I had the pleasure of my appointment today with Wayne, and it was an exceptional experience. The treatment truly felt like a spa day, with the added luxury of a relaxing massage chair. Wayne’s approach to educating me on proper hair care was both informative and thoughtful. In the past, I’ve had stylists who didn't give my hair the attention it deserved, but with Wayne, it’s clear she is passionate about her craft. The investment in this service was absolutely worth it. My hair has never felt softer or healthier. I’m thrilled with my experience at Divalicious Salon and have found my forever salon home.

I have never written a review for any business, however, I felt I had to leave one to describe the absolute stellar service I received today! For context, its been about 2 years since I sat in anyone's chair, so I was extremely nervous for this appointment (I booked a blow dry and trim). Firstly, I really appreciated the text notifications reminding you of your appointment time and any delays, she even sent an automated message alerting me to when I can come on up to her suite (sweet!). Secondly, I have never had a stylist turn me around to face the mirror as they were working so that I can not only see what they are doing, but also learn how to care for my hair. I told Wayne about my struggles and frustrations with my hair and how I would like to start caring for it and retaining length. She showed me at length how to section, detangle, and keep the hair elongated throughout my wash day so that I am not fighting an uphill battle. Thirdly, I have never had a stylist show me how to part my hair, nor did I previously think it made a difference but when I saw how she was BREEZING through my hair... man. She did in like 2 minutes what would have taken me an HOUR MINIMUM. I was blown away. SERIOUSLY. She even showed me how to blow dry my hair AND how to twist my hair to avoid tangling at the roots (one of the concerns I shared with her). She even helped me put my coat on and everything! (thank you!) Safe to say I WILL be booking again. If you're debating booking with her, do it! (Be sure to read the pre-appointment instructions on her page, trust me its not a lot!)

I initially had reservations about booking because the pricing was higher than what I was used to, and full payment is required before the service is rendered. Despite my hesitations, I decided to take the leap and book. I’d already spent money on other stylists who either played in my hair or couldn’t provide the full hair care service I desired, so I figured I might as well invest in someone with a quality website and great reviews. And I’m so glad I did—it was the best decision! Wayne is incredibly down-to-earth, professional, and funny, which instantly put me at ease. She’s extremely knowledgeable about hair care, and her quality of service is top-notch. The location is great, with a good atmosphere. She has a private room and provides a relaxing, luxurious experience—including a thorough shampoo and conditioning in a massage chair where I could just sit back and relax. My hair looks amazing every time! She’s very detailed and precise when it comes to styling. It’s truly top-tier and well worth the price. 🤌🏾 After meeting her, I completely understand why her business is set up the way it is—it’s designed to protect her time and energy, and honestly, it works. I highly recommend her services. The price is absolutely worth it for the level of expertise, care, and results you’ll receive. I’m super thankful I found this gem of a salon!

I made an appointment with Wayne and what I appreciated most was how quickly she replies, her professionalism and customer service. I scheduled a trim and didn't understand the instructions on detangling my hair prior and while it set back our appointment a bit she took it in stride. My trim took no time at all, she's very efficient. Her product suggestions were also very helpful. I plan to return.

Made an appointment with Wayne at Divalicious for a trim for my teeny weeny Afro. I didn’t understand the instructions about detangling so I arrived with product in my hair. My fault and being an owner of a business myself understood her frustration. That said she took it in stride washed my hair, cut and styled it. I was pleased. She has such great attitude and personality. Gave great advice too. I plan to return.

When I first sat down, Wayne looked at my 4C hair, laughed, and then jokingly prayed for both of us as we embarked on this blow-dry and trim appointment. What I initially thought was a friendly(ish) joke turned out to be something more troubling. She made me feel like my hair texture was a problem and an inconvenience. Admittedly, my hair was not detangled to salon standards. I had seen her notice about detangling on her website (but missed the barrage of fine print in her reminder email) and did what I thought was a decent job. However, given that this is a paid service, I expect to come to a salon where the stylist is willing to help in areas where I’m not licensed or trained. There’s quite a bit of onus placed on the client. While she is indeed knowledgeable, her interactions with me felt condescending and mean-spirited. She complained for most of the time she was working on my hair, which made me feel small. This isn’t my first time going to a salon that specializes in natural hair care. Glaringly, this has not been my experience elsewhere, so I know I deserve better. I deserve to feel like more than an inconvenient transaction. Having one’s hair done is such an intimate experience—you can feel someone’s emotions as they work on your hair. What I felt was anger and annoyance. I didn’t feel seen or valued. As Black women, we go to the salon for more than just hair health; we go to feel cared for, beautiful, and hopeful. I felt none of those things here. This appointment reeked of colorism, internalized racism, and the legacies of colonialism. Wayne did complete the service (thus two stars instead of one). After enduring her sour attitude for some time, I told her she didn’t have to do my hair if she didn’t want to. She chose to proceed. I do believe the manner in which my hair was trimmed expressed bias and a lack of consideration for the shape of my afro and the texture of my hair. I believe Wayne and Divalicious Salon have significant room to grow in terms of kindness, demeanor, and individualized service. If you’re looking for a salon that celebrates all hair textures, prioritizes the client’s needs, and makes you feel welcome, this is not the place for you.

