I have never left a bad review in my life but after my experience with American Nails, I felt I needed to. I usually go to US nails (which I LOVE and highly recommend) but they are on vacation so I decided to try out a new place. I needed a soak off but instead, she ripped my nails off with a nail tip. Acrylics start at $40 but somehow, cutting my nails down and removing my old nails costs $20 extra. When she started applying the acrylic, I kid you not, it was running off the tip of my nail and dripping onto a napkin. Out of the years of getting my nails done consistently, I have never seen that in my life so I KNOW that’s not normal. Once the acrylic was applied, I had to “dry” my nails under a fan while she went in the back for something. I tested my nails and they were literally bending at the tip. She also asked questions to get to know me. I told her I wasn’t currently working so she assumed my mom was paying for my nails, even though I’m about to be 21 years old. She asked to CALL my mom and see if she was okay paying this much money for nails. Speaking of that, I wanted a classic french tip with bows on them and chrome powder. They completely overcharged me, saying the bows will be $20 and the chrome powder will be an ADDITIONAL $20. At this point, we were up to $100, which is when she asked to call my mom. I ended up not liking the bows she drew and just went with the chrome powder, but I have never paid $80 for chrome french tips. Once it was time to check out and I handed her my card, she asked me what I wanted to tip. I said I’ll handle that and she said “no it’s easier this way, just tell an amount.” I wasn’t going to tip anything obviously, but felt pressured once she asked. The next day, my nails were so sore so I assume they drilled them down way too much. Moral of the story is I would never recommend this place, even to my enemies. I genuinely question if they were trained or know what they are doing at all. Only reason I’m giving 2 stars is because they don’t look horrible, even though they weren’t what I wanted. Hopefully, others have better experiences but sadly, mine was not one of those.

Where do I start???? I have never left a review in my life, but felt like this needed to addressed. Think twice before going. Went in 3 days ago for a full set and a pedicure. Both with gel polish. I chose the $50 pedicure w/ the $15 extra for gel polish. My pedicure didn’t include everything that was listed on the sheet and didn’t last long at all. My toenails were cut at different lengths. Feet felt like they did when I walked in…after the pedicure I went over to have my nails done. The lady doing my nails caught my skin so many times with the drill. When I’d say “ow” she would smile and say “huh” and “I so sorry” and proceeded to continue to catch my skin. Nails are different thicknesses. None are the same length. Not the same shape and are bumpy…I provided a VERY simple design. One I could’ve done myself. She acted like she didn’t really want to do it. In the photo, the design was on a tanish color. She proceeded to paint it pink….i went along thinking it might look okay. Well it didn’t. I told her I didn’t like it and wanted it redone. She didn’t really want to, but it got fixed. It was now something I could deal with looking at. The whole time I was there I kept being told by another lady that the one doing my toes and nails doesn’t understand much and she just kind of does what she wants. A couple days after having everything done and paying $130 for it all…. my GEL POLISH peeled right off my toes! I went in and had them fix my toes….I of course got blamed and questioned for my toes peeling. I’ve never had gel polish peel like that and I’ve been getting my toes and nails done for 8+ years. Not only are my toes peeling again after they were “fixed”, but so are my nails. Definitely won’t be going back. (My toes are bare, they were painted black…)

They did the opposite of what we wanted and it was incredibly expensive it should of have been 145 dollars for what we got they also were talking bad about us

I asked for red nails. I got red nails. They were beautiful. I turned to my mom to talk to her for a minute and the lady started putting this powder on my nails. She started with the ring finger so I said “okay but just my ring fingers”. She repeated “just the ring fingers, okay”. Then she went on with my pinky, and I said “no more I don’t like this” and she proceeded to keep going with all of my fingers. I didn’t know what to do so I gave in and let her keep going. I find it disrespectful. They understand the words “no”. Then, she charged me for the “unicorn powder”. I am so upset and defeated. Now, I have to find another nail place to redo my nails.

Pushy with what service is needed or wants. Don't know the word NO. Wants tip..but prices are high. Talk alot and don't understand, probabaly insulting the customers.

Where do I begin. My daughter is getting married and picked a place that would be halfway between she and our place. This is the worst customer service place. I have been in a very long time. We had a 2 o’clock appointment and did not start until three. There were three of us getting our nails done, and it was the quickest pedicures and manicures we’ve ever had. The whole time, all of them were trying to get us to spend more money and sell us something more. In addition, it was clear that since we didn’t live close by we were not a priority, and anybody else who came in took priority over us. lastly, the chair was obviously broken, but she watched me for a good 30 minutes trying to get it to work. Finally, I asked if I could move to a different chair and they allowed me without sanitizing the new chair. In fact, there was no sanitizing of the chairs or instruments done at all that I saw the two hours. I was there. Another Poor person came in and sat in the same chair and she tried to get it working to no avail. Do not come to this place. It was definitely not relaxing. !!

