As soon as I arrived I was seated right away for my appointment. Once they confirmed my chosen color, they started what I thought might be a long process due to previous visits to other places, but nope, I was in and out in 2 1/2 hours! This is the quickest appointment I've EVER experienced in my life! I was provided with a heater for comfort and offered snacks/water. The ladies were very professional and welcoming. I'll definitely be back because they DID THAT!👏🏾

I really like how I was seated as soon as I arrived and the braids look neat and everything but the braider used so much gel it is actually irritating my scalp. I’ve gotten my hair braided and plenty of shops before and no braided has ever used this much gel on my hair. I can literally squeeze my braids and probably slick someone’s hair with the amount of gel they used. Honestly my only complaint is the amount of gel. If they could use less gel I would have a 5 star experience.

I used to support this shop HEAVY, even with the inconsistent pricing at the time (I was once charged $320 for medium knotless braids with human hair, then $295 for the same style 2 months later… $30 for triangle braids, then 3 months later was charged $40). Ever since Shelly and Emma left, the quality of braids have gone down immensely. The braiding styles and techniques from the other braiders are inconsistent, even with the owner watching the lackluster work. I was previously ok with the price differences because the more experienced braiders had my hair looking great, but after my last style of the poor work and no resolution from the owner, I can no longer recommend this braiding shop. In this economy, feel to do as you wish with your money.

The braids were done well, but the middle part was crooked. I tried 4 times to get different styles even after the crooked one and whoever the person who responds to texts is so rude and off putting. Getting customers is easy, getting them to stay is another. Customer service is everything in a world where a million girlies braid. Lost my respect and future coins. No thanks!!!!! Edit: Then the owner or whoever texted my phone aggressively about my review, hence the bible she wrote in response. If you're on the fence, don't go. ❤️ The End.

This was my second time come here to get my braids done. I had two pleasant experiences so far. The only thing is I had to help my braided get my middle part straight. Other than that, I have had great experiences and will be coming back!

UPDATED REPLY: Like I said, the owner has responded by refusing the take ownership, making false claims, and dismissing my customer experience. Please take heed and prevent yourself from going through the same mental anguish and emotional turmoil as I have. Waste of money and a waste of time. I have an interview tomorrow and was treated so horribly after my negative experience here. Please do yourself the service of reading other 1 star reviews as I promise they are completely and totally accurate. Dilis has a habit of responding to these reviews to gaslight and discredit customers who have had negative experiences, but there are many of us who share the truth and over time that speaks volumes. Long story short, I asked for a french curl braid style with layers in the front and not only did it come out terribly, a braid has already come out on the SAME DAY I got it done. I’ve been getting braids for years and this has never ever happened. Mind you, she guaranteed, as did her braider, that they would be able to pull this style off no problem. Additionally, being treated unkindly at the end of my service and having braids sticking up and out everywhere are also among the experiences I had. No hot towel to smooth the braids down until I specifically asked, and even then the job was lackluster. I will reiterate that she said several times she was capable of doing a style that ultimately, she and her braider could not do. If she had at any point decided to be honest that she was not able to do this style well, I would have chosen something else and all of this could have been avoided. Misleading your customers that something will be done well and gaslighting them when it comes out extremely poorly is not good customer service practice. 🫣 When you call her out on this, she becomes defensive and uncooperative. Dilis refuses to process a refund, even a partial one, unless you take down ALL of your hair (LOL, which 1.) how does that make any sense? and 2.) I have an INTERVIEW tomorrow! no consideration whatsoever). She refuses to take any accountability for her dishonesty in saying she could do something she literally could not do, and refuses to take ANY ownership for negative customer experiences with her braiders. This is not an isolated experience. There are plenty of other reviews saying the exact same thing. Take the time and read them if you’re able to. In this New Year, I can only hope Dilis improves her customer service/transparency, professionalism, and honoring her word. Don’t let the instagram fool you. Good customer service matters just as much as great hair. I did not receive either of those things today. I left the salon feeling dejected and robbed. You are better off taking your time and money elsewhere. Again, please read other reviews which detail experiences very similar to mine. This is a pattern. Hopefully 2025 ends the cycle. 🎆 Happy New Year.

