytime easily. However, after months of being charged $90 without using any services, I submitted a cancellation request in writing in July 2024. I never received a response and assumed the cancellation was processed. Fast forward to November, and I discovered I was still being charged. When I called, I was told only a specific staff member, Jada, could confirm cancellations. When we spoke, she informed me that they’d left a message asking me to call back—apparently required to cancel, despite my email. Then came another surprise: an additional $90 cancellation fee or the “option” to freeze my account instead, which she tried to sell me on. When I attempted to explain my frustration, Jada repeatedly talked over me and even put me on hold mid-sentence, never returning. Her tone and approach were rude and dismissive. This company makes cancellations needlessly difficult and clearly prioritizes retaining fees over genuine customer care. If you’re considering a subscription here, beware—it’s far from straightforward to cancel, and the customer service is anything but professional.

I went for a massage here and was very unhappy with the outcome. The massage was uncomfortable and awkward, and the therapist did not make the experience relaxing. I will continue to drive an hour to Elements in Ridgefield.

My first massage at Hand Stone exceeded my expectations. Brian (or Bryan) was very kind and a great listener. He worked out a major knot in my right shoulder, back, and arm. I slept so well that night and most of my pain and tingling has been eliminated. I joined the membership program and will be receiving monthly massages so his handiwork isn’t undone. He deserves 100 stars 🌟. Thank you for your positive energy and encouragement.

Amanda S. is a miracle worker! I was having consistent back pain every single day that began in January. I first went for a massage in June where I explained my back issues to Amanda. She gave me an awesome massage and my back pain went away instantly. I wish I had gone sooner because at that point I was just living with the pain and adjusting my life to it. A couple months later I moved the wrong way and the pain came back, but after another massage with Amanda I walked out of the spa without any pain again! I have signed up for the monthly membership and I look forward to my massage every month. I also want to say the front desk staff are very welcoming and take their time with you. I never feel rushed, whether on the phone or in person. They are the type of people I want greeting me when I enter a spa! They are also very thorough in explaining everything and welcomed my questions.

I would give 0 stars because unfortunately there were no positives to take from this. I took my girlfriend for a massage for her birthday. I watched her walk in excited and ready to be relaxed and she walked out feeling uncomfortable and stressed. She felt that the interactions and atmosphere were awkward and not very welcoming. The massage itself she felt was painful at times and even when communicating this to her therapist there was no difference. The last time she had a professional massage was at a different place and she loved it. Felt very relaxed and comfortable with her therapist and the massage was very soothing. I should have booked there again but there was a deal for first time customers here and I decided to give it a try. I regret it now and feel that the money I spent was completely wasted because she felt anything but relaxed. It also made her feel bad that she didn’t enjoy her gift. This is not how a massage experience should make you feel.

I went for my first facial and massage today. My massage was with Xavier. He was awesome! Made me feel super comfortable and he knew exactly how much pressure to put on without even having to tell him he could read my body language. I told him I had a kink in my neck for a while and he really focused on that area for me and I feel so much better! I had my facial with Sophia, she was so kind and very gentle. She would always lightly touch me before she would touch my face and then lightly touch me when she was done doing what she was doing. Again she made me feel super comfortable. She was very knowledgeable. Very kind. Overall, my experience was great. It was very clean in there I enjoyed the music and how it had the white noise also playing, I would highly recommend coming here!

Had a massage this morning, masseuse was wonderful and sweet but I paid for the 1hr introductory Swedish massage and added a scalp massage and foot treatmentwhich were extra charges. My appt was at 10am and I was done and dressed at 10:54am NOT EVEN A FULL HOUR for an hour massage (which fine print does say included changing time etc) but i added on 2 extra services that should have extended time not been taken away from my massage.

