I've been going to Tirza for haircuts for almost a year now. Can't recommend her enough. She always gives me an outstanding haircut, and I get tons of compliments! She also offers bang trims in between full haircuts, which is super helpful. My main concern when getting bangs was upkeep, but bang trims make it super easy to keep your haircut fresh.

Everyone in the studio is so welcoming which makes my appointments even more fun! All the stylists are knowledge and personable and really take the time for consults. I have been seeing Emily for my hair needs for the last few years and was so excited when she joined the Clementine crew!

I have been a client of Clementine since I moved to Somerville 8 years ago and have seen several stylists during that time. I have always left the salon feeling pampered and happy with the results. This salon is the first place I’ve had my hair colored and have been happy exploring some different looks and have always had good conversations with the stylists on what my goals are and balanced what my results would be and what to expect for maintenance. I currently see Naomi and am *so* happy with her hair-health-forward approach and her attention to detail(now please don’t all overbook her schedule so I have a hard time getting in to see her 🤓)

I went for the Curly Experience with Sarah and my curls have never looked better! She did an absolutely fantastic job, but also took the time at the beginning to get to know me, my hair, and my goals. (She took the time to essentially go through every single strand of hair on my head!) She really knows curly hair inside and out and gave me super practical tips that I can put into place in my own life. I would highly recommend her to anyone with curly hair. The salon as a whole also has great vibes—everyone there was super friendly. I'm already looking forward to going back!

I’ve had a great experience with Jonathan’s services. He is knowledgeable and quick! I love that I am in and out of the chair in less than 2 hours for a single process color, cut and style. Would recommend Clementine to anyone!

I’ve tried a lot of salons in the Boston area and I’m so glad I finally found clementine! The team is so welcoming and creates a comfortable atmosphere. I can’t say enough good things about Jonathan! My hair has never looked better I’m constantly getting compliments on my natural looking rich brunette color. And he cuts my hair better than anyone ever has.

My daughter and I both go to Clementine and it is the absolute best salon! Everyone there is super inviting, hilarious and fun but most of all talented. I love watching the stylist interact and consult with each other it really feels like a family. My hair always looks amazing and they stock amazing products. Julie does our hair but you literally can't go wrong with anyone there!

Got a curly/wavy haircut from Sarah and I'm in love with it. After five years of bouncing between hair dressers, I finally found someone in the Boston area that I am going to go back to. Can't recommend Sarah enough, she was thorough, discussed the pitfalls I experience with my hair, and talked through everything I can do to get my hair to cooperate. Everyone at the salon was super nice as well!

AMAZING!! I found Clementine through searches for curly hair, short hair, and LGBTQ+ friendly salons. I went in wanting advice on how to manage my hair and also to cut it short for the first time. I scheduled a 2 hour curly cut with Sarah. Sarah was more than knowledgeable when it came to giving me advice on my curly hair. She listened to what I wanted and was looking for, and was also able to give me tips on what she thought was going to be best. I gave her full control and told her I’d trust whatever she did and that was the best decision! Sarah and everyone in the salon was so welcoming and friendly as soon as I arrived. They offered the many drinks and snack they have numerous times and were always making sure I was comfortable and had what I needed. I could not have had a better experience! I HIGHLY recommend. I will definitely be going back the next time I’m in Boston and am looking for a hair cut!!!

I've been a huge fan of Clementine Hair Studio since they opened years ago! I've been lucky to work with a handful of different stylists there over the years, and all have been not only professional, delightful human beings, but they've treated me and my hair so well! I currently see Jonathan for regular trims and balayage as needed - he is truly a gem, and I cannot recommend him and the studio enough! I no longer live in Somerville, but an hour of fun and pampering at Clementine is well-worth the drive back every over month.

