2025 review: I paid $162 for a wash and flat iron for “highly textured hair” when my hair was relaxed - I have no curls at all. The quality feels better, but I could only lie and say it looked fine while just being upset I’d paid so much for a deep conditioner, blowdry and flat iron… I’m glad the ends feel better. But I’m wearing my hair in a headscarf for the rest of the day. It wasn’t worth the price. Review from 3 years ago: just went for a wash and trim. Relaxed and natural heads, don’t bother with this salon. The stylist I had used a fine tooth comb on my hair despite the fact that I obvi had new growth and it wasn’t gliding through. I feel like it’s common knowledge not to do that. So this resulted in constant snapping of my hair. You also get charged extra if your hair is relaxed - it was literally on the receipt. A penalty for having unstraightened hair. So Bubbles: good for people with straight hair. Also does good eyebrow waxing.

I had a pleasant experience getting my haircut here. Rosa was very nice and friendly and did a great job. Will definitely be coming back to get my hair colored.

Billy did an excellent job at conditioning, cutting, and styling my hair. I am very happy with the results and I love my new hair. I will definitely book another appointment with Billy to cut and style my hair again.

Took forever to complete their last client, so I ended up waiting a while before getting my hair done. I clearly showed her what I wanted, but she didn’t deliver. Instead, she made my bangs completely blunt, creating a straight line across my face instead of the gradual blend I had previously. I had shown her a picture of a long wolf cut, but that’s not what I got. We also discussed the length, and she suggested keeping it long but adding layers. I told her I didn’t mind the layers being short, but I just wanted to keep the length. However, she ended up cutting a lot more on the bottom than I wanted, and I didn’t get those wolf cut type layers I had specifically requested. I don’t mind the length too much since it was necessary, but I’m disappointed with the layers. I’ve had a wolf cut before and know what layers should look like, so I was expecting better. My bangs are now ruined, which is a big waste of $56. Not to mention the bangs are really choppy she honestly did horrible but she was nice. Pictures below are the inspiration and my hair before and after the cut. You can even see the part where she cut too short on a section of my bangs.

Longtime client of Weena's. For over 20 years. She's amazing. So kind, so gracious. She is a master stylist. Weena does not compromise on quality. She assesses what your hair needs and provides the best care. The haircare products are amazing. I actually buy them because I like them so much! Weena also is a good listener. She will do what you want, but she will provide a little guidance if what you want won't 100% work for you. The color, the highlights, the cut are always perfect and stay looking nice for a long time. As long as Weena is styling hair and I live in MD, I will be Weena's biggest hair fan.

I always do my hair myself, but after a really bad week I decided to pamper myself and let someone else do it for me... But I was left with: - a color I didn't want bc the stylist lied to me -a cut that was shorter than what I asked for because my ends got damaged after she decided to give an all over lighten that I didnt ask for - and chemical burns on my scalp because she left me at a sink with a mix of shampoo and bleach in my hair for 15 more minutes after I told her my scalp was burning The manager took photos of the oozing burns and scabs on the back of my head and told me she'd call me after speaking to the regional manager. I never received a call, so I called back and was told by the receptionist that they wanted to offer me credit because they can't refund cash for some reason?? I told her I wanted to speak to the manager and she said she'd have her call me. It's now been over a week and I still have not received a call from the manager. I hate leaving bad reviews and try to let it go as much as I can, but I really feel like I was done horribly wrong and no one has made any attempt to make it right. I spent almost $300 to have my hair and scalp damaged. :(

My experience here was top notch! I've been very hesitant on getting highlights on my natural hair because of potential breakage. Nanou was very patient and knowledgeable. She took the time to educate me on the process and show me the different types of colo combo that were aligned with what I had in mind. We finished with a little flat twists updo.My hair came out really really nice and I've gotten so many compliments! Definitely coming back!

My hair was in desperate need of a treatment and Nanou took amazing care of me. I went in with dry and damaged hair and came out with soft and beautifully styled hair. Absolutely loved the result and the customer service was superb.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I can't say enough wonderful things about Nanou Benjamin at Bubbles in Columbia, MD! My daughter and I have been clients for a while now, and every visit is truly an outstanding experience. From the moment you step into the salon, you feel welcomed and cared for. Nanou's attention to detail is exceptional—whether it's a fresh cut, a beautiful color, or expert styling, she delivers flawless results every time. She takes the time to understand exactly what we want and makes sure we leave feeling absolutely beautiful. Not only is she incredibly talented, but she also creates a warm, friendly environment that makes the whole experience enjoyable. My daughter is always excited for her appointments, and I love knowing we're in such capable hands.

