I didn't know where to get my hair done and I searched for places that could do less-traditional/ daring styles and this was it! I love getting shaggy mullets, pixie cuts, and chelsea cuts and neon hair colors and it's difficult to find a salon that caters to that and this is the place! Brittney Robinson was my stylist and she did a PHENOMENAL job with my hair. I have very coarse, thick hair and she gave me the scene-girl hair of my dreams.

Shawna always listens to what I hope my hair will do and manages to make it happen somehow. She is an experienced colorist who isn’t afraid to try new things. She has expert hair-cutting tricks to make my thinning hair look voluminous. I always leave Avant Garde loving what she has done to my hair. I hope she never leaves. Give her a raise. Love, Lillian

This is my holy grail salon. Michelle is always so sweet and amazing to talk to throughout the service. The front desk staff is very inviting and personable to all clientele. They offer refreshments when entering and the atmosphere is always super inviting. I’ve been coming here for three years or more and I’ve never had a bad experience! Having curly hair, it can be very difficult to find someone who is as caring as Michelle. She is amazing! Can not recommend Avant Garde Salon enough :)

She is incredibly knowledgeable about hair and knows how to take you from uninformed and wary to well-informed and confident in taking care of your hair. She knows how to bring out the best in you, provides great style recommendations and is very helpful in explaining common misconceptions and what to do instead. Thoughtful, solution-oriented and caring; what more can you ask for in a stylist?

Update!! New Hair!! I will never move away from GNV bc I love Brittney🤣😘Update: I’ve been going to this salon every 4-6 weeks since my first experience for 4 years!! The pictures are from today. I first went for my 40th bday, and next week I will be 44! Brittney is the best hairstylist I’ve ever had in my life. She is amazing. Jess is also fantastic. Everyone at this salon is so kind and welcoming, and I absolutely recommend this wonderful gem in Gainesville!! Everything about my experience here was fantastic. First, I’d like to thank Donovan at reception. He was kind enough to take my call on a Friday after 5pm seriously as I hoped against hope for a full color treatment as a new client for the next day (Saturday). I hoped to hear from them, and certainly didn’t expect to. I did mention that it was my birthday Sunday, and he wished me well. I did hear from them the following day, and he was able to get me in for a full color with perfect timing! Rachel is my new person for hair. She did such an incredible job. I had dyed my own hair black (it’s back to beautiful red now! And I do mean beautiful!) She had to put me through a bleach rinse, wash, color, wash, all very difficult with a new client and no warning! She nailed it! She was also able to make everything look easy, checked in with me repeatedly and walked me through what to expect next. Everyone was so pleasant and helpful. It was my birthday on Sunday, so I was just thrilled with everyone being so helpful and actually believing it was my birthday, because it was! So to Donovan for making the appointment happen, the rest of the staff for being so pleasant, and especially to Rachel for being so Awesome; and not only fixing my hair, but exceeding my expectations: Thank You! You have a brilliant career ahead of you!

Helen is the best!! She helped me decide on a color/cut that would suit me best, and she made me feel so relaxed and comfortable the whole time. My hair turned out exactly as I wanted. I couldn’t be happier!