This is my second time using this shop and unfortunately I will not be returning due to the poor customer service. What is advertised and my expectation is that this is a luxury hair braiding experience. My first visit with my braider Emma was 10 stars. It was so good I was referring folks and telling them the price was worth it! Communication and questions about appointments are handled via text. I asked for small bomb twists bra length initially. Apparently, it was an issue to change the length of the twists. I was told in order to change the length required advanced notice because that impacts what type of braider is scheduled and when. That is complete bs. The only thing impacted would be the price. And clearly there was no follow up as I wanted to get an understanding on what the issue is. But if I wanted a shorter length shouldn’t the customer get what she wants (especially if she is paying for it?) In a customer-service driven industry, shouldn’t what the customer want take precedence especially if the change is inconsequential? Nonetheless I proceeded with the appt - was literally walking in. Not only did I get the coldest reception walking in but it was literally freezing inside. Like an icebox. I asked if the heater was on, the braider responded yes and asked if I was cold. She gave me a blanket and moved the space heater that was facing her to now face me. No one even offered me anything unlike my first experience. Also, the chair I sat on was tattered and looked like it seen better days. This was unlike my previous experience. But what was really insane to me was during my booking and in person I was never asked the color I wanted for my twists, whether I was okay with the length, the look of the twists so far etc … in fact, at the end, she just started sweeping and didn’t even hand me a mirror to see my hair. Didn’t even ask if I like my hair! I felt completely dismissed. Also, my parts look more schmedium rather than small and that was disheartening given the price. So for $350, I don’t think the quality of the twists and the lackluster service was worth it given the number of shops that are available.

I've had my hair braided by this salon several times in the past and each time the braids were satisfactory. I went to get shoulder length boho braids labor day weekend in September. About an hour into the service I had stop the braider because she had been installing box braids instead of boho braids. Well, within 3 to 4 days the braids starting sliding out, unraveling and looked a mess. I texted the owner to try and setup a time to get the braids fixed. We setup a time then I was contacted to reschedule due to an emergency. No problem, I said when can I come in? Another 2 to 3 days went by so I called, but had difficulty reaching the owner due to another emergency and at this point alot of misunderstandings in why I was being helped happened. I tried to be understanding and waited but I never got another call to fix the issue. With in a week after that I had no choice but to take the braids out and pay another salon for a new service. I'm disappointed by the service that is usually 4 stars. I hope that everyone is OK and that they come up with an easier process to service clients requests.

Just got knotless braids at Hair by Dilis and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve been looking for my go to braiding spot and I finally found it. The staff is so friendly and the work is top notch. My medium mid back knotless braids were done in the than 3 hours with one braider!! The braids weren’t to tight and they lay so flat. I’m so happy!!

Made a last minute appt online for medium knotless braids. When I arrived, the salon was closed and they advertise as a walk-in salon. I called the phone number with no answer. I texted with no answer. Highly disappointed since I had to drive 30 mine to get here.

My hair looks great and I get compliments consistently. I have even given people contact information to get their hair done as well. I got Senegalese twists. The booking was via text. Hair was provided (and there was a variety of colors to select). The process was done in a very reasonable amount of time. Snacks and water were offered. I would recommend.

Been going here for over a year, my daughter gets he braids done. Dilis is so friendly and they do nails there too. She expanded her location and is now in Columbia. I had a wonderful experience at this shop. My braider, Hilda, was attentive to what I wanted and worked diligently to make sure I got the results I was hoping for. She was also very gentle with her braiding. All of the ladies at the shop were friendly and offered snacks/beverages throughout my time there. Will definitely be making a trip back. I’ve had my hair braided often and this might be my favorite style so far!

On the second day of my hair style it look like I had the hair style a little longer than a day. My curls started to drop. My boho hair was coming out. I contacted the owner and she didn’t even respond. These braids are way too expensive for your hair to be falling out the day after you just got your hair done. PLEASE FIND some where else to go!

I don’t know if yall pre-soak the hair you use or if it’s just high quality or both but my head is not itching like crazy like it does when I’ve gotten braids by other stylists. I had luxury boho braids done. The human hair used is of poor quality. It tangles, sheds, and does not keep the original curl even after wetting, conditioning, etc. For the price the hair should be of much higher quality.