DO NOT GO FOR HIGHLIGHTS— I am massively disappointed with my experience at this location. I walked in with gorgeous healthy natural hair and requested simple highlights. My hair was not previously colored or chemically treated. I specifically requested from the stylist not to add highlights near my face (money piece) and provided him with photos for inspiration. It should have been a straightforward job given that I had unprocessed hair. I walked out with an unflattering “money piece” and highlights that stopped at ear length. Yes the bottom half of my hair did not get lightened. I went back to the salon and they tried to gaslight me at first, then they tried to fix it with “toner”. Obviously that did not address the highlight issue. The stylist tried to pass it off as being a matter of differing temperature near the scalp vs down the hair shaft, claiming it resulted in the hair section closer to the scalp to highlight faster and that the ends would get lighter and match the top after a few shampoos. Two weeks later, I went back requesting that the highlights be fixed. A manager/more experienced stylist was there and she tried to help as much as possible. She took a few of the more visible sections of my hair (partial highlight section) and highlighted them all the way to the bottom. I did not want to get a blowout in fear they would burn my hair with the heat. During the consult I explained what had happened (the bleach not touching the tips) and she constantly talked over me. After I said I didn’t want a blowout at the end, she said that I should always request a glaze when I get highlights so that we can see the end color, and she said it in a way that implied that I had cheaped out on getting a glaze I’ll the first time. Who would think to ask that? When customers walk into a salon and request highlights, they expect the FULL process of getting highlights, which would include a glaze if that’s something that’s needed to complete the job. My hair looked 20% better after this “fix”, although the inner sections of my hair are only bleached along the first 3 inches of my hair. It is a hideous brassy shade overall (other than the hair highlighted). I also had to keep covering my ears with my hands as the stylist brushed my wet hair aggressively almost like she was doing it on purpose out of frustration. I am not going back to this location and wasting more money to fix it (or further damage it rather). I will have to wait a while and go to another salon who knows what they’re doing.

Hey Girlies, I have debated about writing this as I hate to be the person to leave a nasty review however after a friend said she was going to go here I knew I had to save her and hopefully others from this place and all the tears that came with going here. I went to get a blond balayage and haircut. I was excited and showed lots of pictures to my stylist. I asked if we could make my hair this blond on the first visit and her reply was "of course." She proceeded to slap the bleach all over my head in random places without even dragging a brush through my hair or parting it. The whole time she was doing my hair she was complaining with a coworker about how hungry she was and watching out the window for her food order..... literally looking out the window and blenching my hair, like the girl was not paying attention AT ALL. Once the food arrived she left me and didn't even finish doing it to go eat! When she was done my hair was literally yellow and I mean YELLOW. All in all it was a horrible experience. I left with one side of my hair yellower than the other and an awkward large strip on one side of my head. On top of it all they charged me more than what they quoted me for at the beginning of the apt with no warning. PLEASE GIRLIES DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD-EARNED MONEY ON THIS!!!! TOTAL WASTE OF $450. It's the worst salon in Columbia.

I absolutely love getting my hair done by Iman! He always listens to what I am looking for and gives honest and professional suggestions. Iman takes his time doing my hair and always styles it at the end to perfection. I feel as if I am taken care of there whenever I have an appointment. The salon is clean and Iman is always on time for his appointments.

Nice hair dresser but, bad hair cut. My hair was frizzy and dry and the cut was horrible. Products used were bad. So expensive $220 , I have short hair ear length.

I have two issues - I wasn't seen on time and was told the service would cost significantly more than what is listed on the booking page. I arrived early for my appointment and checked in, and was told my stylist was just finishing up and would be with me soon. Three people were working when I came in. One person was with a client the entire time I was there. Two others were with clients, both finished while I was waiting. One took another client who was also waiting for her appointment, and the other disappeared into the back exactly at my appointment time. After waiting for 15 minutes past my appointment time and having not been told anything by anyone (even a simple, "We'll be right with you" would've been appreciated), I asked the person at the front desk when I could expect to be seen. She went into the back and shortly thereafter my stylist appeared. Fine. When I get to the chair, she tells me that a shampoo, cut and blowdry is going to be $81. First of all, I'd actually booked myself just for a shampoo and cut, but I didn't mind also getting the blowdry, so that was fine. However, the price online for this service is "from $58", and I don't consider a 40% increase to be a nominal upcharge. I was already behind schedule and did not want to leave, so I rolled with it and just agreed to the additional amount. However, I feel strongly that it's misleading to have such a price discrepancy not disclosed at the time of booking. That said, my stylist was good and I am pleased with the haircut I got. But I am not sure whether I will come back to this location for the other reasons.

I came in for a summer cut and color balayage. I came in a few minutes early and was left waiting for about 30-40 minutes. I hadn’t cut my hair since July and was ready for a little pampering. I had shown examples and pictures of what I wanted (long round layer with face framing and toasted chestnut balayage). I ended up leaving with ombré, not at all what I asked for, with streaky high lights and choppy hair trimming and layers. I can even see the line from my hair color to the bright blonde that was put in my hair. I am considering cutting it all off because of how upset it makes me feel every time I look in the mirror. Not only did my time get wasted (I was there for five hours) and spent too much money on something that I didn’t ask for. I also felt “forgotten” when three customers came in and my stylist took care of one of them. The customer wanted a cut and pink ends. I was kept waiting for 30+ minutes at the sink. Super uncomfortable. I don’t splurge often, so I was really upset and frustrated when I left with something completely different. I definitely don’t recommend going.

This was probably the worst coloring treatment ever, the man who did my hair Tyler was new, which is fine, but instead of fixing his mistake he continued to process me with 10 vol developer for hours. My hair is now orange and he told me that it will lighten up. Since my appt was at 5pm and I left the chair at maybe 930pm I was in no mood to argue. I was leaving for two trips back to back so I didn’t get to call the salon for almost 3 weeks. When I returned the “manager” told me they needed to redo my hair before offering me any kind of refund. I told her fine 11am Saturday is what we agreed upon. Well 11am Saturday rolls around and the manager is no where to be found and I have no appt. I called corporate and hope to get this resolved. Moral of the story, go to a professional salon that is not corporate so they can actually help you if they mess your hair up. Pictures coming need to edit my face out.
