The worst massage I ever got. My friend who went with me and I cannot stop laughing because it was that bad. Basically I just got a bath in oil….like LOTS and LoTS of oil with some light rubbing which turned into hard rubbing (after I said more pressure) that did not feel good. She missed the whole massage part. For reference I signed up for a deep tissue massage. I legit can’t get over the oil…..definitely do not pay for a massage here. Terrible experience. The point of a massage is to be relaxed and it was FAR FAR from relaxed. I got a “massage” by Brinlee.

They "upcharge" like no other. I don't get my hair done here because I don't like being ripped off. $50 for an olaplex "treatment" I have the whole bottle at home for less than $50. Charged my friend $10 extra for difficult to remove nail polish. (She gets her toes done there always, so $10 extra for removal of their own product) Not to mention the girls giving the pedicures act as if it's beneath them, they do a horrible job. Save a ton spend $45 on a real pedicure with massage and hot towels at basically any other nail salon in the area. This place is a joke. Also the pedi areas are always dirty ( again I believe the young girls think cleaning is beneath them, news flash it's not).Design 1 is not a luxury salon, they just charge luxury prices.

Was given gift card from staff. Has a 78$ pedicure. No lotion really no massage. Literally a soak, scrub and hot towel. I have had way better pedicures for 40$ . So disappointed and sad my staff wanted to reward me with a relaxing pedicure that was so not good and over priced. The staff was nice and the girl that did it was doing what she was trained I’m sure but how sad to charge that much for the service provided

Design 1 Plainfield exceeded my expeditions. The staff was welcoming and was quick to check me in. Caitie W, is who provided my nail service. This is the second time I have gone to her and she has been wonderful both times. She was patient and explained things to me when I had questions and even helped me pick out what two colors would look best together on my nails. If you want someone who will give you a relaxing experience and is detailed oriented please see Caitie. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I brought my grandma in for a manicure and pedicure before my wedding. She has some mobility issues and uses a walker and wasn’t sure what she wanted on her nails. I was slightly nervous about her having an enjoyable visit. But Caitie went above and beyond to make sure she was comfortable and got something she liked. She asked questions, made recommendations without being forceful, and didn’t rush. When we got in the car grandma said she was a “very pleasant young lady.”

I love Design 1 salon. It's a great team there; everyone is so friendly. My current stylist, BethAnn, is the best stylist I've ever had. My haircuts always look great, she always seems to be in a good mood, and I can tell she puts her heart into her work and really cares about her customers (I don't know how she remembers so many stories). I never cared much about haircuts before, and thought that at salons you're probably just paying for a chic vibe. But I've seen the difference that paying a little more for skill and attentiveness can make. Great value.

Sheila and Caitie performed a small miracle today. They took my natural nails and made them look beautiful. Both were incredibly kind and comfortable to work with. This is my first time meeting each, but I felt Absolutely comfortable and welcome. Don’t even get me started on Caitie’s next level calf massage…. This is the best my legs have felt in years.

Laci W at the Plainfield location saved me on my son’s wedding day! She did an absolutely stunning, half up-do for me. Laci listened to what I wanted, look through pictures I brought in and exceeded every expectation I had for that day. Caitie W made me a pedicure believer. Her Footlogix Wellness Pedicure left my feet the softest and prettiest they've ever been, and the rest of me cheered and relaxed. She's kind, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about her craft. My feet and I give her ten toes up. I booked a return before I left the spa!

I originally left a 1 star review after a haircut that left me in tears. I thought I had been so precise in what I asked for, but she delivered the near opposite and chopped off waaaay more than I wanted, including my signature front curls that I've had for well over a decade - which I had stressed were the absolute key to my desired look. I decided to change my review because the response from the business was incredible. I returned the next day and tearfully explained how disappointed I was, and showed them the lop-sidedness and original pictures of what I had asked for. They wholeheartedly agreed that my cut was botched, and not only gave me a full refund but had a master stylist do her best to fix things. As I was leaving they also gave me a complimentary L'Oreal curl care package and a $10 gift card, and put a note in my file that I could come back in 6-8 weeks for a re-shaping. I still hate the cut and have lost a lot of my confidence, but I feel they went *above and beyond* to try and make things right.

Shannon is absolutely amazing, I cannot be thankful enough for her! Well, really for the whole Plainfield location! I went to another salon and they really messed up my nails, I was getting my nails done for my wedding! I came to see Shannon and she way exceeded my expectations. She was so apologetic even though she wasn’t the one that messed them up. They turned out beautifully and I will forever be grateful for all of you at the Plainfield location but especially Shannon. I will also only come to her to get my nails done! Thank you all so much!

I’ve had great experiences with Caitie for nails and Kayla for hair. My daughter has also seen Caitie for nails and Mackenzie for hair. All 3 ladies did a wonderful job of listening to what we wanted, asked questions, and made sure we were comfortable. Caitie’s foot and leg massage was the best I’ve ever had in a pedicure and Kayla’s attention to detail did not go unnoticed. My 10 yr old daughter said Mackenzie was “nice and did a good job.” As a mom, she put me right at ease that my daughter was in good hands. Caitie was very sweet to my daughter as well, making sure she had fun and liked her nails. We will definitely be returning in the future.

Was not at all happy about the pricing! As on the website it showed $50 for a wash and cut and $15 for eyebrow wax but when I got the bill it was $85 for Wash and Cut and $23 for an eyebrow wax. All very misleading. I shall not be coming back. As far as cut and trim eyebrows both were spot on, but still way over priced for both. Yikes!

We enjoyed the beauty of these homes, the history, and the tour. Went the last weekend of the season so there was a lot of time to look.