Julie has completely transformed my hair. When I first started seeing her 2 years ago, I was resigned to having fine, damaged hair. Despite using heat protectant, minimal washing etc, I thought I was just destined to have thinning, damaged hair because my hair is so fine. Julie was the first to suggest extensions - for volume, not length - but never ever pushed me toward them. Over 2 years, we tried different types of extensions and coloring. I am in shock how much better condition my hair is in now - so much so, that we’ve now removed the extensions and my natural hair is so much fuller. Hair is personal, can be emotional, and is an investment. Julie isn’t just an incredible stylist and extension wizard, she’s shepherded me through this entire journey! Sarah from Clementine has given me (no exaggeration) the best haircuts of my life! It’s so clear that she is actually invested in my and my hair goals. Through that investment, she is prepared to actualize my hair goals with my hair! So many hair stylists in my past haven’t really seen the vision or understand my hair goals, so it is genuinely such a great relief to have my hair done by someone who’s on the same page as me! I will be a clementine customer for as long as I am in the boston area!

Toni and gang are AMAZING. I’ve had such awful experiences with hair cuts, Toni is legit the only one I let touch my hair now. She has hired the best of the best and cares about me and my feelings and my PTSD from botched experiences in the past. I trust her completely at this point and have been coming to her since before she opened her own studio. I’m so happy for her and her colleagues and the success they are having in opening a second salon. Give them a shot, you won’t be disappointed. Between them all, they truly specialize in the everything. They take their actual certifications seriously.

I visited Clementine for the 2hr curly consultation + cut. My stylist, Sarah, was extremely attentive to my hair goals and presented a realistic plan to help me achieve them. She literally searched my hair strand-by-strand for split ends to remove–talk about attention to detail! Sarah also provided valuable suggestions for my hair routine. She provided product recommendations, but didn't try to upsell me or pressure me into purchasing any of them. I left with confidence in my curly hair journey and feel that the experience was worth the price.

If you’re looking for an extension artist look no further! Julie has completely changed my life with my hand tied extensions. I was diagnosed with alopecia areata and was feeling so down about how thin my hair was getting. She’s completely restored my confidence with her skills.

AVOID THIS SALON- SLOPPY haircut. Terrible, will not be back. I could have done a better job cutting my own hair in the bathroom mirror. I’m not sure if the person cutting my hair was just inexperienced, didn’t know how to cut a pretty standard lob, or what. I look like someone took a steak knife to my head. Salon experience: sub par. It’s not a relaxing or rejuvenating type of salon. No one will offer you so much as a glass of water or tea. The chairs are quite small and lean you back at an uncomfortable angle. They don’t have smocks or anything like that, just a rubbery cape. I shared several videos of the haircut I wanted, we agreed on a length- just above my shoulders, cutting off around 5-6” of hair. I ended up with a chin length bob. Since she kept cutting it unevenly, when I pointed out that one side was an inch(!!!) longer, the stylist kept having to retrim it shorter and shorter and shorter. Also, she put me under the stationary dryer, instead of diffusing my “curly/wavy cut,” and left me there for way too long. My hair had passed the “dry” point and came out totally frizzy and fried. I think she could tell I was pretty disappointed because she said “you can come back if you don’t like it.” The icing on the horrible cake- I came home to find that she didn’t even bother to trim the hair on my neck, leaving me with a horrible quasi-mullet of long hair beneath my bob. Pictures attached. So I guess I’ll be cutting my hair in the bathroom mirror after all :( I can’t believe I paid $90 (plus tip!) for this horrible sloppy haircut.

Cute spot with a great atmosphere and wonderful people! I got a haircut from Adriana and she made my hair look the cutest it has ever looked BY FAR. It was so fun to learn that I actually have fairly curly hair - who knew?! Definitely not me! Thanks to her I now have a completely new way to style my hair that takes literally zero effort. I really appreciated her knowledge about everything and had a lovely time all around. 10/10 would recommend!

