They are not transparent with their fees up front. They quoted me a minimum that was inaccurate. Why would you not tell the customer the actual minimum before they schedule a cut!?!?! They have a clear internal pricing system, so no reason not to pass it on to the customer. I was quoted 60 or higher, but it is actually $92 or higher with that specific stylist. Esp. In these economic times. P.S. I never received the service but hear they are great studio. I’ve now had to dispute my cancellation charge because they are trying to charge me 50% higher than my originally quote!!! I tried to resolve the dispute amicably but they were more concerned with upholding a policy that is probably actually illegal!!!!

I was looking for a new hair stylist since mine moved (sad) and drove past this place one night. I said..."I must go here, I must find out who these people are" and I am so glad I did! Professional, fun, kind, unique, friendly, welcoming... everything I wanted. Gino cut my hair and did a fabulous job. He was so patient and continued to check in with me to make sure I was satisfied since it was our first time together. (you never forget your first time) I left feeling (11.5 inches) lighter, and totally glowing. I am going back next week for him to do my color! So grateful to find a group of talented stylists and also a space that is safe and queer friendly. We love an affirming experience!

So I visited this salon for a color treatment, and it would've been a wonderful experience but I when I met someone with orange hair (I didn't catch the person's name) and they did not smell good at all. It ruined my entire experience, and I don't think I'll be coming back unfortunately. I am very sensitive to smells and they did not keep good hygiene, it smelled like their clothes were dirty or they had body odor. I feel like it's very important for individuals working at a salon where other's are always in close proximity to have good hygiene, actually yes, you should definitely be on top of your hygiene. I hope this issue gets fixed. Maybe I will try again next year.

Gino is fantastic! 5/5 stars for him. The only reason I took a star off is because I called to reschedule my appointment and they use a remote receptionist service that doesn’t have all the info for the salon or stylists, so it took several calls to and from to get that sorted.

I've been going to Christine for years now. Not only is she and Ashley amazing, who have both done my hair, but her space is so inclusive. It feels like family when I go to grt my hair done. Highly recommend

A very fun and inclusive space. Gino was my hairdresser and did a phenomenal job, giving me exactly what I asked for! Price was higher than I would have liked for a new client appointment but not unreasonable compared to other salons, and the price decreases for any returning visits.

Hair by Christine saved me from myself. Saved my hair’s life. Kacy cuts my undercut every 3 weeks but recently brought my curls back to life in under an hour! So grateful for this place—a gift to the neighborhood! And their hair products are really great too.

First of all, Gino is seriously one of the missing wonders of the world. The magic worked on my sad, cat lady mane today will go down in history books. Secondly, the process and effort put in to ensuring you get exactly what you want is so comforting. The environment and energy is so warm and friendly, attention to detail is flawless, and truly is a place that will ensure you get the look you want. ❤️

I had the loveliest time! I know I got a kind of expensive hair cut as I got a cut and color but Kacy made me feel so comfortable and really took her time to listen to me and show me what was happening. She was so sweet and welcoming even offered a snack as my appointment was long from her own lunch. The whole time I felt comfortable and it was cool to know that they offer no talking appointments for those who just want to get what they want and nothing else (though I loved chatting the whole day away). Easily going to come back. Thank you Kacy!!!!!

They care about hair and you as a person. If you are like me and can be a bit anxious about your hair, this is the place to go if you want staff to meet you where you are at. I always feel great with my look when I go!

Ally is great! The pricing feels a touch on the higher end (though that might just be Somerville). Ultimately the strictness of the late policy (10 mins late, you get charged the entire cost of the cut), combined with the unpredictable timing of my job hours + commute sometimes causing me to miss appointments by minutes, made me cancel my future appointment and look elsewhere.

The atmosphere is so welcoming and Mackenzie is a genius! She has a way of really SEEING you and then helps you match your outsides to your insides. Been getting tons of compliments on the cut & color.

Caroline immediately figured out what i wanted and talked me into it, even if it took me a while to get there. I know nothing about hair and she's a confident stylist who knows exactly what she's doing. She quickly gained my trust and I will be going back.

Cautionary Note: Approach with care when transitioning from dark to light hair colors. I really had high hopes based on recommendations, but my experiences here have been disappointing. Despite showing reference pictures for silver hair, my visits last December, and this July, did not yield the desired results. It just caused more time and more money wasted. The first visit required a retone due to brassiness and copper undertones after 1 week, followed by an unexpected green tint that even purple shampoo couldn't really fix. In my second appointment, I expressed concerns about the persistent green tint, prompting my stylist to experiment with a new toner mix. To my dismay, after just two hair washes, my hair shifted towards golden/blonde rather than the intended silver. When I reached out to the stylist, she suggested reconsidering my color choice, citing the unpredictability of dark hair. This suggestion was puzzling, as I've had my hair dyed silver multiple times before, and it never washed out within a week. This was the first instance where such advice was given after the fact. Needless to say, I won't be back.

Great location, very cool aesthetic and all employees are so kind and fun to be around. I have been going to Caroline for a couple years now and cannot recommend her highly enough for fantasy hair colors and styling. The salon has great quality color service, and exceptional styling products for sale too!

I could not recommend this spot enough. Not only is the space inviting (all I did was glance in on my drive by and immediately decided), but the staff is equally as kind and welcoming. Maddie did my new client cut and she listened to me, gave her honest opinion when I asked for it, and absolutely crushed it with the results. Plus she gave me some great advice on how to style and what products to use based on my wants and needs. I rarely leave my haircuts feeling satisfied but finally after 5 years of searching, I found a spot I feel comfortable trusting fully. Environment, service, and results are 100% worth every penny. It is clear that everyone puts hard work and heart into their craft!

I love it here, the atmosphere is so welcoming and positive! And I always leave feeling so happy. I've had wonderful cuts from both Sam K and Taylor (they are both so awesome!). It is clear this salon prioritizes cleanliness (hair is always swept up, and everything looks freshly washed) and their client's comfort. The haircuts I've had here are around 65-80 (including long hair cut, wash, dry, and sometimes style)-- I find this to be a very reasonable price. Many of the salons nearby charge much more, and the service is not nearly as good. Overall, I highly recommend this place!

I would not recommend this place for curly hair. I called and asked for someone who could do curly hair and she did an okay job cutting it. However, when it came to washing it, she did not wash all of the soap and conditioner out of my hair and it was left soapy and greasy. She had someone else diffuse my hair and it looked extremely frizzy and greasy. I went back and told them I was unhappy and they did not try to do anything to rectify the situation. I paid $112 for the cut. Waste of money and time.

It is a beautiful studio and very very inclusive. I felt instantly welcomed when I stepped into the studio and at ease. my hair stylist Sam Vallery was wonderful, she talked me through how to take care and style my curls, recommended some products but never pushed me into getting items. She also gave me recommendations based on my busy lifestyle so I was very grateful for it and plan to come back.
