I had a really great cut from Erin today! She has cut my hair for 5+ years and I’m so glad she’s joined the team at this awesome salon. Everyone was friendly and the place is pleasant. Erin has worked with me all through growing out my hair, bobs, and to this JTT situation we have going on these days. She’s got skills with shorter length cuts, and Erin is a good person to chat with. Thanks Evie and Erin!

I originally reviewed this salon years ago, but I wanted to provide an update. Initially, I used to go to the owner, Yvonne, and everything about her service was impeccable. However, when Yvonne was no longer available, I started getting services from Ryan, who was equally amazing. Recently, I decided to get a last-minute haircut and Wally was the only stylist available. I have absolutely no regrets! It was one of the best haircuts and stylings I've ever had. This consistent excellence in service from the owner sets a high standard, so I'm not surprised that her staff are also exceptional. Although I'm not a frequent client, visiting the salon only once or twice a year, I am quite particular and not easily pleased. However, every time I visit Evie, I leave happy. The only downside to my last visit was that they perhaps cut a little more than I had asked for, I like very long hair on myself. While I didn't love the fact a lto of my hair was cut, the quality and final look were SO good that I decided to overlook it. Reality. I'm confident that my hair will grow out beautifully thanks to Wally. He also took his time ....same with Ryan and Yvonne. They don't rush the service, they take their time and are very focused in what they are doing. For the record, I do not receive color services; I visit for styling, great products, and cuts. My hair is thick and wavy due to my Venezuelan background and European heritage. Typically, when I get a blow dry or cut at another salon in the US, it's done incorrectly, leaving my hair dull or the blow dry barely lasting a night before becoming frizzy. The only place where I am consistently happy with the results is Evie. I have been a customer since they opened ten years ago, and I have never been disappointed.

Evie salon is top tier. I’ve been going here for 4ish years now, and every stylist I’ve ever had has taken the time to get to know me as a client and understand my hair goals. Antonina is absolutely amazing and I always leave the salon feeling 10/10. Super clean facility with great people. Could not recommend more.

I love it here! It was my first time here since moving to Somerville and everyone who works here was so nice. Harjot gave me an amazing haircut and the best blowout I’ve ever gotten. Highly recommend!!!

Love Evie! As a curly haired person, finding somewhere that gets how to cut curls is a struggle. Evie staff member in general have a high general knowledge of curly hair and Yvonne (the owner) has curls herself ❤️

I booked a hairstyling for my wedding and they cancelled last minute. First they claimed that I never made an appointment and after asking more questions they suddenly remembered that I made an appointment but that they had a double booking. They were unfriendly and made inappropriate comments about my foreign accent. I would not recommend them.

I'm new to the Boston area and came here because the reviews were very positive and all the stylists listed on the website seemed to have a fair amount of experience so I figured that any of them should do a good job. When I showed up, the manager explained that the stylist who would be working on my hair didn't speak much English, but that she (the manager) would translate for me and check in on me regularly. I figured that was fine. Unfortunately it was clear that the stylist was not the most experienced - she seemed very hesitant and used techniques like thinning my hair while it was wet, which I never let stylists do because it makes my hair is extremely frizzy. The larger problem was that the manager didn't check in at all - she checked on me once when the stylist had just taken the first few snips. Then she announced that she was off the clock, and sat down in a chair while another stylist started coloring her hair. She looked over and said "looks good" to me once, but never once asked me how things were going. The whole experience was extremely uncomfortable - the stylist was clearly struggling with my hair texture and thickness, the manager was unavailable so we couldn't communicate with each other. At the end of the cut, the stylist was trying to ask me about something but we couldn't communicate and the manager had, at that point, gone into the back room to have her eyebrows dyed. She brought the manager out but it was clear that she didn't want to be bothered. In the end, I said it was fine and left because I just wanted to get out. My hair looked fine while styled, but in its natural (slightly wavy) texture, it's a hot mess. It's frizzy and all the layers she cut look uneven. I also noticed that none of the stylists there were on the website, so it seems like their online info is pretty outdated. The salon looked nice and they use great products but I'm going to have to go somewhere else to have my hair fixed. I would only go here if you know exactly who will be doing your hair, I just don't think they give their newer stylists the supervision and support that they need.

Not for curly hair. For certain reasons, after researching this salon I decided to get a curly cut here. They advertised specifically a Curly cut on their menu. It is Not a curly cut. They cut it wet. I have fine 3A/3B hair and have been getting curly cuts for years. I arrived to my appt with freshly washed and styled hair (as per usual for a curly cut). After a late (30min) start, I discussed and showed pictures of the desired cut with my stylist she directed the assistant to take me to the wash bowl. I interrupted and confirmed that this was a curly cut. She said it was because they “needed to get the product off” of my hair. Never heard that in a curly cut. Once again we discussed the hair cut & I (now regretfully) agreed. After the wash, my stylist had another stylist start my hair cut due to she was running behind with the previous client. It didn’t seem like they communicated b/c the new stylist kept asking me how much I wanted off and I kept saying I cant tell you when its wet, as my hair will shrink about 2-3in when dry, thats why I get it cut dry. Finally the original stylist took over looking perplexed as to what the other stylist cut. She made the statement “your hair is really different wet that dry” i replied “yes, I know, thats why I get a dry curly cut”. I had originally described that I wanted layers around my face and I didn’t want to look outright like a triangle or circle. And I ended up looking like a triangle with my hair the longest around my face with no layers. My hair ended up drying much shorter than I originally described. She did not offer me the choice of sitting under the dryer vs air drying to finish. She just said ok I done and that was it, I walked out with wet hair. Now Ended up having to contend with curly hair that is cut uneven and not cut to my curl pattern. I also had to book another appt (elsewhere) to correct the cut. The studio is clean and the staff is nice. But just not a place of curly hair folks.

