sure they’re talented at hair, but some of the most elitist people i’ve interacted with. i was ghosted by them when they found out i am a trans man. i’m a man who keeps my hair long and dyed fashion colors, i don’t trust the barber shops in town. additionally, they found every excuse to ghost my mother and not service her. i cannot think of any reason other than her being 62 and bigger. if you’re a young pretty thin woman im sure this would be a great fit

Ever since the original owner left, they will not answer the phone or return emails. No idea what's going on there.

I had a Saturday appt. Confirmed through email. I get to the salon day of and the salon is completely closed . No phone call or email to let me know . I called , left a voice mail, and an email and a text message to the Owner 2 weeks later still no phone call back to let me know what is going on . Extremely unprofessional.

I have been to Flies & Honey 3 times now and every time is an amazing experience. Lisa has been doing my hair and always listens to her clients and offers her expertise. She's so welcoming and always wants to make her clients comfortable. Even when I have questions or concerns, she's always so nice, explains everything, and just wants you to be happy with your hair. Can't say enough good things about the people who work at Flies & Honey and my hair that has come out perfect every time.

Lisa is incredible! I saw her after a devastatingly terrible haircut at another salon and she gained my trust and fixed me up immediately. I have seen her for cuts and for color. she is a great listener and as a result is very intentional with her craft. The salon is very cute, welcoming, and clean. It is in no way an exaggeration when i say i will not be getting my haircut by anyone else by her!!!

I’ve been going to Flies & Honey since 2016 and I adore every experience. Alli cuts and treats my hair, and always does an outstanding job. I have naturally wavy/curly, frizzy hair and have tried the great treatments they offer: Cezanne Smoothing made my hair feel lovely, and there was no wait time to wash afterwards - Cezanne is semi permanent so I just wish the results lasted longer. Liscio Straightening is permanent, and you do need to wait at least 2 days before washing afterwards. Liscio totally eliminated my frizz, and my hair still had body and could hold a curl. My round brush blowout used to take almost half an hour, and can take less than 10 mins with Liscio. Totally recommend! Bonus points for gender neutral pricing and being a green circle salon!

I came in today for a blowout with Lisa. I had an event to go to, and was unsure as to what hair style to go for. Lisa did a wonderful blowout with curls. I have long, thick hair, and the curls stayed in all night! Best blowout I’ve ever had. Will continue to come back!

After trying three salon's in Madison area, third time is a charm and I found the best right down the street! Exceptionally competent, friendly, smart and authentic. Best haircut experience I've had in over a decade! Alli is excellent, unpretentious and fun.

Poor customer service . They need to improve how they treat clients. When a stylist leaves .No communication. I was a loyal customer . They seem to pick and choose who they want to keep as customers. I guess in there eyes not every is equal . I was customer and so was my daughter we spent good money to go there . Its shame they are like this .

Since moving to Madison 3 years ago, this has been my go-to salon. The interior is very chic and the staff are so friendly. The stylists are truly skilled and I've gotten some of the best haircuts of my life here. Their pricing system is very fair (based on complexity of cut, hair length and etc) and I like that they do a $2 fee to donate to an environmental group.

The appointment process went well when I called. I got an an appointment at 4:15 the following week after I called. A few days before they called to confirm the 4:15 appointment. Everything went well until day of the appointment. The day of the appointment, I parked on Waverly and started walking down around 4:05. As I was walking, the salon called me and said that they were confirming that my appointment was at 4:00 and was wondering where I was. I said I would be there in one minute. I walked in and said “I’m sorry, I thought my appointment was at 4:15.” The women looked at the computer and said something along the lines of “oh yeah, I don’t know why I thought it was 4:00.” Didn’t even say sorry for the confusion of anything like that! Then it came time for the actual haircut. Keep in mind that I have thin long hair that goes from short to long all the way down. I got into the chair and the stylist asked what I wanted (didn’t remember her name). I told her that I just wanted what was dead trimmed off the bottom and then I want my hair to go from short to long in the front. I specifically told that her I didn’t want a face frame. She went, but that is a face frame. Then she asked if I wanted layers. I immediately said no. She said “Are you sure?” Like I should get them or something. I have thing hair and don’t need to remove bulk. I didn’t want to argue with her at all, so I just let her do her thing. She’s the expert, not me. So she did that and blow dried it for me and I instantly knew it wasn’t what I usually got. So I paid and left. When I got home, I tried to look up what I wanted in styling terms and I found that I just wanted her to slide cut my hair, which is literally “feathering” the hair starting from right below your chin to the ends of my hair. So now I have a face frame and poofy hair at the bottom, since it’s all one length now. Time to go to a salon and have it fixed. PLEASE listen to your clients when they tell you that they dint want a face frame and think of what other techniques I would be talking about. I personally did not go to cosmetology school, you did.

What an amazing experience! Julia is phenomenal, she created this fabulous cut and color and I couldn't be happier! She listened throughout the whole consultation and understood how important keeping the length was to me! I will be back for sure so Julia can work some more magic!

I have been going to the same hair salon for 40 plus years. My hairdresser no longer works on Wednesday (my day off) He is in Westfield so it's a bit of a trek. I decided to give this place a try. Close to home. I have strayed from my hairdresser before because of distance and always went back. Well, Alli did my highlights and did an amazing job, and then a cut, which was perfect. How happy am I to have finally found a salon that I love right in my own back yard!!

Love this place! Scheduling an appointment was super easy. As soon as i got there i was offered something to drink and my appointment started on time. Alli (my stylist) was very friendly and knew what she was doing. The place is also very clean and nicely decorated. Def. coming back!

Well, I never had a hair cut here but I have met the owner and the other workers and they were super cool. My favorite thing about the place is the artwork. I realize that this may not be helpful if you are looking for a hair cut but at least you know you will have cool people cutting your hair with cool art to look at while you get your hair done.

After years of traveling into the city for overpriced cuts, I am very happy with my first cut at Flies and Honey. Olga took time to speak to me about what I wanted, and gave me an excellent cut. My hair is short, and fine, so a bad cut is really obvious. I waited to write this review until the cut is >1 month old to see how it would hold up (the true test of a great cut). I am ready to reschedule, and still getting compliments! Highly recommend.