Just left my appointment with Divalicious Salon and wow. First of all I'm sad that I didn't know about this salon for the last 3 years I lived over here. Second of all, the service is unmatched. My shampoo and blow out were handled with professionalism and expertise. I was recommended products, plus she does it all! I'll be coming here regularly!

I had an incredible visit at Divalicious Salon today and I can't stop raving about it! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality. The shampoo and hydration treatment were luxurious and left my hair feeling so soft and nourished. To top it off, the shampoo chair is a massage chair! Talk about the ultimate relaxation experience, pretty sure I snored a couple of times. The trim was done with such care and precision, and the silk press was absolutely flawless - my hair hasn't looked and felt this good in a long time. Wayne was professional, and friendly, and made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole appointment. I left feeling like a million bucks, this was my first but not my last visit. Wayne truly knows how to make her clients feel special and well-cared for. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for top-notch luxurious service and expertise!

Great service! I take my 12 year old daughter here and she is always happy. Wayne is pleasant, nice, and always accommodating. The environment is relaxing and remote work friendly. I also appreciate the extra care given to the shampoo service. A+ service!

I have been a customer for over 5 years and Wayne has always taken great care of my natural (thick) curly hair. A lot of salons advertise “natural hair care” but I can vouch that Wayne truly cares about the HEALTH of the hair. Throughout the years she has helped my hair maintain length and kept my hair healthy with minimum to no heat damage. She is always punctual and consistent with her work. I feel that she truly does care about my hair as much as I do ( if not a little more). I think her prices are fair for the quality of work. I would 100% recommend her.

I was really looking forward to getting a silk press with Wayne. Booked a same day after hours appointment slot that was available online, read the entire policy about extra $25 per hour for after hour appointments too. I’m currently in crutches due to a ruptured Achilles so getting up here was a task. Arrived on time and sat right outside suite 20 but unfortunately no one was here. I attempted to call the main 202 number twice but no one answered. It sucks. Wish there was some communication if she wasn’t available. The reviews/work looked great but I can’t trust I’ll have a guaranteed seat 😅

This review is several months overdue but I have to say the service I was provided was top tier. Ms. Wayne gentle on my scalp and didn’t rush with it; taking great care with my hair and making small talk with me. I’m also not very knowledgeable about how to take care of my hair, and she told me some tips on how to style it and switch it up from my regular high puff. My actual appointment was a silk press and trim with a shampoo & condition and I was very happy with the results! She made me feel very confident and hyped me up throughout the appointment, too. Definitely recommend you book an appointment with her for your hair needs.

What a wonderful hair experience from the consultation to the appointment. Wayne, provides a black hairdresser experience that should be the industry norm. Professional, timely and complete one on one appointment from beginning to end. She has great natural hair skills and provides you with information on how to take care of your hair. I had color done with a cut and loved the results. Black women don't walk to her salon, RUN you will be happy you did!!!

I’ve been going here for a couple of months and let meee tell youuu my scalp was terrible before going. I was so embarrassed to try a new salon again after years with no luck. But nowwww, what scalp issues?? My scalp is so healthy now and my hair barely itches! Plus, the 1-1 appointment is just what I wanted. She’s focuses on the client with no other distractions! Wayne is fantastic. If you’re looking for a skilled stylist - book here! I am very particular with who I let do my hair. I have worked for years on my healthy natural hair journey and it’s so hard to find a stylist that can take care of you. I just had a baby and have been dealing with some serious postpartum shedding and haven’t had a proper trim since the beginning of the pandemic. I got a silk press that had me feeling more confident than I’ve felt in ages. I will definitely be coming back. Thank You Wayne!