The hairdresser added less than 10 lowlights to my hair and then gave me a dark brown toner. The results of my hair did not look anything like the photos I showed. She charged me close to $300 which I thought was too much as all I got done was less than 10 lowlights, a trim, and a toner. When I called back a few days later to inquire about the cost, they told me that salons charge differently by state. I thought the response was unprofessional and did not provide really any information on why I was charged so much. My appointment occurred late 2021 but I wanted to add a review to show others of my experience.

Abby is amazing!!! She is talented and wonderful at what she does. I’ve always gone to family to do my hair because it was what I was comfortable with. She makes you feel comfortable in the chair and confident when you walk out. I feel like I’ve known her for years. I ask for balayage and love how flawless it looks. The salon is also such a beautiful space. I’m glad I found Abby and look forward to seeing her every time.

Abby is the best! I moved here about two years ago and was struggling to find someone I could trust to do my hair. I finally found Abby! Guys, she is the hair whisperer. She deals with my indecisiveness and puts up with me coming to her chair not knowing what I want! Yet, my hair turns out amazing every. single. time. If you’re looking for someone new, I HIGHLY recommend Abby! 😊

Alright, this may seem like an exaggeration but Evie Salon and Sandra 100% saved my sanity and self image. I made a terrible decision to get my hair colored (from brown to blonde balayage) internationally. Don’t know what I was thinking, but it came out yellow with zero blending & dimension. It looked like I had yellow hair and was wearing a little brown bowl hat on the top of my head. I cannot stress how awful it was. On top of that, I had a work event a day after I landed from my international trip. Evie took me in, asked for photos & prepped. Sandra my savior (as I now refer to her) took me into her chair and performed magic. I don’t know how else to describe it. My hair looks amazing. I feel so much better about myself. She taught me so many hair care maintenance things throughout the process, too. I can’t recommend Sandra or Evie Salon more than telling you DON’T GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!!

As a blonde, it is nerve wracking looking for a new stylist when you move to a new place. I am so thankful that I found Abby just over a year ago now - she is by far the best stylist (especially for us blondes!) I have been to in Boston. Highly recommend her for her expertise but also for her authenticity when you sit in her chair. Can't wait to be back in the studio in a few weeks!

Edit 11/4/20: I had a second haircut here this time with Yvonne, the owner. Just as amazing as my first haircut at this salon. She was super helpful and insightful about my 2a/2b wavy hair. I won’t go anywhere else! Highly recommend. Had my first haircut at Evie with Gabby, she was so great! She spent so much time addressing everything I wanted and was very detailed about the cut and style. Definitely recommend!

Gabby is a blonde specialist! Her foil technique is flawless, I go back and forth between dimensional and light blonde full foils. I also love that she makes it look so natural, people are shocked when i tell them I'm a brunette even when i clearly have a shadow root!

Gabby is your go to stylist. She is always willing to work with me on my craziest ideas and turn them into beautiful hairstyles. She is so funny and lovely to talk to! I couldn’t imagine letting anyone else do my hair. She has made me so happy getting my hair done. I have followed her new salon, Evie and would never consider looking back! Because of my busy schedule, I am not able to go to her a lot. She is so accommodating and colors my hair so it will last until I can come see her next! I love Gabby and her new salon is so comfortable. I could spend hours there! Thank you always!!!

Had a great experience at Evie Salon. A coworker recommended it to me and though I was originally booked with Sandra (her rec'd stylist), they were able to squeeze me in with the owner, Yvonne who was most experienced in the type of cut I was looking for. I had a short bob that I was looking to change into a kind of pixie cut with a side shave. Yvonne was extremely attentive and referred to the picture I had brought multiple times (a first for me, most stylists in the past comment some nicety about the picture I bring them and never refer to it again or give me a remotely similar hair cut). She worked on my hair for well over an hour and gave me a well textured cut that I'm extremely happy with. She also asked what I usually do to style (answer: not much) and advised what I might need to do with this new, dramatically different style. She also had helpful suggestions and questions on the overall shape throughout. I also liked that she wasn't afraid to disagree or discuss if I had a suggestion that didn't make sense from her perspective. Note: They have a small lot for parking and let me know that even if it's full they'll figure out a way to squeeze you in so you don't have to deal with street parking which is awesome. Looking forward to future cuts here!!

I love coming here - every experience I've had has been amazing. If you are looking for balayage, highlights, full color (anything really), Abby is the BEST colorist! She's so considerate, expert, and wonderful to talk to. Honestly, just book an appointment now.

I’ve been going to Evie for a few years now, seeing Arielle for cuts and Abby for color. Both are so talented and wonderful to be around! I have very thick hair, and Arielle gives me the best haircuts I’ve ever had. She is great at executing your vision for your hair while also understanding how to cut it in a way that’s flattering for you. Abby is truly an artist with color! I get balayage highlights and she does it beautifully every time and it grows out so well. The environment at Evie is modern and fun, and I've always felt comfortable and welcomed by everyone there. I’m leaving the area and am SO bummed to have to find a new salon - I will really miss Evie!

Made an appointment on the phone and my work meeting ran over so I was not able to make it to the appointment. Was still charged for the haircut, when I tried to explain my situation I was told that it was policy and I should have read the website. Even though I made the appointment on the phone and never looked at the website. I think this is is very unprofessional, I should have at least been told about this policy when the appointment was made. I will not be using this salon and will not recommend a place which such sneaky behaviors to my friends&family
