Was in town for a wedding and didn’t have time to do my own hair, eyebrows or makeup. I made an appointment ahead of time and I suggest you do because when I got there they were super busy. The girl I was paired with was super nice and enthusiastic to work with me which made me feel welcomed. She spent 10 minutes on my eyebrows with the wax and then with the tweezers to make them look perfect. She then spent a huge chunk of time curling my hair and kept calling me Repunzel because my hair was so long. I told her I wasn’t sure what I wanted and she suggested curling my hair and I said sure. I didn’t really specify what kind of curls I wanted and she did super tight curls. I actually really liked it because my go to style is straight hair so it was different. She also did my makeup and actually matched my skin color really well. I suggest that the company should provide better make up for the girls since almost everuthing was totally out including mascara, lashes, and blush. If I lived in Grand Rapids I would definitely come back.

Besides the super long wait, we loved the atmosphere and stylist. My 12 year old daughter LOVED her haircut and blow dry! For that price, I would wait that long again. Highly recommend

I got a facial and an eyebrow wax done and they did a great job! My only suggestion is that they change the music to something less distracting, perhaps classical music. I was having a hard time trying to relax with the current song selections.

Sky Williams gave me a fresh new style and ensured my comfort every step of the way. Her consult was thorough, especially since I was making a change that involved a much shorter cut than I had in the recent past. Beautiful blonde highlights and a shoulder length cut turned more than a few heads the next day resulting in so many complements. This is where art, science and style converge; here's to Sky for making it happen!

Amazing experience. I have allergies and she was t sure if it was safe for me so she consulted a manager. The fact that she did that showed me she cared about my skin and wants to make sure it stays healthy. I appreciate the time she took to understand and listen to me.

I came in for a cut and gloss. I’ve been here before but haven’t been in a while because it takes a lot longer than going to a salon. The cut is fine, but I left feeling like my hair had gel in it and hadn’t been washed in a week (I came in with relatively clean hair, maybe on day 3). It was so heavy and greasy looking and the blow dry did not look good either. I know they’re students and it’s not going to be perfect, but the instructor didn’t even say anything when she ran her hands through my hair. It felt pretty obvious to me that it did not look or feel good. I didn’t want to make the girl feel bad so I called when I got home and said I wasn’t happy. They told me they’d fix it and to come in at 3:30, which I did, then they sat me in the lobby for 20 minutes only for them to tell me they need to reschedule for next week. I asked for a refund because I’m leaving town for 2 weeks and I would rather just have my money back, and they said no and instead gave me a 25% off & free thermal style coupon, which is no where near what I paid. I spent $42 which I know isn’t a lot but it was also 3 hours of my day just for me to have to go home and wash and style my own hair, which also will make the gloss that I spent money on fade faster. 2 stars because I’ve had decent experiences here but this series of events was so bad I don’t plan on coming back.

Normally I dont have problems at this salon but this morning was different. I had a trim done (by the same young lady as the last time). I told her at the beginning I had comments about my hair length was crooked from her last haircut. This morning after the cut and blow dry, the hair length appears longer on one side. (She never checked the length by pulling down the hair as other stylists do). I mentioned the length difference to her and she said it wasn't shorter on one side. I turned to her neighboring stylist and she said it probably looked shorter because it was slightly curled. When I got home, my husband mentioned it was not even. Isn't the supervisor suppose to check the final product? (this young lady never called her up). Nor was she personable. I find it hard to believe she will make it in a customer oriented business with her chip on her shoulder. I wanted to approach the manager but had another appointment so I didn't have the time to discuss it. I suggest that Aveda have comment cards for customers so that concerns, or praise, can be addressed immediately. Also, like any other salon, the students should hand you a mirror so that you can see the back of the hair. I asked for a mirror to check out the back (which was fine), but she had to ask another stylist for one and came across like it was a big imposition that I put her through.

So I got there and I had a stylus, in my head I was a bit nervous about the ethic difference in our hair types I wasn’t sure if she going to be able to cut and style my hair…BOY WAS I WRONG!! IT WAS THE BEST EXPERIENCE EVEN IN THE 15 years I have been going to get my hair done !!!!! ☺️☺️ I’m sad I can’t have her again, as she is graduating.

The admissions team has yet to reach out to me. I left a different review explaining my negative experience. They commented on the review telling me to call a certain number. I did and I left a voice mail more than once and they never reached out to me. Im sure its a great place to get services done but think twice if you are thinking about going to school here.

Davyn was wonderful with the facial and her instructor was passionate about her job, wonderful experience. However, the "spa music" they play is too loud. Flutes were like fingers on a chalkboard. Matthew Hawtin or any of the other ambient music artists would be so much better. It truly makes the spa seem outdated. At the front desk the gentleman there put every single person at ease and in a good mood. Kudos team, not let's ask corporate to re-thnk the soundtrack. By the way, my friend said the same darn thing when we got into the car about the music.

Hair services are fine for learning students but the wash sinks and chairs are the worst. the chairs kill your lower back and the sinks leave my head sore for the next day or two. most clients are visibly uncomfortable waiting at the sinks

I had a great cut from Jaz. The only reason this isn't 5 stars is that somehow I got lost in the shuffle after checking in. I did have to wait longer than I should. It seems my stylist was not informed of my presence. But thankfully, I wasn't on a schedule.

It's been about 3 weeks but I wanted to say Kerry May (Carrie May?) did a phenomenal job on my hair. She gave me exactly what I asked for and I'm very happy with it. I hope she goes on to have a successful career!

while I was getting my hair done the other day, one of the bosses there (Jordan on her nametag) didn’t greet me when she checked the hair cut for the stylist, and was very rude. Felt unprofessional to me. My haircut looked nice afterwards, results looked nice.