I’ve been getting facials done here for the past 4 months. I’ve seen 3 different estheticians and ToniAnn is hands down the best person I’ve seen and I will not be going to anyone else. ToniAnn always tells me the products she’s using on my face and addresses all of my skin concerns. She recommends great products and always gives me samples to try out before buying. My last facial I went in with bad acne bumps that were huge and inflamed. The next morning it was practically all gone. After my facials with ToniAnn my skin looks amazing and I always get comments that my skin is glowing. I’ve always struggled with dry and acne prone skin, but thanks to ToniAnn I’ve seen such a huge difference.

Sorry to say on this mother's day and attempting to visit this place for the first time, I am giving a 1 star review due to the inability of giving 0. Paid for 1 hour session, was running 20 minutes late, advised that I was willing to just get 1/2 hour massage as many other therapist's offer, they said there was no point in showing up and charged the 1/2 hour. Just as I was discouraged to go to the appointment, NEVER stepping a foot in that place. Instead, i recommend Appearance Salon and Day Spa who treated me like royalty a couple of weeks ago in lieu of my birthday.

I am not able to get massages often due to time restraint but I was able to get one yesterday. I had the pleasure of having Nikki as my masseuse. She was very thorough and asked all very good questions prior to my 1 hour massage. I asked her to work on my plantar fasciitis and she agreed but warned me it was going to be painful for her to work some of it out. It was a bit uncomfortable but nothing like the pain I get from the plantar fasciitis itself. After my session she explained the cause and ways I can help improve it on my own. It's the day after and I feel a major difference. Such relief. Thank you, Nikki! I would give 10 stars to you. The only reason I deducted a star is the way the front of house still tries to push their monthly subscription after politely declining and talking very rushed.

I’ve been going to Hand n Stone consistently for about a year and have tried many different massage therapists as I like seeing everyone’s technique. I made an appt earlier this week as I was having very bad upper back/neck pain. I got in with Brian and let me just say, he was AMAZING! He was so nice, knowledgeable and I loved his technique. He seemed to truly care and gave me advice on what to do after to help minimize the pain coming back. I feel SO much better today, I will definitely be going back to him again next time! Thank you! 😊

Upset and angry I took off a day to come get a Scheduled massage and after answering them mimi wouldn't give me a massage. I'm so upset. I had a medical condition and was fully 100%cleared. I tried showing my clearance but that wasn't good enough. I don't need a speedy recovery bc I'm fine and well. WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ASKED PRIOR TO ME MAKING AN APPOINTMENT AND TAKING THE DAY OFF FROM WORK WAS FOR THE FRONT DESK TO ASK QUESTIONS 1ST.

My boyfriend surprised me with a facial and scalp massage. I have been to other spas before, but only for massages. But, this was hands down the most relaxing experience. The scalp massage alone felt like heaven. It was such a good experience that we ended up leaving with a membership. Candace was so lovely and knowledgeable about the health of my skin and throughout the service!

Very unhappy with my massage. Went due to stiffness from a long travel in a car. Booked a 60 min massage was taken back to the room at 1:53. Massage started at 1:57. She finished the massage at 2:45. How is that a 60 min massage?! Was “upsold” a hot stone massage. Instantly regretted it. The stones were used in a manner where it was just digging into knots in my back. They were rough and scratchy, and I have scratches on my skin from them. I don’t know if the massage would have been better had I not allowed her to upsell me to a hot stone. But left there feeling like I was ripped off and more uncomfortable then when I got there. I feel bad Leaving this review because she was pleasant. But the massage was horrible. Worst I’ve ever had.

Was given a few gift cards for Christmas to this spa. One of the gift cards fell out of the packaging and the spa won’t tell me my gift card # to use, although they’ve said it clearly hasn’t been used yet. Also, I’ve gotta say.. it was an odd time at the spa. Telling you that there are alert buttons on the side of the beds? Also, was told my massage would mainly happen over the blanket. Once I was in the room, the masseuse was nice enough but she didn’t really give a massage… she lightly rubbed my legs for 5 minutes, stretched my arms once and didn’t rub them, and extremely lightly rubbed my back. She asked if the pressure was good and i already felt uncomfortable so I just said yes. I’ve had many massages and this whole situation start to end felt very awkward.
