I don't usually leave reviews but my hair has responded so well to her care! Professional, fast and probably the best in Poughkeepsie.

I wish there was an option for zero stars. My daughter made an appointment 3 weeks ago with Vivian to get soft locs. Vivian confirmed her appointment then for September 5th at 9:30am. On the morning of September 5th at 8:58am on our way to the shop, we receive a text message(not a courtesy call) from Vivian stating she didn't know it was a holiday and need to move the appointment. She continue to state that she does not book on holidays. Everybody knows that the day is Labor Day. Most braiding shops in the area are open to support kids hair especially for back to school. My teen daughter panics and text back Vivian to ask her when she can get her hair done because she start school on Wednesday. We did not receive a call back neither did she pick up her phone. I called her phone because at this point, we are on the road near her shop. Since I am realizing how unprofessional she is by notifying and remembering a major US holiday( stores have sales all over) last minute, I text her to let her know how unprofessional she is. Vivian proceed to text (coward to talk) and proceed to go back and forth and basically argue to justify her unprofessionalism of notifying a potential client last minute.She goes on and on about her not losing any money and doesn't seem to care about the inconvenience. She lacks customer service. She may do great work but she appear to be unreliable as she is the only one who work in her shop. If she is unavailable, then your appointment is gone..lucky you get a call, a heads up or reminder. If you need someone reliable, courteous, professional and caring, don't go to this person. Spend your money with a business who cares and in your mind will appreciate your business. Vivian, go get customer service and professionalism training. Imagine we were traveling g from fat and you text a half hour before the appointment to move it and not pick up the phone. Go to Blessing Brain's and Mamyfa- way better....

Never picked or returned my calls, neither responded to my sms. Voicemail box is full, so couldn't leave any message or question! Now that tells alot . . .

She did box braids for me, but she's very friendly and knowledgeable as to what's best for the client. I'm fussy, but I was well pleased.

Akinyi gave me one of the best hair salon experiences ever. She pays attention to every detail and makes sure she is meeting her client's needs. The end result was incredibly beautiful and the process of getting it done was extremely pleasant. Will definitely use her again (even though I had to travel over 2 hours round-trip). Wish I could give her 6 stars! Highly recommended.

I booked an appointment with Vivian based off of all of the positive reviews and beautiful pictures of her work that were posted on Google, and let me tell you...SHE DID NOT DISAPPOINT! I requested small knotless box braids, and they came out absolutely perfect. The process took about 6- 6 1/2 hours, and Vivian and her helper Ashley (I think that was her name) are really just lovely people. Overall I am very happy with my experience, and will definitely be coming back soon!

I had a lovely time while Akinyi did my hair! She was very friendly and made sure I was comfortable. My hair appointment was fairly long and I was worried it would be awkward, but it was quite the opposite! She was lovely to talk to and I will definitely go back! (I actually just booked my next appointment!!)

I just moved up to New York and I found a new braid hairstylists. She does amazing job I got knotless box braids!! I highly recommend her.

I’ve gotten my hair done here several times and each time I’m very satisfied. She works fast and takes her time to make sure she delivers what you ask. Book her!