I was a customer of Cindy’s for a long time! I love her work. I had to end manicures for awhile. A few years later I got back to wanting manis and pedis again and I tried someone closer to home but no one compares to Cindy. So I’m back. It’s worth the extra driving. My nails ALWAYS look great, she is sweet, professional, and fun! She keeps her station very clean using alcohol to sanitize. I highly recommend American Nails in Waterloo Il.

I was passing through and stopped to get my nails done because I have my engagement party this evening. My nails look HORRIBLE. None of them are the same shape or length 5 layers of clear coat, They have lumps and are so thick. I wanted a simple design which they said no then tried to cover my nails is some holographic powder. I pointed out the my nails were very crooked and she smiled and kept going. I was charged $75 for a full set of very horrible nails. If I could do 0 stars I would because even 1 star is too good Just to rush to find someplace to fix them. I have never cried over nails before but I did today.

AVOID - didn't sanitize, didn't listen to allergies and restrictions, nothing but persistent upselling. $50 for a toe nail trim and messed up gel.

Dee Dee and Cindy are amazing!! My daughter and I both got pedicures and manicure and they look great! We were so happy! We got unicorn added to our nails and they look awesome! Great customer service! Super friendly! They also did my eyebrows and they look fantastic and mine are hard to do!! Thanks so much! Highly recommend!

I always enjoy having my nails and a pedicure at American Nails with Cindy. American Nails uses Very clean and sanitary methods to do your nails. They will go out of their way to do your nails when it is convenient for you. They are the best.

I didn’t want to write this because Cindy and DeeDee are very nice. But toward the end of my service I felt like it was timeshare sales pitch I couldn't leave. Cindy kept telling me to go onto Google and review, give them five stars. Repeatedly. She did the same to DeeDee’s customer next to me. When the girl next to me didn’t want stickers as her “nail art” which each sticker was $2 by the way, they pressured her until she agreed to one. They asked her young daughter tables away if she wanted them and of course the daughter says yes and it’s done without mom knowing. As Cindy went on about writing a review for them she kept telling me how sanitary and clean they are, which if she hadn’t pointed it out I wouldn’t have started looking but once she opened my eyes to it I immediately noticed how unsanitary the place is. I was under the UV light and ready to go so too late to run. The fact she cut me a few times was bad enough but I let it go because of how friendly she was. Well, until her appointment came in, a regular, then she rushed me out to get her. Now here I am less than a week later with my skin peeling and nails chipping which shouldn’t happen with dip polish.

I was seen this evening by Cyndi. She was an absolute angel. She told me upfront how much everything would be before she preformed the service and let me answer yes or no. She stayed an hour late to finish my nails (they were pretty busy) and all had great customer service skills. I brought my two year old daughter in to get her toes painted as well and they all treated her so kind and were so patient with her. It was a great experience!

Very high prices made me bleed 4 times broke one of my nails when almost done and had to restart it’s very painful to take off I have lost 5 fingernails when trying to remove them overall I will never go back and I recommend don’t go there.

Extremely unsatisfied with the service I received. I was in and out within half and hour for a gel mani/pedi. I was charged well over $130 and all they did was keep trying to upsell me. I noticed they didn’t sanitize instruments, and didn’t clean the pedi tub between customers. Everything was being held together by tape, from the pedi massage chairs to the nail color samples. Not a good experience.

Had an awesome pedicure and manicure. I hope to get some acrylic nails next time, or at least some gel paint. They were very good with me since this was my first time at a nail salon. 😀

absolutely sad… keep giving this nail salon a chance and this time i was done! DD has horrible customer service and paid $120 for 1 pedi, a fill, and just gel paint on toes… that’s not even the worst part i had said to the lady doing mine if you cut me again for the 4th time im done… and she of course did again and i got charged for (pic down below) worst nail salon ever… pricing is insane! Last time we were in there DD was falling asleep doing my nails seems to me she is on pills, DD was even getting made to the point she was raising her voice at me! suggest going to US Nails in Waterloo!

Walked in this afternoon for a mani pedi. Lisa did an amazing job and was so kind. She told me when my requests would be extra and how much which takes a ton of stress off the experience when you know what the cost is. I was able to sit back and relax. When they were out of my color Lisa went and found an alternative I liked even more. Will definitely be back.

Wonderful experience at AN. Vivian did a marvelous job with my old feet....after her pedicure they looked great. Mary did a fantastic job on my "dip nails." - I highly recommend AN! You won't be disappointed!