I would only advise spending your hard earned money ($300+) here if you’re okay with being dismissed, disregarded, and disrespected afterwards. The business owner completely lacks insight on customer service. She lacks the ability to respond maturely and professionally if a customer isn’t satisfied with their service. Customers should be able to politely voice a concern without being met with disrespect and refused service. On May 24th I came here for mid back knotless boho braids which were priced at $340. I wasn’t seen until an hour after my appointment time, but I didn’t complain about this. Upon sitting in the chair I told the braider I’m tender headed, and I don’t want the braids too tight. Whenever I communicate this with other braiders they use a lighter hand and I experience minimal discomfort throughout the appointment. This was not the case here. The braider was rather rough with my natural hair while blow drying and sectioning. There was absolutely no care and regard for minimizing breakage, tension, and tightness. During the process I communicated it felt too tight, I was told it was knotless it will go away within a day. I took some pain medicine and finished the appointment. I take accountability for not advocating for myself more during the appointment, but I thought after a night it should ease up. This did not happen, my head continued to pulsate for the next 48 hours, and I needed to take continuous pain medicine to sleep and go about my day semi normally. I politely brought these concerns to the owner of the shop on May 26th. I requested that the areas that were too tight be redone because I knew I would have to take them out soon for the health of my scalp. I received no response. On May 27 I followed up, and I received no response. On May 28th I followed up, and on May 29th I received an incredibly rude response. It is important I add that during this time the sides of my edges began producing tension bumps as well as the back of my head. My head was sore to the touch in the areas I removed the braids, in addition so much gel was used that my natural hair was stuck in the position of the gel. The response I received on May 29th ended with the words, “when you complained, believe me, nobody wants to do your hair anymore. Not even the braider who did it before.” These words were completely unnecessary, unprofessional and dismissive. I then asked for a partial refund if they were unable to accommodate a looser rebraid to the section I took out, I was met with refusal. Her texts made it seem like I was being a difficult client with unfair requests. She also mentioned she never received complaints about the braider being too tight, therefore how could it be too tight for me. I’ve dealt with many different hair and beauty professionals due to my job and this was by far my worst encounter in my entire life. I ended up taking the rest of my braids out a week later on May 31st and I immediately felt relief and my bumps have faded. The final look was beautiful, but I absolutely can not recommend this location if you care about the health of your real hair and scalp. EDIT in response to the owner: I’m very disappointed to see the owner is now fabricating information. I’ve attached a photo of the text messages she is referring to. After I was met with a text saying no one wants to do my hair because I complained, and after I was refused a partial refund…what was said is attached below. I could have brought this to social media, but have chosen not to. My boyfriend and friend chose to leave a review on their own after I shared my experience. Lastly, I did not respond to her final text after lots of back and forth because I realized going back to a shop that responded to me in this way would be a complete disservice to myself.

UPDATED REVIEW: Based on the owner's response, it is evident that she lacks professionalism. I have never in my life attempted to steal or run off with anyone's money, nor have I lied about any of the statements made in my original review and have attached receipts to support this. It is unfortunate that Dilis will fabricate lies instead of apologizing. During my appointment I tried my best to be understanding and attributed the discourse to miscommunication, however I was still met with disrespect and discourtesy regardless from Dilis. I highlighted that the braiders did a decent job, it’s not exactly what I wanted but I was willing to still pay them for the work they did. When I was told by Emma that I couldn’t use my bundles to braid my hair because it wouldn’t be enough, I agreed to use the hair they provide for the braids and add very small pieces of my curly bundles to some of the braids. My issue is with the money-hungry owner that was very defensive and disrespectful towards me before and after my appointment. Switching prices and attempting to get over on clients is not only wrong but highly unprofessional. Receipts are attached. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Dilis, the owner, was unpleasant to work with. I’m giving one star because the stylists (s/o to Emma) did a good job and were professional. I contacted Dilis via text to make an appointment and let her know I’ll be bringing my own human hair. When I get to the appointment, there’s misunderstanding on what the stylist are able to do vs what I want done. I wanted xtra small mid back knotless braids with very very light boho. They mention to me that the hair I brought is too long for mid back and they were not willing to cut it. They also complained that the hair was too soft for braiding. I was originally told $380 when I booked my appointment then when I got there was told I would have to pay an additional $150, which I agreed to pay. After my appointment, Dilis was now in the shop and quoted me for a different price again. I was told my new balance is $600 because the style is different and the length is long. I kept explaining to her that this was not the style I originally wanted but agreed to it for the sake of not going back & forth. I did not want it this long & asked for the hair to be cut which they declined to do. Moreover, the actual braids fell to my midback, while the curly boho pieces fell longer down my back but she insisted that I still have to pay for the length, which made absolutely no sense. Lastly, I wanted to make payment with my card but was told by Dilis that none of her accounts (Zelle, Apple Pay, etc.) are working due to scams/chargebacks. They have an ATM on site but the max withdrawal is $200. I had to make 3 separate withdrawals to be able to make payment. As I was making the last withdrawal, the ATM stops working. They instructed me to go to the bank for the remaining balance but then said I can pay the remaining via a square link, which I don’t understand why she couldn’t take my payment via the square link to begin with if that was an option. I was there from 6am-2:30pm. The entire ordeal was stressful and unpleasant. I will not be back as they care more about taking money from their clients than providing great service and a stress-free environment.

This is my third time here and it's always a good experience. I came in an got attended to immediately and I was out in less than 4hrs. Braider was fast and gentle and they atte des to everyone else in the salon, professionally and friendly. I love the African movies they always put for us to watch. I will always recommend this place
