Erica is a talented stylist, but as a business owner, she’s absolutely dropped the ball on transparency and communication. I’ve had multiple issues with her lack of professionalism, and it’s clear she’s more focused on the bottom line than customer care. Let’s start with StyleSeat, the app she uses. Apparently, Erica believes she has no control over StyleSeat’s fees, but let me tell you, that excuse doesn’t fly when it comes to customer service and professional courtesy. When I missed my first appointment, Erica insisted I “definitely got reminders sent to my phone and email.” After doing a little digging, I found out that the email reminder had gone straight to SPAM and my SMS notifications weren’t on because I didn’t have the app downloaded to access it. As a new client at that time, do you think Erica oriented me to the way she does things so I can be on-top of things? No! She never told me I needed to download the app until after I missed an appointment. Of course, she still tried to charge me a cancellation fee. Fair enough, I’d accept the fee, but I needed a resolution on how to avoid this in the future. Her solution? I needed to download the app and opt-in for notifications. Lovely. The app didn’t work right, and when I raised concerns, she blamed it on StyleSeat and suggested I had “two different accounts,” using the same email which anyone with half a brain knows isn’t possible. But no worries—she assured me I could bypass StyleSeat altogether if I wanted to book manually with her. Great, problem solved, right? Fast forward to this month, and Erica completely backpedals. She suddenly insists I must book through StyleSeat again, despite the fact that we had an entire conversation about how I didn’t want to use it anymore because it’s obvious the account wasn’t linked. Apparently, all the back-and-forth was just me being “difficult,” and she wasn’t “begging” me to stay. Lovely customer service. I reached out this month for an appointment and she went back on her word and told me to book an appointment on Style Seat. I told her about our previous agreement and she still wanted to go back and forth. I stopped responding actively looking for a new stylist and she then came to her senses and offered me appointment days and times pressing me to “hurry up and book the Saturday appointment”. Now I see why she did that. She booked the Saturday appointment without letting me know that her prices had magically gone up by $65. On top of that, she didn’t bother to mention that early Saturday appointments are considered “popular” by StyleSeat, which means an extra $30 charge. Surprise! I found all of this out at the end of my appointment, and while I paid it without fuss to avoid drama, I’m not happy about being kept in the dark. My real issue isn’t with the price increase—Erica’s work is worth the money—but with the fact that I wasn’t told about these changes in advance. She’s a business owner, and she should’ve sent out an email or a message informing her clients of the price hikes. Instead, she blamed StyleSeat, which seems like a convenient excuse to avoid taking responsibility. It’s clear that Erica is more concerned about her bottom line than actually fostering trust with her clients. Long story short: she’s ruined the trust we had. Her inability to communicate pricing changes and her reliance on an app that capitalizes off her clients’ loyalty has made it clear I need to find another stylist.

When I met Ericca she was in middle of servicing a client. She was so gracious to take a few minutes to allow me to book an appointment. Scheduled for 2 days later. Ericca was phenomenal. Her suite is clean and bright. Ericca made me felt welcomed, she was personable and informative. I did a big chop! I showed her my inspiration photo and she executed it flawlessly. I am in love with the results and highly recommendation booking with her.

I was looking for a hairstylist in the area and I came across Erica’s page on the Salontra Columbia website. I am sooo happy I chose to have a consultation with her because she is incredibly knowledgeable and so kind. My hair had been through so much postpartum and I wasn’t sure what could be done with it. She had a thorough and clearconsultation with me (she took notes!) and she gave me a plan of action. It was clear that she was listening to my wants and that she was taking into account my lifestyle and personal hair managing abilities. I came in wanting a natural hairstyle, but I didn’t really have much in mind. I left with a beautiful tapered haircut that I love. She was on time and waiting for me to arrive. She stuck to her scheduled time as well. Her salon is beautiful and so organized. She shares the products that she uses without making you feel forced to buy anything. The best part was the fun conversation and relaxing vibes. Oh, and watching some Sex in the City, too.

Back in 2012 I was recommended to have Ericca do my hair by another stylist. At the time I was transitioning to Natural. She told me exactly what my hair needed. I appreciated her professionalism. I have been a client ever since. I have had everything from cuts to blowouts to color, twist, most styles are 2 in 1… I can rock twist, then twist out after a while. and I am Always complimented on my natural styles and color. I never have to wait. There is never a line. She knows how to schedule to the tee. Ericca is a true professional. Thank You Ericca!!

Ericca has been doing my hair for 5 years. I had a color mishap with another stylist. Ericca really helped my hair to grow back as I had to cut it down. I love my natural look and she maintains my blonde color. She has a fabulous personality and she cares about her clients. She very professional and timely. You do not have to worry about sitting in the salon all day and night. She has really helped my hair grow.

I have been going to Eden Roots since 2010. I love how Ericca does my hair. I’ve tried other stylist far and near, however none gives me the satisfaction I get when my style is complete. I also love the “in and out service” I receive when I book my service. Ericca is strict with her time. You will never come to your appointment and there’s a line ahead of you. You might come early and wait, but not because of her. She also gives you a heads up if she’s running late due to traffic. I have been to other stylist where they did not give me the courtesy to say “hey, I am running late, sorry for the inconvenience.” If I’m not in Ericca’s chair, that’s because I am rocking my braids. I have been going to Ericca since 2007, and I have entrusted her with my hair care journey with no regrets! She has transitioned my hair from being processed to natural, and she has made the journey pleasant and very informative. Ericca is knowledgeable and is passionate about hair care! She not only makes sure you hair looks nice, but it is healthy too. Ericca has an understanding that her client’s time is just as precious as hers, so you will not have long wait times because she does not overbook while making sure each client gets that same attention and care in their respective allotted time. I've been going to Ericca for many years and have always been happy with her work. I wear my hair natural and am always amazed at how wonderful my wash n go looks. If you are looking for someone who knows hair whether you are natural or not definitely try her out you will not be disappointed with your decision.