I was referred to Sarah at Clementine by a friend because after 16 years of chemical hair straightening I was finally ready to embrace my curls! Needless to say I was a little nervous because I didn’t know what to expect or how to style curls or any of that. My expectations were beyond exceeded! First of all, the salon is warm, vibrant, cozy VERY welcoming, and queer friendly. They even have little seltzers and snacks for you if needed. The other stylists are so friendly and the overall vibe is just great. Sarah is truly magical… It was our first time meeting so she took the time to ask me a bunch of questions about my hair goals, ideal style, hair upkeep capacity, etc. One of her specialties is curly hair and she has curly hair herself so I knew I was in great hands. She helped me work through what would be best from a style and upkeep perspective (I need it to be low maintenance) and she got to work. She has amazing attention to detail, takes her time to literally snip each strand perfectly, and is a pleasure to be around when you’re in her chair. My hair came out AMAZING and I’m so excited to rock these curls proudly now! She’s an amazing hairstylist and even more amazing human. Thank you Sarah and Clementine! I’ll surely be back!

I've been going to Julie for a few years now and I always love her cuts. She is also a lovely person and I look forward to seeing her and chatting about life. I've been unsure about whether or not to color for a while now and just recently I decided to go for it. I couldn't be happier. She gave me exactly what I was looking for - even if I wasn't so sure myself! Julie is an artist and a beautiful human and I can't recommend her highly enough. She and the team at Clementine are super friendly and down-to-earth and create a great atmosphere in the salon.

Lovely studio. Excellent staff! I had an appointment with Adriana last night, I had damaged my hair over the summer bleaching it/constantly styling it with heat and was expecting a big chop like other salons have done have done in the past, I really wanted to preserve as much length as possible and clean up any breakage. Adriana did such a fabulous job. She was extremely thoughtful and thorough. She made sure to be cognizant of my feelings and concerns throughout my appointment, while also making recommendations on how we can achieve long term hair health! Thrilled to still have some length in my hair! I also had a fabulous time chatting with her!! Looking forward to future appointments!

I had a great haircut experience with Adriana; she really took the time to understand my vision and gave me the haircut of my dreams! I really loved our conversation during my time in the chair. I wanted to give an honest review. I had never been to Clementine and I decided to come in on 1/10 to treat myself for my birthday and do a bit of a makeover. My hair was very dry and discolored from box dying it and I wanted to dye it one uniform color and have a cut and blow dry. I was paired with Julie who was incredibly friendly and sweet. When I was booking my appointment I spent quite a long time on the phone with the receptionist and told her exactly what my issue was - that my hair was essentially three different colors and darker on the bottom and I needed to get it fixed and trimmed. She asked me if price was an issue and I said yes. She told me the services would be $240. She probably asked me four or five times to spell my name and email and I think I probably should have taken that as an indication that something was bound to go wrong. I was at Clementine for two hours and 45 minutes and all Julie was able to do was somewhat wash some of the black dye out of my hair. She also mentioned that she put some brown dye in my hair. But she ran out of time to blow dry me and cut my hair - so I had to leave the salon with soaking wet hair. She claims this happened because she forgot her Apple Watch at home. When I booked my appointment I asked several times if there would be enough time and they said yes. When I went to pay for my services they charged me $280. I’m typically very uncomfortable when it comes to being confrontational or curious about price adjustments, but I asked why it was higher despite not receiving two of the services I paid for. They essentially said it was because the color processing was more complicated than anticipated. I’m a lay person and ignorant when it comes to the coloring process - how could I have known that? I assumed I came for the overall color that was described to me over the phone. Julie sort of ran off as I was asking this question and left me with the receptionist who incorrectly quoted me to begin with. I came home and finally my hair dried and it looks so terrible. There is barely any difference at all. Not only that, but the process they used brought out old bleach that is now clearly visible in my hair. I’m mortified and feel like my hair is completely ruined for my party. And not only that, it smells horrible - like Nair and rotten eggs. I have had to wash it again - 3 times - and I still can’t get the smell out. I don’t know what to do and I feel like I will have to box dye it again to fix it. This might have been one of the worst experiences I’ve had. The salon also refused to return my money after this experience. Please proceed with caution.

Truly every person at Clementine is talented, but more importantly they are kind and wonderful people who care about their clients and each other, which makes coming in for a haircut that much easier. I've worked with Adriana and Naomi, both of whom helped me figure out where I wanted to go with my hair and left me feeling confident in a way I haven't felt before! Give Clementine a shot for sure.
