Pleasantly Surprised!! This place is a hidden gem for sure. I walked in and was serviced immediately. The stylists were very kind and patient. They really took time on my hair and cared about what I wanted. I felt like I was back in DR with the girls. I’ll be going back OFTEN. Thank you

I have gone to Berenice for a relaxer and to color my hair. I go every 8 to 10 weeks. No matter where I live, I will always go to her salon. She does amazing work. She is always very patient and does well as relaxing hair without causing damaging. My hair is thriving because of her and retaining length. She clarifies the scalp and deep conditions very well. I got a few highlights last time I went and they are still looking very good. She doesn't make set appointments but if you call ahead she will let you know if and when to come in. I never have a long wait. If I walk in and see she is super busy I go another day. If you want great service and to grow beautiful hair, go to Berenice. My hair will definitely be waist length again if I keep going to her.

If you have coily, kinky, long and/or thick hair this is not the salon for you. I have a large head of naturally curly hair and now my curl pattern has changed from 1 trip to this salon. I have had my hair blow dried straight by the owner (Berenice) before in 2016 with no problems but I might have just gotten her on a bad day/ bad week. I tried over 1 week to create an appointment with the salon to discuss things in advance but no luck. I finally was in contact and was told to walk in. I received a wash & blow dry but she used extremely high heat and an old round brush (full of hair) in large sections with my hair to straighten it. I felt like she was rushing to try to finish my hair which caused her to use large sections & high heat to blow dry my hair “quicker”. This technique caused a lot of breakage and single strand knots in my hair while i wore it straight for 10 days. When I finally went to wash my hair, I found that my curls didn’t return and now I have very wavy hair. I went to a natural hair stylist who said I received a lot of heat damage from that experience and will need to build back my curls. I am no longer upset, with the experience from this salon, I just want to worn any other curly girl who might be interested in getting their hair styled here. P.S. - If you have relaxed hair, Berenice does a REALLY NICE roller set. If my hair was still relaxed, I would get this service completed at this salon. P.S.S. - I did have a positive experience with this salon back in 2016, but I don’t plan on going back here in the future with my naturally curly hair. (The pictures below are of my wet hair after its 2nd wash after being heat styled at this salon)

They kept me under the hair drier for over an hour. My neck and ears almost fried off. It’s like they didn’t want to deal with me as a client. I felt thrown away and unimportant in here.

SHE DOESN’T TAKE APPOINTMENTS!!!!! Arrived at 11:45A ~ left at 2:15P because I was still WAITING to be seen. She works very slowly and only has one other person assisting her. She needs to hire a wash girl, roller girl, etc. Things would be better if she took appointments but every time I called and asked for one she said “No appointments.” I’m sure she does great work but she’s just very unorganized!!

There is no better place to get your hair done. She takes the time you need for a good style, she’s honest and will say what does not work with your hair.
